Warcry - Cities of Sigmar Castelite Hosts

- This week we’re going to look at one of the big releases from last year, both for Age of Sigmar generally and Warcry specifically. The new Cities of Sigmar. Before this big release, we did have rules and models for the Cities of Sigmar, but they were mostly the Empire models from the old world. This is less of a range refresh and more of a reimagining. We have all new sculpts for models that never existed before which is pretty exciting.
Note - I did in error include the Questor Soulsworn Duellist as an Elite runemark option, they actually have the Champion runemark so that's wrong!

GREAT overview! I never thought I'd run an Order warband... until this set came out! I dove into researching it for my buddy's sake - he was looking for a warband he could proxy his Cursed City minis for. I got so excited making a list for him, that I decided to make a Castelite warband for myself! (He's since picked up Jade Obelisk and gone in a whole other direction...) I played one solo game against my Two-Korgorath KBB list (was a draw but I sort of forgot about the reaction, which I think would have made a HUGE difference) and yesterday ran 2 of its 3 battlegroups (no Dagger) in a 4-player free-for-all where we were teaching two new players. My list is: Shield = Gunnery Sergeant (ally) and Fusiliers x2, Dagger = Knight-Questor (ally), Soul Shepherd, and Steelhelm, and Hammer = Marshal w/ Shield and Steelhelms x2I. I also have a Calthia Xandire and a Gargoylian that I can swap in for the Knight-Questor and the Soul Shepherd as an alternate build. I usually play elite melee war bands so this one requires a little more finesse, but so far it's looking pretty strong. I have the Banner Bearer, but I haven't figured out a way to work him into the build w/o losing something I like more; movement was a bit of a challenge on the double board we were playing on in the free-for-all.

My goal is to rush center with the Ogor and Fusiliers and set up shop as a major threat that if not dealt with can consistently pop wounds at 15 inches. The 3 steelhelm are just there to try to grab an objective and hold with their durability while my Marshal and his team catch any chaff that try and gum up my gun line. You are right that a major issue of theirs is a lot of their abilities don't work with allies so I tried to keep them out just to see what happens. Wish me luck!

These videos are so helpful Im a pretty new player I would love to see an in depth video like this about some of the classic chaos warbands like the spire tyrants and the iron golems even if its a quick overview like youve done for the heroes Thank you for the great videos!

I've been testing the Castelite warcry warband for a few games. I'm running an ogor warhulk with steelhelms close by to maximise the reaction. Then I'm using the soul shepherd to generate extra wild dice and an allied Calthia Xandire to use her triple ability to give fighters extra move or attack actions. Because i can add wild dice, i generally try to maximise her coordinated strike ability to effect 3 fighters, only requiring me to roll either a double 5 or double 6.
I have tried using fusiliers with steelhelms but to get the reaction to work on the steelhelm, the fusilier needs to be within 3 inches, and the minimum range of the fusilier is 6 inches so unit placement is really tricky to optimise the reaction.
I am attending my first warcry tournament in a couple of weeks so we'll see how the list works out?
The unit with the elite runemark doesn't actually need to be in range of its own weapons to allow the reacting unit to benefit from it

I’m new to the game. I can’t find those models or any set with stat cards plus models anywhere. ?
For the models look in the age of sigmar section. There isn't a warcry box for them. For the rules check warhammer-community.com downloads where there is a pdf with the profiles. Warcrier.net is also a great source and the links from there will go to the card creator if you want to make your own cards (you will need to upload fighter images).
I thought the Questor Duelist had the Champion runemark, not Elite.
Damnit GW! You are indeed correct 😩 all those skull runemarks look the same!
@@optimalgamestate I completely agree, those identical skull runemarks are silly. Still, great video. I just finished painting my starter Castelite warband, and you provided some great tips and considerations on how to play and expand my options.
