    Thanks for the helpful tips and advice. I'm doing my first headshot gig this week and I'm stoked. I've been practicing with lighting and while I have a wealth of options (24-70, Nifty50, 85 f/2, 100macro, and 70-200 - all RF) the 100macro is my favorite with the 85 a very close second. The other lenses get a bit too close to the subject for me and the longer focal length, I think, releaves some tension during the shoot.

I suppose my dream body would be a z8 or z9 but honestly it's kinda overkill to me so when I do switch I'll probably just grab a z6ii or maybe z7ii if I start to feel like I need more MP but right now I definitely don't.

    Despite the time I follow your content, it's good to hear that again. I'm a Sony user, sticked to my A7III + 24-70 Zeiss. Then I bought a 85 prime for headshots. This one has a better image quality than my zoom lens, even if it's not an expensive one. The distance to my subject/perspective is great, but the minimum focusing distance is way too long for details shots unfortunately. Is it a problem for you sometime?
    For fashion the zoom makes me way more efficient. That's why I wish I could get my hands on a 70-200 to try.
    F3.2 is great for portraits, can't agree more!

    • @BandH
      @BandH  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks for checking out the video. If it's the FE 85mm f/1.8 that you have, the focus distance is not as short. This tends to be with most 85mm options for Sony E. A 70-200mm lens would definitely give you a lot more flexibility in terms of the angle of view.

It's pretty much my dream combo although I'm definitely interested in the rumored 2nd version of the 50S cause I'd love that tilting viewfinder. I just replaced an Einstein as my main light with a Godox AD400Pro with the AC converter into a 22" diffused beauty dish. This gives me the option of switching to TTL when doing a studio shoot with multiple looks to quickly find the best exposure values for my lighting (otherwise I'm usually on manual). It also stops down enough to let me shoot at f/2 without ND filters!

      Awesome video Peter, huge fan of your work and your videos, you’re so fun to watch and I always learn a ton. Thank you.
      I’m using the R5 with kit 24-105mm F4 and it works beautifully in the right lighting. Looking at the RF 100 macro next bc I’m curious about the spherical aberration adjustment but eventually will get an RF 85mm F 1.2 as my current Goal lens.
      Dream lens would be an EF 200mm F2.0 bc Manny Ortiz sold me on that beast. Subjects just explode out of those shots.

      @@peter_hurley well, way to make me reconsider my whole philosophy going forward 🤯. I rented the RF 70-200mm once and absolutely loved it
