@@widexawake_ What makes it even crazier is that he wasn't even the first choice. Perhaps not even the second since Jackson apparently offered the role multiple times to Daniel Day Lewis and was adamant with the casting department that the role was for him and him alone. When he repeatedly denied it, the role was offered to and I believe was actually accepted by Stuart Townsend. Jackson didn't trust how he was playing the character though and finally it was given to Viggo, and my god... I can't even begin to imagine the trilogy without him.

@@Mr_Jish Yeah, iirc they only finalized Viggo as Aragorn like a week before filming started or something crazy like that

I love the fact that they're nerding out about LOTR as much as we are, it's so wholesome.

I met Billy Boyd at Trent University in Ontario Canada roundabouts 2012 - the crowd was a little small because there was a massive snowstorm. He did a wonderful talk with the crowd for hours, and then afterwards stayed and talked to every single person one on one after and I remember being just so enchanted by how lovely and down to earth he was.

Great to see their chemistry after all these years. I bet that is why they were cast together, you just feel instant buddyhood between them.

Merry did get married! He married Estella Bolger. His children are not named but he had at least one son.
Also, in the books pipe weed is specifically mentioned to be a form of nicotine/tobacco plant. Otherwise a lot of accurate LOTR commentary in amongst the funny banter

Wow, Dom is 44 and still looks as good as he did in LOTR… Billy is in his 50a but continues to have that youthful behavior today!

The casting people for LOTR did a great job in traveling all the way to England and Scotland and finding two actual Hobbits to play Merry and Pippin.
