Kinda surprised no one is talking about how Viggo deliberately lightened the mood with the kiss and got a better performance out of the scene. It's pretty amazing that he could sense things were just a bit tense and awkward, and just improvised a way to make the scene a little less weird. It's just so cool that he elevated the film even in scenes he wasn't in. Makes sense why he was so popular on set.

You know.. I've probably seen all the behind the scene videos of Lord of the Rings on youtube, and what I find super funny is that all the actors make the production feel like it's a high school theatre club. The way they interact with each-other, their personalities etc. but then they're all mixed up within a super professional movie production. It's super fun to watch hahah

Well, Viggo Mortensen did end up coming out as a not "completely straight" man years later. I also remember seeing him kissing, what I assumed, was his male partner at an awards show years back. He was able to get some action by pretending it was a joke on set lmao. There was definitely some truth in the statement about Billy.
Of all the literal thousands of insane stories out of these three movies, this is number 1. Hands down. And the way they tell it, is just perfection. And Dominic not knowing about it and cracking up. lol.

I have watched this approximately 4 times and it makes me overwhelmingly happy every time because Viggo is just too adorable.
