- KINGSLEY NORTH -
Kingsley North is a lapidary store in Michigan's U.P. They make a great cab machine and sell many other brands too. They have a huge selection rough rock, tumblers, grit, jewelry supplies etc. at good prices. I buy most of my coarse grit from here in 45 lb. bags. It's the best price I have found. If you buy using the following link, I make a small commission.

I buy a lot of lapidary supplies from The Rock Shed. I don't make money from your purchases there, but they have good prices and good service. This is where I buy my finer grits and polish.

Nancy took an early lead, and Rob began to catch her as it went on. However, I am a banded chert lover and her piece reminded me of a crazy pattern found on a large Madagascar agate, minus the colors. Although it was close, I gave the win to Nancy. Rob, your banded chert was breath taking as well. Chert doesn't get the respect it deserves. All beautiful rocks, making it hard to hard to pick a winner, and thanks for including so many different types of minerals.
It came down to battle of the cherts! I was sure I had the best one, too.
Couldn't agree more! I'm also a chertoholic!
@@MichiganRocks soo verry nice colección
@@MichiganRocks Hey I have good Ágatas in my vidio can you give me a hand People lock my vidios I start to do this nice aventura thank you soo moch
I should add, Nancy needs to appear in more videos. She shares your wry sense of humor -- one of the best things about your videos (apart from the rocks, of course).
Thank you. I usually like to avoid all cameras but I guess retirement has given me a little more time to check out Rob's rock hobby.
I agree, Jonathan. I always feel a little awkward talking to a camera by myself in the basement. It feels more natural to have a conversation with another person, especially Nancy.
It's too hard to choose. I really enjoy hearing you two dispute rock quality. So we all win!
The viewers are the winner here.
20 awesome rocks, and you two are great together.
As you said you tumbled them all, but I liked Nancy’s picks best
You two are funny, you both picked fine specimen not one was better than the other so it's an equal vote for me✌️ Napa California
Stunning...absolutely gorgeous....all the rocks are winners, and Nancy's hair is the the most gorgeous of all...I LOVE it!
My thinning hair didn't do it for you?
Well, I didn't expect that compliment but thank you!
@@MichiganRocks Not like Nancy's...lol
@@nancyabram229 I always hoped for that look...and I did NOT get that! It's gorgeous!
"I'm not a science teacher, but I do like tiger eye" made me laugh really hard! Gotta go with Rob on this one!
Good choice!
I love when you guys are together doing videos, you just look so cute together and crack me up. As foe who's rock collection Iiked best, it was so very close. I gave each rock a point if I really liked it. So I didn't come up with a winner, you both had 7 rocks I was wowed by. But then Nancy was right Rob you should loose a point for not knowing what kind of rock you polished. So in the end Nancy wins by a major laugh. That comment cracked me up. Thank you both for making my night a bit better with a laugh. Thanks for sharing the video.
I probably should admit that Rob told me the name of a few of my rocks too but I appreciate your support. 😉
Well dang. LOL
Heck, I have lost lots of points over the years because I don't know what many of the rocks I tumble are. I'm just happy if they're pretty rocks.
I was just teasing Rob. LOL you always admit you don't know it all. That's what I like about you, you're honest and humble.
I absolutely couldn’t choose. All beautiful but I love that you two are can enjoy this together.
Sometimes I think Nancy tolerates my hobby more than loves it. She appreciates the rocks and some jewelry that I make for her, but she puts up with a lot of noise from the basement.
Awesome video Rob and Nancy, all of those rocks are gorgeous, beautiful polish work. Love the humor and you can see the love between you two. This was fun, thanks for sharing!
I'm not sure about the love, I think she was out to get me.
@@MichiganRocks that's what love is! slow revenge >:)
I think it’s even, they are all beautiful ❤️❤️❤️
Wow, those were all beautiful rocks….but I think I liked Rob’s batch just a bit better….especially the petosky, chert and crazy lace….so cool!
It's funny that the three you named were in both of our collections. I guess that goes to show how great those three rocks are.
Too fun! Love them all, but I’m a sucker for Crazy Lace…. The one Nancy had is absolutely gorgeous!! I love the pink and green. Great colors together.
Both beautiful collections ... but Nancy's was my favorite!
Are you sure? Maybe you should double check your work.
Excellent choice! No double checking is necessary.
