- Matthew Stevens' class reappeared for the pleasure of all snooker fans and reminded us what he is made of. Brave shots, great cue-ball control and superb counterattacks.
The statistics shown in the video correspond to the date of the match.
Cesar Muroya created a unique editing technique to extract the essence of the game without losing the drama involved. Contextual information is also an innovation appreciated by viewers.
This format is not intended to substitute the full version but rather to make snooker more accessible to new fans. The fluency and atmosphere of the game stay in a shorter length video, allowing even experienced fans to enjoy snooker at any time.

My greatest wish to see Matthew win the World Championship. I’ll never give up hope. He’s always been my favourite ❤
If someone from the future came to me in early 2000s and said stevens wont win a worlds and pretty much wont win much else at all...well i would be shocked lol. Fantastic player at his best.
I've always admired Matthew. Top class and under appreciated
came here to write a very similar comment, hopefully he'll win the world title at some point
@@chembleton he asked to go out with my daughter.
He looks very good. And not so boring like most these days to watch. I guess he needs better consistency.
Affirmative
He is to Williams what Higgins was to Hendry.
Yep... one of those few players i'm always rooting for, his skill and talent and 'class' are so obvious. He deserves some success coz he's not weak in the head, either.
I've gone for drinks with Matt after an exhibition he did near me and he is one of the most genuine, friendly guys about. Brilliant sense of humour as well! Always support him when he plays!
Between this video from Cesar Muroya and your endearing personal anecdote, I have a newfound appreciation for Matt Stevens. Thank you, Patrick Lynch.
Always felt he’s never been quite the same player since his great mate Paul Hunter passed.
Losing his dad and his best mate must have been a huge blow.
Matthew was really in top form, and I'm hoping this signals more magnificent performances to come. To beat a former world number one takes a lot of skill, and to even take on the shots that he did against Selby was astounding. But it was the way Matthew really put them away was top of the line.
Stevens has really underachieved, despite having had a good career. Terrific all-round player. Hopefully he can come back and play at his best again.
Great To see Matthew back in tremedus Action .. Congratulations Matthew..
It's the simple truth: "Cesar Muroya created a unique editing technique to extract the essence of the game without losing the drama involved. Contextual information is also an innovation appreciated by viewers.

Thanks again, Cesar Muroya for your terrific sharings -- including another brilliant insight (in so few words) from my favorite snooker commentator/analyst of the past 50 years, Clive Everton:
"Century breaks are very nice, but those 60 and sometimes 70 clearances, from behind to win on pink or black -- they are the very essence of top class snooker."
That pot by Mathew Stevens in the first frame shown to move the red over the right middle pocket was brilliant.Great highlight reel of snooker Cesar.👍
3:30 insane shot..bravo mr. Stevens
Bolton wanderers football matches at
Stevens is underrated
It's been great to see him hit form again in the last while
its beautiful to watch him. What a player he is.
only 1 thing spoils the common impression a bit - his face expression, that reveals a slight uncertainty
@@user-ke9dh2vm4r 100% agree with you.
How come it is the first time I see Matthew Stevens? What he is doing is amazing, on par with the best!
Bc he lack the little you need to be best. He was a good player.
Seeing him play
Just reminds me how much he deserves a world championship title
Yes he Does Deffenatly . .
Definetely Matthew is up there with Jimmy White as two of the greatest never to win at the Crucible. Class act, really like his game.
And Ding Junhui
Seriously Steven is a Champion material. Love him soo much
One of snookers good guys no one has a Bad word against him I'm sure
Matthew is a great player , very steady player .. and has become better over the years ..
Cingratulations Matthew .,..
I dint have an idea there was such a beast out there
That double on blue was brave.
Brilliant play!!
Brilliant, should be winning more.
Mathew Stevens. Yes an under achiever but a highly underrated one.
Very informative video editing
Many thanks
Go on Matthew About Time An All Bruv ,, welcome back And Dont Stop .. look at nigel bond ,, your both Aces
I love Matthew Stevens as a player but I really wished he won more titles.
Especially the 2005 WSC against Shaun Fat Murphy!
