I’m 14 months into my microloc journey and I have exclusively retwisted. My hair is strong and healthy. Retwisting takes a shorter amount of time and honestly I prefer the look better. My maintenance schedule is every 7 wks. I workout 3-4 times a wk and wash every 2 wks and it holds it fine. Yours locs look so good!
okay wow! Now I need to check out your hair. Thanks so much for sharing!
I plan on switching to retwisting. I have 2 questions! 1. What product do you use to retwist? 2. Do you have good pics of your locs that show the size of them, including the base/part sizes
@@rhondamonique9686 I go to a loctician for retwists every 7 wks, and she uses Loc n Gel. I have a few videos on TikTok showing my locs-KahaleNaturals
My hair is almost to my waist. When i say I'm tired of interlocking I'm DONE! Thank you for this video! 🙏🏿
I’m currently moving to retwisting/semi free forming my micro locs. I’m so excited to see what happens. If it goes wrong I’m gonna just cut them off 😂
Yes! Exactly! I might as well try and see what works!
Video ideas:

Wow! Thanks so much for this, I’ll definitely be doing some of these!
I started with coils and only retwist too!

Wow ! Do you have an IG page? I’d love to see your hair!
@@theminimalistnaturalI came to ask her the same question because I started with finger coils and it's an uncommon method to start with
Ooo really ? I’m getting my consultation tomorrow for mine and my loctician is thinking coils
@@Candicedickinsonllc I love my micro locs I started with coils😁 best decision
Do you have an IG page please?
Whew honestly, many people who let their locs get super long they end up switching to coils anyway because it’s too much work to pull 3+ feet of loc through the root numerous times in order to tighten them when they’ve got like 500 locs 💯
right about this!
Exactly! My hair is mid back and I can't interlock anymore it's causing trauma to my scalp and thinning! That's what they DONT mention
I am seriously considering this because the interlocking hurts my head so much!
Yes!! The head aches I get are actually insane.

What do you put on your hair?
another method that is gaining momentum is called “knotted locks” by Melissa Blake’s.
Information please
Hi, I've been loc'd almost 2 years. I've recently started working work out. How often do you recommend washing? My current interlock schedule is every 6 weeks. I also want to start using clarifying shampoo. Any recommendations?
Your schedule sounds perfect. :) No shampoo recommendations. I personally keep it simple with african black soap!
Where did you purchase the mirror that you use to see the back of your hair
Amazon!
You’re beautiful! I could barely stay focused on the video, lol .
After going ~12 weeks with so much new growth, how many full rotations do you go through would you say ? And is it a 4 point? Thank you for sharing this . I often wondered as my husband and I want locs and wanted to know more about going back and forth. ❤
You’re too kind thank you!! I counted between about 16 and 24 points which is about 4-6 full rotations. Yes , I do 4 point rotations. I will have a video up soon about my experience.
How often do you wash your hair on a regular basis? I’m interested in starting microlocs (and retwisting for maintenance), but do like to wash my hair weekly and am afraid the retwists will just unravel after a week.
I only wash my hair once a month typically. I did the same as a loose natural. When I first started my locs i washed every week to speed up the locking process. If you interlock you can wash whenever you want. If you want to wash weekly I do NOT recommend retwisting.
My question would only be how long does it last vs interlocing
it lasts a month for me!
hi, how many locs do you have ? did you start them with twists ?
Yes I started them with twists. I’m not sure my loc count but over 400!
@@theminimalistnatural ty, your hair's soo pretty btw
So are you saying that you interlock your hair and then you go about 12 weeks without interlocking. And during that time you are retwisting. And then at about 12 weeks you interlock all of the new growth from the 12 weeks?? I'm confused because I thought that if you retwist your hair instead of interlocking you can just solely do that. I'm not understanding the purpose of still doing both methods. In your opinion, is it okay to just stick with retwisting?
Yes you are exactly right. You can just retwist but not many ppl do that’s why I’m scared to commit 😅😅😅😅 So I always end up fully interlocking the new growth.
Won’t Going longer (12 wks) between interlocking sessions just make the process take longer and defeat the purpose? I’m just curious.
oh absolutely!! I was saying that 12 weeks is the MAX I go :-)
