    Something everyone needs to know about setting up sends for Cue Mixes, Ctrl +Alt + H will let you copy all settings (volume, pan, etc.) from the selected channels to the sends.

    Hey Graham, awesome video as usual. Just wanted to share a trick that I've found pretty useful that I haven't really seen on youtube, and that is monitoring your artist's cue mix. What I do is create a stereo aux track that I call "Cue Monitor". Route the input to an open bus and keep the output on the main monitor outs. Then I control, option, click on the cue send and split the signal to that open bus. Now you can solo up Cue Monitor aux and listen to exactly what the artist hears!

    With this method you may get flaming or phase issues on record enabled tracks due to send latency. Many interfaces route inputs directly to outputs on the interface in which case take the send routing off for record enabled tracks

      Not enought people talk about this, I want to use my software delays/reverbs/autotune but I get phasing in the headpones and I know if I went direct it would sound so much better in the cans. not sure what to do...

  • @recordingrevolution
    @recordingrevolution  Před 13 lety

    @RobertoAvilesMusic Totally. It may cause some latency or CPU slow down, so try it out for yourself.

    If you are only tracking one person and it’s not critical for the engineer to hear the current mix but you don’t want to lose your “current mix”,
    an option would be:
    Make a copy of your project
    (Save as) then adjust the main mix to the performers preference.
    When you have the take, load your original mix and import the new track from the tracking session.

    @descargamusicalny I'm pretty sure it simply sends the signal, no plugins.

    that means that if I Set all the send for the head phones at post fader, and just the vocals at pre- the singer could hear only himself louder?(basicly- is there any way to send my main mix with specific adjustments without making the mix all over for the headphones?

  • @descargamusicalny
    @descargamusicalny Před 14 lety +1

    nice, one question. When the pre fader function is active, does it also send the insert plug-ins or does it skip them and acts just as a direct out on an analog console? thanks....

    Will the separate headphone send work in "Low Latency Mode?"

    Is it not practical to just send all channels to an aux through a bus and then set the aux output to 3-4 or the headphones ?
    Then you could copy that aux and set the output of the copy to the main L and R so you could monitor the cue mix. Then just mute and unmute the mains or cue aux to reference between ?
    That way you have a master fader for your cue mix and don’t have to adjust every track if they want it all down and the snare up. Make sense ?
    Sometimes simple shit is easy to overthink if someone can give any insight that’s greatly appreciated!

    How are you avoiding latency on live tracks? Or is it just a matter of setting your buffers as low as they'll go and dealing with what you've got?

    I find when I do this that the output to headphones only plays out of the left earphone. The pan nob just turns the sound lower when I try to pan to right ear to fix the issue. Any help would be most appreciative. Thanks!

      Your hardwares software UI is set to mono(i.e rme,presonus etc...) open your hardware' ui console and look where protools (level are bumping) software audio is returning and PAN iT -hard left dan the other hard right. If that doesn't work then reset your protools i/o input and output channels.

      You would add another stereo master fader and it would auto control the next outputs...... hope this helps

    Hello Graham !!! i watched your video , but there is one problem i have not fixed.
    Please help me if you know how . i already knew how to do the headphone mix , but i cant get stereo sound in my headphones , i always create an aux send routed to interface 3,4 stereo , but i always get mono signal in my headphones , only the left side sound , the headphones work perfect everywhere except when i do this. I have the digi 003 control surface with protools 8.0.5.
    thanks a lot...

    I have a Scarlett solo interface. I wanted to create a separate headphone mix when I’m tracking my guitar so I didn’t have to keep turning off my monitors (to avoid obvious bleed into the mic) and turn them back on to hear my mix through my monitors. So I tried routing a track as a headphone mix and another as a stereo mix and another as a headphone mix but all it did was turn down my monitors a bit and turn up my headphones while simultaneously playing from both. Is this because I need a dedicated output to a headphone amp instead of using a built in headphone jack into my interface?