Stevens is a bit like Jimmy White: got some titles including the Uk and the Masters and got some finals at the crucible but not enough for the win
Well done Steve. Great to see some confidence coming back.
Played some great snooker there and I hope you can start climbing the rankings back to where you belong.
Steve who? 😂
Matthew knows!!!
It’s a long long story, but I’m so chuffed to see him playing so well.
Jack Lisowski also played so well in Scottish open.
make a video on that.
Love from india🤩
Let me see it please and I'll let you know.
Best potter
14:30 "he might not get another one now". Yeah of course, there's no more red left on the table. 😅
Joke aside, that was a very sharp & clean shot by Maguire, also great play from Steven.
Come on stevens let’s see a revival brother only 44yrs young
Well played
Nicely done!! Cheers!!;-)!
Thank you! Cheers!
Used to see a lot of him in my home town where he lives, seemed very arrogant but his skills are undeniable
V gud editing
Keep it up
Ya damn brave
Smart played
Bravo buddy .. 👌🏽👌🏽
Great video again, Cesar. Matthew definitely had a bit of a renaissance at this year's UK. An idea for the brief scrolling text would be having the win/lost in a different colour to make it stand out. Green for win, red for lost. Thanks.
Thanks Stephan!
I like green, but it depends on the background colour so that it stands out. I will try your idea (maybe yellow) when the text can go unnoticed.
He is a good player that No one can make. Simple mistake even that he is not constraining that seriously.
Matthew should have won alot more ronnie has said that plenty of times
His swiftness towards shots reminds of Steven lee
Boi cymru 🏴
how am I going to tell my grandkids that Dominic Dale and Ryan Day both won double the amount of ranking titles Stevens had
Stevens was far better and in top 10 or 20 best snooker players of all time he's got to be top 16 ever actually, 2 world finals lost in semis 4 more times, 1 uk winner 2 runners up, 1 masters winner. Sadly lesser events he never seemed to won, despite reaching handful of finals. So much talent shame he never got what I feel he deserved but theres still a little time left I feel
I know its hard to believe, criminal how little stevens ended up winning.
stephen hendry and matt stevens are the most unflinching players İ've ever seen in snooker
If Stevens stopped playing poker and concentrated on Snooker he could do a Williams and become World Champ. Come on Matthew!
Good to see the Welsh Dragon breathing fire again.
Also only 3 players have appeared in all 3 triple crown events the same season this centuary Stevens, Williams and Selby
Plus only 3 have made 5 or more centuries in World championship final this century Steven's, O'Sullivan and Trump.
He is the only one to both random stat just thought off
mats potting is high class, but then hes a class act.
superrrbbb
Brave, confident 👌👌
his playing style is bit like Ronnie
i never made the connexion before but after reading your comment i saw it immediately.. no wonder i like this guy...
wow omg😱😱😱
Good play from a good player should have won way more than what he has done. An underachiever for sure. But still has time to win some more
12:49 Seriously hard shot under pressure... abosulutely perfect
Underrated and under achieved. He won the UK and Masters and made two world finals...he could've been a triple crown winner.
What happened to Mark Selby vs Mathew Stevens at 5 5?
It's on the screen, Stevens won the decider 53-13.
3:29 to 3:32 those sounds
No Clap for 4:57 😕🥺😒
Players to have made 5 or more centuries in world final.
Osullivan
Trump
Stevens
Hendry
J. Higgins
Players to have appeard in all triple crown events same season.
S davis
Hendry
Stevens
Williams
Selby
Players to have been in 5 or more triple crown and never lost by more than 4.
J davis
Pulman
Reardon
Stevens
3 random lists and hes the only 1 to be in all 3 and in great company too
Wow Maguire has really pudged out
Giving no chance to the opponent
Why does Selby always look so angry?
Why is he always lookin so grumpy
Stevens has more personality than half these chumps
01:08 - Red positioned by luck. Over expression. Bloody bucker
He is aging badly though
The lethal radar individually stuff because mall undoubtedly suspect along a scintillating broccoli. didactic, boorish cloth
Slowby is not so good at potting balls, so he plays negative shots
3:49 smiling because he can't play such shots
Good player but such a bottler
