When a charger loses to a stang everyone’s quick to bring up weight, all I see is car vs car. Pretty close races, Coming from someone who loves all American muscle cars

The only thing I bring up is that the Charger and Challenger have been making the same horsepower for about 7 years now and the Mustang has had to up their hp twice in that time frame to even be competitive.

Ive had both, and personally prefer the 5.0 Mustang. In terms of longevity, the HEMI is a great engine, but the oil splash is not enough to properly lubricate the lifters. The GT is dual overhead cams and is far more likely to last if oil is changed regularly. Even with regular oil changes the HEMI would be lucky to not have "HEMI tick" at 120k miles. I love the torque of the HEMI. But I also like the lighter weight of the Mustang. The 3rd generation mustang has no cylinder deactivation, while the HEMI does. This will cause uneven heat distribution around the engine block, and in the long run will cause efficiency to degrade quite a bit.
Couldn’t you just delete the cylinder deactivation and swap in a different cam and valve train?
The cylinder deactivation only occurs when cruising in normal street mode. As far as everything else, it simply wouldn’t be worth the money. Majority of Scatpack owners never even keep the car past 50k miles before trading it in anyways.

Had a charger Daytona and now a mustang GT/CS and I gotta tell you I love both cars but I definitely love the charger more - that engine sound is just so amazing and having the extra doors is very useful

I had a 2012 SRT8 392 Challenger. It was nice but I noticed that the car started to wander at about 130 mph. I have a 2019 Mustang GT 10A and it is solid up to 150 mph. I don't know about the Chargers. Looks like they've made them more aerodynamic.

Expected. The ZF transmission and the powerband of the scat works well but 10 speed mustangs trap higher speeds stock. The better platform for mods is the coyote though. It’s essentially God tier. Fbo n/a motors have trapped 128 while some boosted coyotes cars trapping 170s.

@@doloressalgado3427 I have a MK7 Volkswagen GTI and yes I’ve beat 5.0s and scats. But the mustang is faster mod for mod. It can naturally aspirated run 10 second quarter miles. When you add turbos 7-8 second quarter miles. The fastest gti in the world right now just broke the 9.9 second quarter mile. They have small supercharger 5.0s faster than that. I run a 11.5 second quarter mile.
These new muscle cars are fast i mean they are all so close I honestly wouldn't count any one out for speed or power comparisons. Its really down to whats the best option for you 2door,4door whatever fits your needs. I have a scatpack charger but if I didn't need the4door id probably want a c6vette

My thing is this, both cars are built great, the mustang uses a lower displacement engine and it’s light and the 392 has more power and great power band that makes it competitive. Both cars are great choices I own a 2015 mustang GT that has bolt ons and and E85 tune manual and I haven’t raced a 392 yet but I’m sure it would be a close race especially for its weight and size

This is just from the years of me racing and owning both a Charger Scat and a 10 Speed Camaro SS. 60's are better for the Mustang. Scats do good on 40's. But the longer the race goes on weight and aero will come in to effect.

Interesting. The stang is down 25hp but makes up for it in weight but then the charger makes up for it's weight by having much wider tires for more traction lol . I have an 18' GT with FBO's 305's in the rear and a tremec T56 magnum Trans I haven't raced any 392's yet would be interesting to see.

Y’all always see fully loaded scats and compare them to base ass calculator screen 5.0s. 5.0 is 36k base with a small screen and no features what so ever. Scat pack comes with Apple CarPlay and shit for 39k

At this point it just comes down to if you want/need a back seat. Both sound good and are neck and neck. Same ball park price wise too

If he change his shift point i the rom setting, and set rev match. It would be a better run. Even on track mode it shift early than it can on stock settings
All these races ended at around 100-110. Not long enough for the 10 speed to really shine top end.

Love both cars! But this is why I'm getting a Hellcat widebody Charger soon. Just want to separate myself from the 5.0s and Camaros SS on the power spectrum side of things.😃
You won’t be separating yourself from the blown 5.0s....I speak from experience.

@@mr.300c not to argue, but I can walk a hellcat with a coyote and a blower. And that’s still at least $40k less than a hellcat. So mentioning money doesn’t really work out in this case. If we are talking money, hp/dollar is clearly in the mustang’s favor.
@@foulball5180 i dont think i explained my comment clearly 😉. We aren't talking about mods, money, cost per HP etc. So lets take those two things out the equation.
We are talking about stock for stock. As a Mopar guy, I want a Hellcat because it is more powerful than a 5.0 and Chevy SS (which are very common on the roads where I live). So this will distinguish me from those type of cars right out the gate. That's all I'm referring to player 🤝🏿

Gotta run it with a Challenger it’s lighter. I got a 2019 392 charger and every 392 challenger 2015 and up I’ve ran seemed to start walking after a certain distance. Great race though love both cars.
I honestly believe sport mode is faster bro. I ran a 5.0 in track at a 40 roll and I got the jump by not crazy and then in sport it was a different story lol

Put the car in track. Hold the downshift paddleshifter down for about 3 sec, it'll shift to the lowest gear possible at the speed you're in and punch the throttle.