Great rocks Rob and Nancy! I really love the turritella and the chert so I have to go with Nancy.
Thanks! The swirly chert does have appeal.
Lol gotta love all your rocks 💙😊love both choices, thank you for sharing your beautiful rocks 😊💙
I genuinely never thought I'd be interested in rocks, or rock collecting, or anything like that. I'm naturally very impatient and such hobbies have never appealed to me. But there's something about your channel which has totally drawn me in the last couple of days, and I find myself sitting through nearly hour-long videos watching rocks get shiny. And now this highlight reel of rocks! Awesome stuff, thanks for the videos and knowledge you give us.
That's really fun to hear. I'm not sure how people without an interest in rocks even find my channel. Then to sit through one of my longer rock tumbling videos seems like it would be really boring. Those were aimed at people who actually want to tumble their own rocks. When spring arrives, you should think about getting out and finding some rocks of your own.
These rocks make me think of other things. Like oh, this one looks like smoke and clouds. The picture jasper one is amazing, I would have thought it man-made. And the pudding stone reminded me of a calico cat.
There are some really cool picture jaspers with some very realistic scenes on them. Cool stuff.
I really enjoyed this video! You two are so cute! Congratulations on being retired teachers. I’m also in that club! It was a tie but I have to lean slightly toward the pudding stone. All of the rocks are gorgeous!
Happy retirement to you too!
Retirement is fun, but I think I'm more busy making videos than I was teaching. I sure don't miss correcting papers though.
@@dnk1870 The retired teacher club? Fun, isn’t
It?
This video is gonna rock. 😎
Oh wow you guys, both of your rocks are great. I love them a lot. Thanks for showing them.
Nancy had most of my favorites. Both collections were beautiful.
Oh well, maybe next time.
Diplomacy is a virtue, so...Rob's and Nancy's are the best! Thank for the laughs, too!!😂
LOL, Nancy and Rob - love this! :) I'd say you are both winners!
Thanks, Kate! Did you cheer for the Montanas?
So great that you both enjoy rocks. Couldn't pick a winner.
I have to go with Nancy! Loved her pick of stones!
Thanks!
They are all GREAT. couldn't pick one or the other.
No such thing as an ugly rock. All were beautiful. Your both winners in my book.
You both win cuz they're all beautiful. (But yay Nancy having more fossils.) 💖🦅🦅
I'm going to vote for Nancy based on her choice of banded chert. I liked the video.
Swirly does have appeal!
😆 she’s really trying to win! Love them all!!
Rob's tumbling is the best but I had each of you at 3 winners and then tied for 4 so it ended up you were tied for the contest! All gorgeous rocks!! Good job hounding or obtaining them and then tumbling them to show their best features!
Thanks, Lyn!
Great video, you two crack me up! Not even trying to be fair, because well, competition isn't fair. I came up with 5 to 5 so I'm not much help because you tied. Love the video and it was really hard because all of Rob's tumbled rocks look amazing! Thanks for sharing!✌🤠
That was my call at the beginning of the video. I think Nancy should run a tumbler full of her own and then we should compare!
@@MichiganRocks 😅😂
You Both are winners in My book.!. Great picks from you two and an amazing job by Rob, manning the tumblers...
I won't encourage your competitiveness... so I'll just say I love all of them!!! ; )
All right you two. That's pretty much impossible. It's like picking a favorite child from my children! Nancy wins it cuz there's a secret unicorn on the "boring back" of the banded chert.
Shoot, it came down to a secret unicorn?
Good eye!
That picture jasper is awesome. It's like a desert version of ocean picture stone. That one took the cake for me.
I knew I wanted a picture jasper in there. It was just a matter of deciding which one. They are interesting.
@@nancyabram229 I think you made a good choice!
Love them both, all the rocks were gorgeous. However, Nancy won by a nose. That crazy agate and banded iron were amazing.
I have to admit that crazy lace agate is really cool.
Love all of them...pudding stone is cool and so is the fossil with the shells...so it's too close to call a winner...
I gotta vote for Rob's. Would have liked your collection even better if you switched out the pudding stone for Nancy's picture jasper. This was fun. I think you Both won, when you found each other. Awwww! ; )
Awwww! I did get a winner!
I agree, Nancy is a prize.
They all were so beautiful, but I have to say I preferred Robs by a close 2 rock lead!!!
