So many great episodes, could we get a mash countdown perhaps best episodes is fine for me
Your list is really good mojo
Aqua Mala, Shapes, Terms of Endearment, and Millennium are my favorites
And X-Cops is another favorite of mine
You should make some more lists about x-files like top monsters of x-files
Or funniest x-files episodes 😁
@@p-__ get lost with your pointless immature comments
My grandma and i never missed an episode. I can remember the premier. I was adding butter to a big bowl of popcorn as the opening theme was playing. Grandma shouted for me to hurry up, i was gonna miss the opening scene😂. It is a bittersweet memory, she passed away in 2007😢. I miss her
"Folie a Deux" is the most iconic episode, in my opinion. I was gripped to find out the ending, never really knowing how it would end.
Definitely one of my favourite 90's TV shows of all time. Duchovny and Anderson had the best dynamic, you could never envision anyone else as Mulder or Scully.
I have their origin novels, which take place in late March and early April of 1979. As Mulder tries to solve his sister Samantha’s disappearance in _Agent of Chaos,_ _Devil’s Advocate_ shows Scully getting in over her head after a deceased classmate appears to her during gym. By chance, Mulder and Scully have a brief exchange in the former book. I’ll keep it small, but Scully didn’t want Mulder and his team disturbing the energy of the building they were in. I know its name, but I’ll keep quiet about it so both stories stay fresh should you want to read them.
@@Jeremiah_Rivers76 that's really cool and also p is back spamming. You know what's sad , he has people defending him in his channel
@@Reaperguy67That’s just sad.
@@Jeremiah_Rivers76 yep. I don't understand why people find immature comments funny. Like they got to grow up
I'm glad you included "Jose Chung's 'From Outer Space'" on the list!
My favorite episode.
Rhys Darby as the "Were-Monster" has got to be the funniest character ever on the show.
I started watching "The X Files" by accident. I was a fan of "Adventures of Briscoe County" and set the VCR to record it while the lovely missus and I went to dinner.
We got home and I realized I recorded X Files by mistake. It was the episode with all the cloned girls, and their fathers being exsanguinated.("Eve") I watched every episode after that, and caught the first bunch on reruns when they came on.
I was channel surfing and happened upon the episode "Squeeze." That got me hooked.
"Home" really freaked me out. A fellow worker was quite upset by that episode; near the end, a Johnny Mathis standard was playing. She said she never wanted to hear that song again, as it would remind her of that episode.
I saw it when it first aired, funny enough Fox decided not to rerun it because it upset people
Home is my favorite
The "birth" scene still messes me up
@@thepubknight6144 Yup. No argument from me. Now I have to see if I can find that episode streaming...I think FreeVee has at least the first season, but I can't recall if "Home" was first or second season.
That episode was so much nope
One of the episodes that “kept me up” at night has to be “Folie a deux”…that “from the corner of your eye” monster…shivers. On a lighter note, I love the episode “War of the Coprophages”…Duchovny in them jeans….
David is still my all time celebrity crush 😂
"Y'all should get some rest. You look pooped."
@@Bargle5 “I never thought I’d say this to you, Scully…but you smell bad”
Great video Watch Mojo... glad to see the one with Peter Boyle was number 1. Such a great episode, and The X Files is one of the best shows ever... Thanks every one!
Man eating fireflies,
Death by over-imagination,
A Digestive cave,
Aging water,
Tentacled monsters that turns you into water,
A guy that eats people's liver every 50 years,
Another with a killer siamese twin,
and Another guy whose own shadow kills people?!
Sheesh!
No wonder this stuff got me as a kid! And even still gets me to this day. 😱
Ikr!
Tooms kills people every 30 years. They even say he could strike again in 2023
The best episode is when Mulder and Scully travel to Springfield to investigate an alien sighting reported by Homer Simpson.
The fact that Vince Gilligan wrote some of the best episodes of X-Files and also created the series Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul only proves how great his potential is
Oh the memories of watching The X-Files on a Friday night with a bowl of popcorn 🍿😊
Thank you for the update, WatchMojo..!! The X-Files episodes were filmed where I used to live back in the 90s along with other TV shows like Millennium. They used to post fake TV show names where they parked RVs for actors/actresses and the film crew, to prevent the locals from visiting the site. 🤣 I remember watching the pilot episode of the X-Files while not knowing that was a paranormal based TV show.. 🤣
You can never top "HOME" as the greatest X-Files episode ever: horrifying, funny, disgusting, thought-provoking, and the only episode to ever be banned from television.
Hell yes!!!!
Its still available to watch on Hulu
It's available on Hulu
As a kid i had this requiring dream for years but never knew from where.
Seeing this today hit me like a tons of bricks. All coimg back to me now.
