    UGH I NEEDED this so bad😭😭as a chronic rule follower I’ve given myself a lot of anxiety trying to follow the microloc rules and thinking my hair would be doomed if I didn’t. Coming up on my 1 year and I’m soooo ready to let some of that go! Your hair is gorgeous girl 😍😍would love to see how you maintain your locs in the interim🤲🏾🤲🏾

    Gurl….i realized everything you said after my sisterlocs install and that FIRST retightening. I took my SL down after that. It felt like having to a perm mindset culture to me. If they see their roots come in…time to get that “re-tie” every 4-6 weeks,,,,just like relaxer!! These women still are afraid to see their roots.smh Thank you for confirming what I already knew. And that’s why sisterlocs were created with the same “relaxer” mindset ladies…..this was the owner’s intention. Genius, if you ask me. Still have black women in bondage to hairstylists every 6 weeks. So glad ‘I have my thick semi Freeform traditional locs. True hair freedom. Your roots and locs are gorgeous!

    My hair grows out of the loc so I can’t go beyond two months but this is admirable as hell! I am thinking of maybe squeezing a retwist in so I can maybe push to three or four months. I never cared about a grid I think the obsession with it is one of the most annoying things about this style. I had traditionals so I know how it goes but I love how you keep it unconventional! This is needed

    Yes that's why I switched over to 100% retwisting my micro locs. I got tired of having to keep up with a 6-8 weeks schedule. Though I have 452 micro locs, they're not extra small so I could go long periods of time without retwisting. I'm currently 6 weeks post maintenance but I'm going for 12 weeks before I retwist. When I stopped interlocking, my hair thickened up and I'm loving it!

    Yes thank and it is a struggle to find styles with fresh micro locs. All styles are with matured locs. And i started my locs with a grid in the back because i thought it was necessary but i found ONE video that had free parting and was so happy so the back of my hair has a grid and the rest os free part. I like free part better because i diy my locs. I got a baby to feed i aint spending 1k plus on my hair😅

    I have sisterlocs but I cant afford the retighs anymore and my loctitian is so far that now its an inconvenience after having my 3rd baby. I have started re-twisting because its easier and faster than interlocking. I know its not the standard but i don't want to cut off my locs after all the money i have poured into them. $1700 to start and $250 every month for retighs for the past 2 years now smh.

  • @bettyeames6812

    I have gone as long as 4.5 months without retightening my locs. Then, I got paranoid about thinning g locs and I want to swim during the summer so back to interlocking for me. I don’t have a problem with holes in my locs. I have 10 coily locs in the back that I am not interlocking. The texture of my hair is probably 4C here. Each of these locs is the dimension of a coil of hair. I wish all my locs were like this but my hair texture changes across my scalp. New subscriber here. I’m interested to see how your experiment goes. I have 212 locs and they are fat compared to yours. 😊

  • @txLALA

    I’m grown so will do whatever I want. I get reties every 6-8 weeks to make sure my new growth doesn’t merge and tangle. I’ve never heard of retwisting, but I know I’m not doing that to 400+ locks. It’s just easier for me to go to my loctician and sit for 2-3 hours and that plus weekly washing is all I have to do. That’s very low maintenance for me.

      @theminimalistnatural Před dnem

      yes, you just have to pay attention to your hair and do what works FOR YOU. there’s no one size fits all. I know of locticians that won’t retie your hair if you wait longer than 6-8 weeks. So you have to be able to service yourself these days

      @moderndaycynic695 Před dnem

      It's not aesthetics. Medium to fine density hair people with SL or very small microlocs will have breakage and loc damage from prolonged times without maintenance. The smaller the loc and the finer the hair texture the less time they can go without maintenance. I have personally loss locs going too long.

    • @theminimalistnatural
      @theminimalistnatural Před 11 hodinami

      @@moderndaycynic695 Hmm, i guess it just depends on what is defined as “prolonged.” Most ppl’s hair should not be falling off because they missed a 6 week apt and if it is, I think there’s a deeper issue at play.