Thanks for the fun video ❣️❣️❣️
Woo-hoo, not one, but two!
Both excellent collections but my vote goes to Nancy for the amazing turritella and two awesome Mexican lace agates! You win too Rob as you tumbled them and made them all beautiful!
Thank you. I agree that Rob's tumbling skills are the real winner.
Everyone wins!
You both had some sweet ones in there, so no winner here ;-) Thanks for the presentation.
They’re both the best! Loved seeing these and enjoyed your banter. Thanks!
I admire how the two of you can a appreciate rocks together. My husband is a farmer so there is no “pretty” rock.
As I see it, the contest is a tie and you need to go back to the beaches and find the tie breaking rock! Good luck!
Oh, a challenge!
I beg to disagree… I spent many years picking rocks out of farm fields. While most were nothing special, we did haul one home for the flower garden now and then. To me, the only bad rocks were the ones we missed that went through the combine.
I have seen many puddingstones around farmers' houses, so at least some farmers seem to have a thing for them. I can understand how you could develop a grudge against all rocks if you had to pick them out of your fields every year.
Both petoskey stone are absolutely gorgeous! That crazy lace agate looked the coolest in that second grouping. I liked the turritella agate. All those shells inside are super cool to see. Both the picture jasper and the pudding stone are stunning! Beautiful banded chert pieces! Gorgeous Montana agates! That Scottish agate and the banded iron formation both look amazing! That Bruno jasper looks like tea with milk that's just been poured in it. Both Botswana agates are magnificent! Those two crazy lace agates are very pretty. It's impossible to say whi has the better picks!😍🥰😇👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😍🥰😇👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
But did you like the video, Indyana? It's so hard to tell!
@@MichiganRocks Yes, your videos are always AWESOME! They are the highlight of my week!
Does it got the root beer flavor or color? It was pretty close. Got to give it to Rob. Like this style of video. Im sure you can make a few more together about your favorites. Was fun to watch. Great video
I like when Nancy is in my videos. I don't do well just talking to a camera. I feel much more natural when there's someone to talk to.
@@MichiganRocks Good nithg...Soo nice rocks...De Michoacán México.
Loved this video! I really liked the pudding stone of Rob's and the picture jasper of Nancy's. Twenty beautiful rocks and both of you are winners in my book!
I'm going to have to call a tie. I like some of hers but like some of yours as well. Loved the video!
I'm going with Nancy's set before I even see the rocks 👋😂
Well, that's not fair!
@@MichiganRocks I was mistaken!🤷♀️
Thank you so much for the amazing video and for sharing it!!
for some reason that puddingstone tipped the scales for me but of course they are all great im with nancy on the crazy lace though
Did it tip the scales because it was the biggest rock?
I can't pick a winner! Both sets were fantastic!
Edit to add - ok ok...I have to give a slight edge to Nancy! 🤷🏽♀️The lady knows how to pick em!
I appreciate your vote but they sure are all great rocks.
Well she picked me, so I guess you're right.
It's a tie! They're ALL BEAUTIFUL!!! 💜💜💜
Both of you had great picks. Can’t choose one over the other. You two are adorable ❤️
I really enjoy when you have other people on with you your conversation are quite educational and engaging.
I always say don't toss that one.
The shows that Nancy is in, she does a bunch of tossing back. I'm grateful for seeing the specimen and I appreciate your teaching.
I enjoy having other people on to. It's more natural for me to talk to a person rather than to a camera.
@@MichiganRocks I can imagine, I've done some live feeds and completely odd to talk about anything.
it's super close but the pudding stone puts Rob's collection over the top. That collection is the best
I knew I should have went for a pudding stone too! They are all great though.
Wow!! What a great collection of rocks!! You both win. I’d love any of them. Thanks for sharing
I can't argue with that!
You two are so wholesome. Kudos from someone whose not really into the rocks scene.
Thanks for watching even though you’re not into it (yet). There’s still time!
We were the winners of this contest, I loved all of them! Thanks for the show
You're welcome!
I'm with Nancy, I feel she won by one rock. I will say I've seen many tumbled rocks and Rob your 's are the BEST hands down .
You both rock!!
Thanks! Rob definitely does great work.
Thanks, Lisa!
Can not decided! Thanks for the entertainment after a long work day! Seems like retire people should do that more often. 🤪🙃🤪 lol
Retired people should argue over rocks more often? Entertain working folks more often?