This episode and a movie called People Under the Stairs were a big part of those childhood nightmares 💀💀💀
(X-cops ep also f**k me up 😂 I was a gullible kid)
Closure is the best episode. I will take no questions.
“Triangle” gets my vote. I love the single camera tracking approach. I love that both leads hold court through their respective scenes. I love that there’s no breaks in the action from both the ship and the office.
AND I LOVE SCULLYS HAIR THE MOST ON THIS DAMN EPISODE⚫️ Gillian was working the hell out of the camera man.
The Field Where I died is probably my favourite
That one stuck with me
Great picks! I love "Ice", the Pilot and "Tooms".
Bad Blood is also hilarious! Mulder singing Shaft 🤣🤣🤣
Great list, but I really want to include War of the Coprophages. There was an outtake where a cockroach walked over the camera, but it was so perfect that they decided to keep it in. When that cockroach walked across the screen, you know that somewhere in america somebody through a shoe at the television.
That.... Wasn't an outtake. The cockroach was shot separately and superimposed over that part as a gag.
If a cockroach walked over the camera, all you'd see would be a black/brown blur obscuring the image.
That cockroach running over the screen was put in as a visual effect on purpose in post-production. There's even an edit in the middle, ffs, just to make you think there's a real roach running over your TV.
This list is missing some great episodes Our Town, Fearful Symmetry, Colony, End Game Acension, One Breath, Aubrey, Excelsis Dei, Irresistible, Unruhe, Kaddish, Leonard Betts, Sanguinarium, Tunguska, Tempus Fugit, Max, Patient X, The Red and the Black, Emily, All Souls, Travelers, 2Shy, Wetwired, Avatar, Piper Maru, Apocrypha, Grotesque, Alpha, Two Farthers and One.
All great episodes but with so many it's hard to narrow it down to just 10
Excelsius Dei and Alpha are *dreadful* episodes.
Home freaked me out far more than any other episode!
One word: Home. Better than 99% of the big budget horror movies that have come before it and since.
So many good episodes. It s hard to pick a favorite.
After 5 years since the seasons of The X Files ended in the year 2018, i still rewatch the entire series in the year 2024. Because the series fascinates me entirely till today about the existence of aliens and little green men’s.
@@p-__ oh really?? Does this means that it smells good too?? 🤣🤣🤣
@@bee_man84 grow up and being immature like him. He has spammed reply this in multiple channels
I remember when Irresistible played, I was living in St. Paul MN at the time, which was the scripted setting for the episode. Scared the you know what out of me. But Jose Chung is still my fav.
The episode about the guy who crawled inside of people better be on this list, lol.
Lol! That one was so messed up😂
Can we get a best of with Krycek?
One of the best lists ever on Mojo!!!!😄😄😍😍! Your list was great! My personal favourites are from season 7 - "The Goldberg Variation", "Je Souhaite" (those were just pure fun!!),"Hungry" was also original, , "Terms of Endearment" a brilliant story, 'Dreamland' double episode was great also, and three episodes from season 2 "Die Hand Die Verletzt", "Soft Light" as well as"Our Town" all are brilliant , and all the episodes involving Lone Gunmen of course 🤩🤩🤩
Sorry but CSM WAS the one behind the Kennedy incident in the musings episode. When the narrator said "father," that confused me a bit.
2Shy is amazing.
So many brilliant episodes it's hard to make a list. But here is my Top Ten, it's all very subjective.
1. Anasazi/The Blessing Way/Paper Clip. Not really cheating, These three were basically one episode called the Unopened File, a brilliant trilogy spanning Finale of S2 and Premier episodes of S3. Fantastic scene when Skinner confronts Smoking Man with the Native American Elder who knows the truth.
2. Clyde Bruckner's Final Repose. Just brilliant on all levels, very human story but still very much X-Files. So sad when he foresees his own death.
3. Squeeze/Tooms. This character really got everyone switched on to the show, so creepy.
4. The Erlenmeyer Flask. That part where Scully lifts up the alien, and Deep Throat being assassinated, great drama.
5. Pusher. Superb suspense at the end with Mulder in the Russian Roulette Mind Control scenario and Scully looking on terrified.
6. Oubliette. Again a very very human story but so frightening in its content. A incredibly sad ending also to add to the drama.
7. Home. So disturbing in its content, but based loosely on true facts. It is still a very hard watch, but this show never shyed away from such material.
8. Colony/End Game. Brilliant suspense in this two-parter with Mulder's elusive search for Samantha and the relentless Alien Bounty Hunter played by Brian Thomson, who played the villians Luke and The Judge from Buff The Vampire Slayer.
9. Triangle. A wonderful time slip episode with Mulder back in 1939 at the start of the war on board a ship overtaken by Nazis. Familiar faces crop up there from the current dimension. Scully with the help of the Lone Gunman crew try to rescue him.
