- This was a really interesting experience. A couple of mates of mine have converted a Delorean into an EV. They had it on display at the Melbourne Grand Prix and asked me if I could help them with the trip of using a Model X to tow it back to Canberra. We thought we’ make it a bit more interesting buy booking me on a flight back that night. Will I make to Canberra Airport in time? 😉
Whilst I mention in the video that I don't have a relationship with EVEE, my mate Chris over at @chrisvanderstock
does, so if you're keen on giving it a go, please show him some love and use his link and code for a discount :)

Great video again. Always entertaining and a little bit silly 😂. Where was that supercharger in WA that you showed at the end? I think WA superchargers are a fair bit behind compared with the eastern states so am always interested in new charging locations. Thanks Lee
Thanks Gary, I'm sorry but I didn't get the name of the supercharger in WA, the pics where sent to me.
@@notacarguy_au no worries, thanks anyway. I’ll have to keep my eyes peeled then
I think it may be the new drive through Supercharger at Kojonup (on the way to Albany).
@@PeterGrigg thanks 👍🏻
It seems the entire network of charging stations is not designed for towing. I imagine they will have to redesign these stations in the future.
You’re right that it doesn’t seem like towing has been taken into consideration much, but I don’t think it needs to be completely redesigned. It only needs to 2 or so to be added with towing in mind. Not all locations would have the space, but I think it’s certainly not a huge undertaking to improve things.
Just curious - how difficult would it have been to unhitch the car trailer nearby the Superchargers? I don't know what type of trailer or the hitching arrangement was, so perhaps it would have been too hard? I've spoken to a guy last year towing a large boat behind his Model Y at a supercharger, and he said he just unhitched it and left it up the road as the supercharger we were at was underneath a shopping centre, so there would have been no way to drive the boat and trailer in.
Yeah, we did have that option, but it would have probably been about 5-10 min to unhitch and then hitch again. And you gotta crawl around a bit. Not the end of the world but for this trip we were against the clock and so wasn’t really an option.
I guess if you’re not in a hurry and depending on what’s involved in unhitching and hitching you could do that. But is better if you don’t need to unhitch.
Also, with the Model x you gotta kinda crawl under it at the back to plug the trailer in and unplug it for the lights. So a bit of a faf.