@@MichiganRocks or find other creative discussions about rocks. Lol
I loved this video…. So good seeing Nancy join you in some friendly competition. (Good seeing her any time!) Have to say that Nancy won….today. If I look again tomorrow it could be Rob. The banded hematite was the overall winner!
In that case, I really hope you look again tomorrow!
Liked them all ofcourse, but overall, I liked Nancy's bunch as a whole 💜 my faves are Petoskey, puddin, crazy lace and banded chert...but im mesmerized by that picture jasper😍
I'll be honest, I didn't even consider picture jasper.
Thanks. They are all great.
I probably wouldn't have either but thats a great piece. The Botswana agates are beautiful too, soooo many choices, so little time lol thanks for sharing, alot of fun!
Nancy’s got my vote. It just seems she has the eye for design. Of course I fell in love with them all.👍
Thank you!
I'll admit, she probably does have a better eye than I do.
Nancy has the lead but I like a lot of your rocks that you pick too
Robs wins ... the puddingstone got me although that petoskey is mighty fiiiine! I have to say I LOVE having Nancy on
It was a fun project. There were so many cool rocks to choose from.
I like having Nancy on my videos too!
Gotta go with Nancy. I'm a huge fan of lace agate and she selected 2 great pieces. That banded iron piece was really cool too. im going to keep an eye out for something like that.
Excellent thoughts!
Crazy lace is one of my favorites, but it seems like cheating to pick two of them. Then again, I might just be a poor loser.
Hi Rob n Nancy, Too close to call for me!!! I love all the rocks, but if I had to choose one winner, hummm, I think Rob won by a tiny sliver. Sorry Nancy!!! Yours were gorgeous, but, his had more color and I'm really into colors in my rocks. Thanks for the fun, I was waiting to see who clobbered who first, LOL!!! Take care, stay safe, happy, healthy & warm. Hugs. 😊 Please let us know who won!!!!
Shhh... Don't give Nancy any ideas!
I was going for more color originally but then couldn't give up some of my other choices. They are all so interesting it is hard to choose.
@@nancyabram229 I agree it's hard to choose!!! I'd get a guilty conscious and think the one beside the one I chose is thinking, "Why didn't she pick me? What's wrong with me?". Yep, I'm due to check into the "Funny Farm" any second now, LOL!!! I love all my rocks too!!! Take care!!! 😄
Faves? Nancy's 2 crazy Lace picks, Nancy's banded Iron sparkler, Nancy's mountain scape, and Rob's 3d Botswana stone.! All the rocks were great!... If you had put them side by side in a slide show, I could pick a winner, but since you didn't, the winner is whoever picked your counter! It's beautiful!🙋♀️❤❤
We just had that counter installed recently and are loving it. Thanks!
Nancy suggested doing this video upstairs for a change of scenery, but the rocks sort of disappeared over the new counter. A placemat solved that little problem. We are loving the new counter.
Beautiful!!! I'd have to call it a tie.
All of the rocks are beautiful and I enjoyed both presentations. If I were to purchase one of the collections it would be Nancy’s. Considering Rob did all the work, you’re both winners.
Rob has the most singularly interesting pieces. I really want to see shadowbanding, and your lace agate is more diverse.
But Nancy has a better curated set. Her petosky and churt are superior.
The pudding stone reminds me of a big Snoopy doll for some reason.
They are all great. Thanks for the support.
You kids are such a joy
Well, i have to say that both of your picks were great. Very beautiful rocks. I have to go with Nancy's picks and this is why. The banded chert that she chose was much better than the other one. The back wasn't too boring. It kind of looked like a shape of a unicorn on the back of it. So that's my choice of rock pick winner. I am also a science geek (have a masters in it) and very competitive in our household as well.
Thanks for your support! A little friendly competition never hurts.
You're the third person to mention the unicorn. I love both of those rocks, but there's something about the smaller one that I just really like. It might be that I tumbled that one first and it was the best self collected rock I had ever tumbled at the time. I think it might be more of an emotional attachment the more I think about it. Is that weird? Yes, I think it is.
@Michigan Rocks I'm glad I'm not the only one who saw a unicorn! I understand the attachment for sure. A lot of time and energy goes into rock hunting and tumbling for sure!
I'm thinking its not good to get in the middle of this! But seriously, they're all beautifu!