10. Soft Light. This is the debut of Vince Gilligan as writer, the creator of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. It is also Directed by James A Contner, who Directed some of the very best episodes of Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel. Here we have another great story with such a brilliant but disturbing ending with Dr Banton incarcerated and trapped with endless experiments done on him by clandestine government scientists. That ending always creeps me out.
Darkness Falls is my number one. A small group trying to escape an unknown threat, love those types of themes.
The reboot with Mulder’s disco trip was hilarious 😅
Traumatized senior citizens😂 . He didn't know he took a placebo.
@@nv4699 that was great
The X-Files was one of the first (if not the first) series I started watching when cable TV was installed at home and for sure I have fond (and a few scary and unsettling) memories of it. I remember many of the episodes on this list, including the controversial "Home", and I agree on the number 1 pick: the Clyde Bruckman episode was really touching, and left me thinking for a while.
Thanks for this video and greetings from Spain :)
Thank you for including Paper Hearts. Incredible episode. Noonan is scarier as a human serial killer than anything supernatural they faced. I’d complain that the list is too comedy heavy, but over the decades, I’ve found that the humourous ones are ones that hold up best upon multiple rewatches. Outside of Paper Hearts and Pusher, there aren’t a lot of serious or scary ones I go back to anymore.
Terrific list
Our Town, Die Hand Die Verletzt, Folie a Deux, Deep Throat, Leonard Betts, Acadia, Detour, Paper Clip, Paper Hearts, Roadrunners, Niesi/731, The Elrenmeyer Flask, Terms of Enderment, Small Potatoes and Humbug. i think are some best episodes
Great list.
Some of my favorites that didn’t make the cut on your list:
Soft Light.
Folie a Deux.
Roland.
El Mundo Gira.
EBE.
Die Hand Die Verletzt.
Wetwired.
And I’m still afraid I’m missing some of my favorites. The first 5 seasons were pure gold.
Bad blood is my favorite episode. Great seeing things from each character's pov and then seeing the truth was somewhere in between.
The episode with Bruce Campbell is the best one because it has Bruce Campbell.
MY NEURONS ARE ON FIRE!! No wonder I'm so weird, growing up obsessed with this show! I still think I'm gonna grow up and become Scully...
The Goldberg Variation with Willie Garson, and Monday with the time-loop bank robbery. And the 2-parter Dreamland with Michael McKean.
The pair of “squeeze” and “Tooms” is still a couple of my favorite episodes of TV
"Soft Light" was my favorite. It was about a guy who had a accident involving dark matter.
Thank you! Tony Shalhoub was amazing in this episode!
Darrin Morgan’s writing was brilliant, and I love David Ducovney’s take on it being so different from the rest of the series, “it’s like he’s trying to destroy the show”.
No one ever lists my favorite, “The Calusari,” and “Sleepless.”
I miss Friday nights as a kid , watching the x files in the dark and actually getting scared about the aliens and getting abducted by them.
I might have to watch X-Files tonight with my cat Spooky Mulder. 😻
'humbug' and 'home' are easily my favorites. what's funny is as a kid my favorite episodes were the alien abduction ones, but as an adult I've found myself enjoying the monster of the week episodes.
Gotta throw my vote in for Folie a Deux as my fav episode. Stuck with me years later.
No Momento Mori? No One Breath? Bah humbug!
I like the episode where Mulder drives the entire episode to try and save a woman with an exploding headache. And the guy who has insane luck all the time.
agent mulder is so hot
Home was written by Glen Morgan and James Wong, creators of (Space: Above and Beyond). They knew that there was going to be a lot of stuff that wouldn’t make it past the censors, so they wrote in a lot of stuff that the censors would gut so they could keep the good stuff.
Together with The Twilight Zone, X files are too TV production and writing. Even when it is safer than bold, its true television.
Sorry guys, you miss it: 1. Folie a Deux 2. Squeeze.
Darkness falls for me. never ever looked at fireflies at night while camping the same after that episode.
Another good example of comedy... although I don't remember the story's name, is from the sequel series... an AI drone from an automated sushi restaurant, that goes bonkers, because Mulder lost his temper with it, not giving it a favourable review. 😁
Please do a top 20 X-Files moments. Some that must be in their is when in ‘Beyond the Sea’ when Mulder holds a gun and shouts ‘Federal Agent’ and then gets shot at and then when Mulder takes the Magic Mushrooms in ‘Babylon’, absolutely hilarious outcomes.
I loved Arcadia 😂❤
Git in here and fix me a sandwich, woman! 😂 Definitely my favorite line.
D.P.O. should have been on the list. The even used it during the end cards.
Squuze and Tooms are the best!
I live close to the actual Home, PA and every resident I know thinks it’s hilarious it’s one of the banned eps and it’s not even supernatural!
