    When renaming paths in a session, rather than go to the very busy I/O setup dialog, right click on any Input, Output, or Buss and rename it right there. All others instances will change to follow it. When I discovered this, I thought I was dreaming. A huge brain-saver in any size session.

    Your channel, particularly this Pro Tools playlist of tutorials, is a goldmine Scott! Thank you for the first-rate content! 🙏🏻

    When you said that a bus is really a cable that connects two tracks it was a Eureka moment for me. You are a wonderful teacher. (I spent many years teaching piano in a prestigious music college). Thank you Dr Wolf.

    Thumbs up to you for these tips. I see you.re using a Universal audio interface in this tutorial. Do you use plugins on your voice track when recording these videos .. or is this raw dialog recording? I have an Apollo Twin MK11 interface trying to figure out how to use it properly for vocal recording. Thank you!

      Hi Shaun! It depends on how much time I have when I'm making the video. I have two mics I use for VO - the sm7b and the EV RE20 and I actually use my Duet more than the Apollo, the duet's mic-pres have a warmer color to them that I like. There's a lot of background noise at my house so, I often use the Dialog 2 plugin from Wave Arts to cut some background noise. When I have time (not all the videos) I tend to combine compressor, eq, limiter after the noise reduction. I found this video to be really helpful for that trio: czcams.com/video/Ev921CyMRQw/video.html

      Almost forgot, I use a Cloudlifter to boost the signal from whichever of those mics I use above.

    Hello Scott, nice video! what's your UI Customization settings? it looks very good

    • @scottwolfguitar
      @scottwolfguitar  Před rokem

      I don’t think I do anything special? It’s just the default Mac dark mode for PT. Is that what you mean?

    • @yutux
      @yutux Před rokem

      @@scottwolfguitar Yes, mine looks very different with default Dark for some reason...

    I notice in the headings it lists Analog, S/PDIF etc. How do you change the channel output type for a channel, for example, in the Apollo change the S/PDIF to be on 7/8 instead of 9/10 as you have it in the video. Setting the channel output type is kind of necessary if you are creating your own paths from scratch....but I cannot find the pop-up menu that enables you to do this.

    • @scottwolfguitar
      @scottwolfguitar  Před rokem

      You should be able to customize those in the I/O settings.

    • @david.cittadini
      @david.cittadini Před rokem

      @@scottwolfguitar Thank you for that 😊 The question is, how? There is no way to click on anything - I have clicked and tried to find a popup menu, and it just does not exist. I have seen lots of documentation that says it should be done, but there is nothing that shows it. It is hidden very well 😃

      Hmmm, I’m not in front of the computer at the moment, but it is possible that the Apollo is responsible for communicating its list of inputs to PT? This article on Sweetwater might be what you’re looking for: www.sweetwater.com/sweetcare/articles/universal-audio-console-routing-explained/

    • @david.cittadini
      @david.cittadini Před rokem

      @@scottwolfguitar Everything is fine in the Apollo Console settings. Page 67/67 of the Pro Tools Reference Guide, version 2022.9, says "Click the Input or Output selector for the first interface channel pair, located below the first audio interface icon. From the pop-up menu, select a physical port pair (such as Analog 1-2), to route to a Pro Tools channel pair (such as A 1-2) in thePath Name column on the left.". There is no pop-up menu anywhere. On all the CZcams videos covering the I/O Settings, not a single person covers this feature.

      @@david.cittadini Hey David, so I just opened Pro Tools to give it a try. I went to the Input and Output tabs of the I/O settings, then I just clicked and dragged the L box and then the R box to another number. No dialog or anything, just click and drag say MIC L from 7 to 8. That what you were trying to do?

      @scottwolfguitar  Před 8 měsíci

      Not sure about PT 9 but typically you need to set up an Aggregate audio device in hardware setup.