You think you might get hit by flying rocks?
@@MichiganRocks 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Is that possible?
You both rock guys. Blessings
Thanks!
I was going to say it was a tie until Rob pulled out that last one. It has been my favorite since you showed it in another video when you were tumbling it!
I'm glad Nancy talked me out of the other one now!
it's a tie, you are both awesome as are the rocks
Such fun! All of the rocks were amazing. It was fun to see the rocks again from other videos too. I have to agree with another observer and declare the viewers winners!
It was fun going through them again with Nancy. Some boxes were rejected almost immediately, and others took awhile to paw through.
You two are awesome! I gotta go with Rob. I really love that pudding stone! Sorry Nancy your choices were great!
That puddingstone has swayed many voters. It is very nice.
Thanks, Derick!
😂😂😂 you guys are so cute
We love love love this video. We have learned so much from you. We have been tumbling in our RV as we travel across America. The contest went back and forth but it's a tie. You both are awesome. Thanks for everything.
Wow, an RV tumbler! That requires dedication.
@@nancyabram229 inspired by your husband. We have been learning. We bought the recommended items. We started with our Michigan rocks about 50 pounds. It gets a lot of attention it's plugged in outside of our RV. Thanks again for sharing this. We love it!
I loved the moss agate and the picture agate I think you called it.. my two favorites
Nancy had the best. It was neck and neck until the crazy lace. Nancy’s example is one of the most luxurious specimens I’ve seen, and that one broke the tie. Beautiful work guys, and beautiful couple.
Thanks, John. I do love that rock. The colors and patterns are amazing.
"Luxurious" is not an adjective that is used in comments on this channel very often.
You both have great taste ! I like both of them !
Omgoodness I can't pick I love them all ❤
They are tumbled rocks... and no matter how "ugly" a rock that has been tumbled may have started out every tumbled rock is beautiful. ALL of them are "the best collection". :P
That puddingstone is gorgeous I haven’t found too many keepers in my area as we aren’t totally known for those in California as much as Michigan
I don't think California puddingstones would be the same kind of puddingstone. As far as I know, those are just in Ontario, Michigan, and a couple other nearby states.
My husband and I say you both win ! So much fun thank you for sharing! ❤
Woo-hoo!
You should ask your viewers what their favorites are from all your videos. I’ve loved many, but that huge piece of unakite that you did by hand was one of my faves.
I tumbled that one. I did use a handheld electric grinder on some puddingstones though.
I'm going to say it's a tie. Both have very good sets and all are beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
Woo-hoo! We both win!
I love watching your videos!!! For me it was a tie.....LOL. I absolutely love all the rocks you both showed us. ❤
We both win!
Nancy's picture jasper reminds me of Sleeping Bear Dunes :)
Sure, but you're biased.
@@MichiganRocks 😂 Your banded chert and petoskey are nicer choices.
I think Nancy has you beat. I really like that piece of banded chert because it reminds me of one of the many, many, many pieces that I found on my trip. I also really love the picture jasper. It was really tough though. They may be cliché, but tiger’s eye is one of my favorites.
I knew you had good taste!
Oh no, not more about the banded chert beach incident!
You both win😉. With all those beauty's how can you pick a winner. Hold it, was this for who's making supper😳🤣🤣.
We didn't have any sort of bet on the results, although that could have been fun. I think it would be quicker to make dinner than to go through and tally all the results.
I vote Robs, but trade the tigers eye for Nancy’s picture jasper😉 Beautiful stones.
That would be a fair trade.
I found favorites in both of your choices and though I loved your pudding stone Rob, I found more rocks in Nancy's group of favorites than yours, that I preferred. Your lace agates were comparable in their beauty to each other, but as you said, you did tumble all of them, so there is that. And on Nancy's polish flint, I distinctly saw a beautiful bird with it's wings tucked, swirling around, so that makes the back of that rock not so dull after all. Eye of the beholder and all that. ( : Rob, your choices of rocks were awesome, though since I have to choose .... Nancy Wins with her very contrasting colors and pizzazzy designs. This was fun and hope we do this again sometime. ( :
Fancy Nancy and her pizzaz, strikes again!
Those were some detailed observations. Thanks for the support. They were all very nice.
@@nancyabram229 ( :
Nancy for the turatella and the picture jasper for sure I have one like that from Wyoming