And here comes My Top 20 from absolute favorite Episodes from my Favorite Show The X Files
Number 20: The Lost Of Forehead Sweat
Number 19: Dreamland Parts 1 & 2
Number 18: Squeeze & Tooms
Number 17: Familiar
Number 16: The Goldberg Variations
Number 15: Three Of An Kind
Number 14: Small Potatoes
Number 13: Familiar

Number 06: The Host
Number 05: Bad Blood
Number 04: Tunguska / Terma
Number 03: Musings Of A Cigarette Smoking Man
Number 02: The Truth
Number 01: X - Cops
Episodes that I think were missed- Ghost in the Machine, Erlenmeyer Flask, Ascension, ‘3’, One Breath, Die Hand Die Verletzt, Dod Kalm, F. Emascualta, Our Town, Oubliette, The Field Where I Died, Zero-Sum, Unusual Suspects, Detour, Kill Switch, The Pine Bluff Variant, Foile a Duex, The End, The Beginning, Drive, S.R. 819, Monday, Closure, Jump the Shark, The Truth, Babylon.
One of the best series ever! I miss it!
The episode with Tooms is why I was terrified of escalaters as a teenager😂
Personally I would have had tooms higher up just fornthe shear terror and the fact years later they check tiny vents just in case
I suppose the plot was derivitive, but I loved the episode "Monday" where
Mulder and Scully are trapped in a time warp and repeat the same bank robbery
over and over. I also loved "Field Trip" where they get trapped inside a killer
mushroom.
Wow, so many other episodes I would’ve ranked way higher than what was on this list. But to each their own
To difficult to deal with the Lost of the great Toby Keith, _ load's of respect to his amazing work. Rest in country heaven.
Just riped all 11 seasons from DVD to my Jellyfin server. Shame "The Field Where I Died" did.t make the list. Still one of my favorites to this day.
LOVED X-FILES! Went to 1st X-Files Convention in Chicago with a co-worker who subscribed to Fangoria [I paid for my kid's subscription 😑]
I would have picked "Colony"/ "Endgame" over anything from the sequel series. That, or "Talitha Cumi"/ "Herrenvolk". Brian Thompson was totally underrated as the Alien Bounty Hunter, and these were the best alien/human hybrid episodes.
I'd also add "Soft Light" or "Leonard Betts", instead of "Post Modern Prometheus".
Ice will always be the greatest episode for me. Three decades later and it's still an absolutely beautiful piece of television.
X files was my favorite show ever and im middle aged
Man I miss that show!
It still remains in my top ten favorite shows and there was never a "bad" episode.
I’m hungry and I’m ready iykyk 😅
I’ve seen every episode on this list as it’s my all time favorite show
Good list. “Home” is the best episode of The X-Files. The absolute best! “Home” is the most fcked up.
One of the best shows of all time. Could pull off a Top 50 for it.
It's tough to choose just 20 eps from one of the best TV series of all time. Other good eps not mentioned here are: "Gender Bender", "Eve", "The Calusari", "2Shy", "War of the Coprophages", "Grotesque", "Monday", "Biogenesis", "Daemonicus", "Unusual Suspects", "The Lost Art of Forehead Sweat" and "Rm9sbG93ZXJz" 😎
It's hard to argue with CBFR being #1. Everything about that episode just locks into place beautifully. Even if it weren't my #1, my Top 10 in chronological order would be:
Ice
Beyond the Sea
Tooms
Anasazi
Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose
Pusher
Home
Small Potatoes
Monday
The Unnatural
My favorite ones were mostly all mentioned already. I like D.P.O. and a few other episodes not mentioned better than paper hearts or pilot though. Xfiles is actually my favorite live action tv show btw, tons of good episodes in it.
te earlier episodes were best with the exception of "Home" when I finish bingeing northern exposure I'll re-watch this excellent series
I really miss the days of X-Files episode/Bulls game double headers with my dad.
Irresistible always stood out as one of the best episodes for me. Really creepy, fantastic acting from all the cast and the fact the killer is human makes the episode even creepier.
Ghost in a Machine.
Ice??? Really??? but at least you didn't use the word "titular". Love your vids
The field where I died is one of my favourites.
Have I missed it on the list? I had nightmares after watching the flukeman
Home. Always gonna be Home.
Now as far as favorite episode, definitely Closure.
Rush and Monday absolutely deserve to be on this list somewhere
Firewalker is a good one too.
Irresistible and Orison hands down.
I always loved the odd episodes where they just had fun, usually they were fimed in black and white. Like the christmas specia with Ed Asner where Mulder dragged Scully to investigate a haunted house on christmas eve. There were a lot of Edgar Allen Poe references in that episide.
I guess im a bad fan because i dont know the names of episodes butanother of my favorites is the one with Giovanni Rabissi and Jack Black...Ride the Lightning? Maybe?
The Ghosts Who Stole Christmas. Classic.❤
My favorite always has been Ice.
