  • In our last video you saw that our F56 Mini Cooper S had an Eventuri Intake System fitted, this was in prep for the car to go to Essen Motor Show and be displayed on the Eventuri stand.
    In this video we take a closer look at the intake system, show you the install process, and then get the car out on the road to see how the car feels, along with discussing performance data.

    Have you guys heard of the kit causing an increase to the fuel range? After the initial install, I fueled up & my fuel range increased from 350 mls per tank to over 415 mls per tank.
    Best investment I've made so far in my F56. So glad you guys were able to roll out number 550 five weeks earlier than the original back order date to ship.

    What causes that fluttery noise with the intake? I assume things are just more audible but does the design via the hood scoop change the dynamics resulting in the fluttering sound? What does it signify?

    • @ubuntuify
      @ubuntuify Před 2 lety

      That’s a the blowoff valve from the turbo, purely being more audible and not directly related to the box. It’s a normal piece of kit on a turbocharged engine: a way out for excess air (which is why you hear it so much on the downturn of the rev: the turbo is still spinning, but the engine is asking for less combustion, ergo less air and fuel)

    • @EvolveAutomotive

      Since we have a direct airflow path to the filter, it is important that we also allow for water to be drained before reaching the filter. In order to protect against excess water ingress, we have designed several features into the intake components as follows.
      1) The top of the scoop covers the openings which stops rainfall entering the duct when the car is at a standstill.
      2) The scoop has 2 flow directing ramps which also act as a water barrier by forcing the water to fall down onto the base of the duct rather than moving straight to the filter area.
      3) The duct has 2 openings to allow water to drain out - above the radiator and also a drain hole before the filter housing connection.
      4) The face of the duct as it meets the filter housing has a wall on which the rubber edging is secured. This wall stops any build up of water from directly entering the filter and water is drained through the extra drain hole.

      that filter element looks to be a cotton type similar to that (if not identical to K&N) so it could also be an oiled type (to catch dirt) however that doesn't prevent water going further into the intake channel/engine unless a rain shield/cover is fitted.

    Or maybe throw a pressure sensor into the inlet ? To see if there really is a ram air effect.
    I mean the turbo sucks air in anyway… yes a tad more cool air under the bonnet (maybe) but only if the factory inlet is actually too small…
    And the noise, honestly that sounds like a loose pulley to me….
    Anc that’s way too much money for Carbon look parts that I dislike anyway.
    Last not least, do a weight comparison between the stock and this “system” the only purpose for a carbon part in my world is either stiffness (if it’s a load bearing part) or weight savings or both… and then I look at myself and I know where I could save so many kilos without any carbon…

    • @EvolveAutomotive
      @EvolveAutomotive  Před rokem

      Yes, proven on both independent dynos and in real world on road testing.
      The use of carbon fibre is because of its excellent properties as an insulator. Go for a drive and feel how heat soaked the standard plastic is. That heat is radiating in to your intake system raising your IAT even further.

      @wattybrownes Před 5 lety +1

      @@EvolveAutomotive the only differences are your claiming the scoop will force air in... Won't make it cooler, won't make it flow quicker. In fact the air filter your using only allows between 0.14-0.16% more air in. The only benefit is heat soak. I'm going to bet as you have gone for a reverse style filter that there is no real space between the carbon cone and filter. So waste of time.
      Simply post a video of the mini on dyno running stock air intake with bonnet down and without cutting video, install new intake and run dyno 6 times. I bet you will only see a slight increase of power like 1-3 bhp and maybe 8-10 ft lb of gains. If the power drops each run still then its not worth it.
