- Back in August 2023 I used my referral points to sign up for 3 months of enhanced autopilot on my Tesla Model Y. This video takes you through that process and then also gives you my thoughts on EAP 4 months later. It was also a decent length road trip from Melbourne to Woodonga, and so there's a bit of that in there too. ☺️
You can find all my referral codes on my website - www.notacarguy.io

My favourite episodes are the ones with Simon. A couple of entertaining guys on a road trip. Keep them coming.
Don't tell him that, his ego is big enough. 🤣
Really enjoyable and informative watch. Love the honesty and not just praising Tesla.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your comment. Glad you enjoyed the video. ☺️
Love the banter between you too!
Thanks, we do have fun. 😀
Yeah, now pay up! ..oh, wait, no... @@notacarguy_au
Just did my first road trip (albeit minor) in my new model 3 RWD. Round trip: Bentleigh East to Inverloch and back, with various side excursions. Very pleased with the efficiency. 366km, 120W/km, I’m got home with 22% battery remaining.
That’s great to hear! Hopefully it’s the first of many enjoyable and stress free trips. 😀
@@notacarguy_au it was an interesting experience. I started out with the usual range anxiety of a new EV driver even though I’m well informed and technically savvy enough to understand that wasn’t a real problem. Nonetheless, I was surprised by how well it went. Those roads are all 100km/hr max which helps but although I’ve never been a lead foot, I wasn’t trying to maximise range. Nonetheless, those figures suggest a total range of ~470km under similar conditions which is way above my expectations.
Ooooo... Another road trip vid?
I will settle in and watch later tonight.
By settle, I mean position myself under the AC vent with a cold drink.
It is a tad warm isn’t it? 🤣
@@notacarguy_au Just a little..
Ok.. I started early.
Tell Simon it was Axl Rose running over Rex Manning wasn't it?
It's been a while since I watched the film but I celebrate Rex Manning day every year.
Such a great movie. 👍🏻
Lee, I truly appreciate your commitment to unscripted conversations. It feels refreshing and genuine, like having a chat with a friend. So thanks for that!
My main concern has been EAP's erratic lane changes. It's like a confused driver, swerving back and forth for no reason, even changing its mind mid-lane, as you suggest, dangerous. Mistaking incoming turning lanes for mine and attempting sudden left turns with a car next to me was a hair raising experience.
Summoning? Not gonna lie, I haven't had the stomach to trust it near tight parking spaces yet. And speaking of parking, EAP's glacial pace and obliviousness to anything outside its immediate cone nearly led to a pole-hugging tango.
Adding to the frustration, Perth's EAP zones are like desert oases - scarce and unpredictable. The freeway and a sliver of Graham Farmer offer fleeting glimpses of its potential, only to vanish like mirages on Orrong Road.
I get it, EAP's still learning, but these hiccups are making me re-evaluate its "autopilot" status. Maybe some clearer lane logic, object detection beyond its nose, and a Perth zone expansion would make it more worthwhile.
Anyone else experiencing EAP's Perth-i-cular quirks?
I would agree with all of that. Except for the standard Summon and the lane change (that I initiate) I don’t think the other features are ready for prime time.
@@notacarguy_au Yeah, the initiated lane change is good, I need to try the summon in a controlled environment, I'd like to see how it behaves first hand before trusting it amongst other cars and objects.
Give the summon a try. I haven’t used it more than 5-10 times, but it’s been ok those times that I’ve used it. This is the standard Summon, not the Smart Summon, which does work, but it’s a bit slow and makes some “interesting “ turning decisions. 😂
@@notacarguy_au Yes, I will give it a try. As you said, it would be good if the package could be broken down, I'm sure a lot more people would make use of the smaller components like summon, lane changing, etc.
16:15 v2 chargers will max out at 130kzw unless sharing with your neighbour
That makes sense. Thanks.
Hey friends! Nice video! I have a bit of FOMO - sad I couldn’t come along on this road trip!
And you were missed. ☺️ Next time. ☺️
Fun trip! Thanks for taking me along.... **should we tell everyone yet?!... Mandy!?** .....and oh my goodness, can I use a mirror and do my hair before I'm in your videos!! hahah
🤣
If you don't want to use Lee's code, you can use mine 🤣🤣
Love the content by the way :-)
Feel free to post your link here. Happy to share the love. 😀
thanks for ensuring I don't waste my money on this. Never seen anything so half baked. What's the point when you have to action indicator and be 100% alert to everything around you. I assume the summon only works in an outdoor 1 storey car park. have not been in one for years. its poor that auto park costs $5,100. as that is the only thing that is useful.
Well, I'm glad I could be helpful for you. 🤷🏻
For that price, it should chew your food, and swallow it for you, and auto-pour tea into gullet too. More laziness.
I believe that's coming in a future update. 😜
22:23 Apparently the S3XY button app now has the ability to do this now (turn AP back on).
interesting, I wonder how it's doing that?
It's all done through the CAN bus so it has to be some kind of Voodoo.
There are some cool things that you can do with it all but I'm not sure I want to be messing around at that level.
Hi! I really enjoyed your excellent video, but, for us non-ozzies, you might consider using subtitles so we can enjoy the jokes! Thank you !!
Thanks, there should be some auto created subtitles on there already. I'm sorry, but I've tried manually creating subtitles, but for a 1 hour video, it's just too much work. I hope you understand. ☺️
@@notacarguy_au Thanks for taking the trouble to answer my remark. It was a bit of a joke! Actually I do understand some Australian expressions! I really enjoy your videos!
