  • See a detailed comparison of Sig Sauer's new P229 Legion with the P229 Scorpion and M11-A1. Note that I neglected to mention that the Legion has a solid steel guide rod.
The three pistols shown in the video are:
    E29R-9-LEGION
    M11-A1
    E29R-40-SCPN (I didn't have a 9mm Scorpion available)
See detailed information on Sig's Legion line (including ordering info) on our blog at www.osagecountyguns.com/blog/n...

M11-A1 was and still is the best of these by far. A compact pistol does not need a stupid and ugly rail and hooked guard with bottom surface to abrade your fingers on the bottom. The M11 also has corrosion resistance in internal parts. I did put a standard trigger on the one I had but had left the rest stock because it was so good. As for the "legion" guns, Sig is now sending a much cheaper gun case if you register. I sold that Sig too... only one I regret selling is the M11, when I can afford it again, I'll probably purchase another in the future.

seem the M11-A1 compact would be a better carry gun. the eternals may hold up in different environments better.

Just Subscribed to your Chanell, great information about the New Legion Series as well. I have an M11A1 and love it along with a P229R 9mm with the TacPac-L, also have a Beretta M9 but back in 1990 I became a Police Officer and we were issued the Sig P226 and have had a Sig throughout the years and absolutely love them. I had an original Sig P228 in the late 90's but had to sell in 2001 but about a year ago I purchased my M11A1 and the P229 and the M9 and saw your videos tonight about the Legion Series and what all the Legion Series entails for someone purchasing this great new Line and already I'm thinking GREAT another Sig P229 I feel I MUST add to my collection so THANKS guys. LOL Seriously tho the videos were very informative and I like you have many different things ABOUT the Sig Brand as a whole. Keep up the good work and wouldn't mind trying to win a Sig hat sometime if I can as well, I think you can win one anyways I believe right? Well I hope I can, thanks again and look forward to more informative videos.

I hadn't even heard of the Legion series. I have nearly every standard and elite Sig P 22x series made. I'm missing scorpion models. The Legion looks very well thought out and desirable. The only shortfall to me, is the beaver tails and semi beaver tails are too thick, and don't add much value. They don't allow one to get the web of the hand higher up such as on a good 1911 or CZ75 Custom. That addition to the Legion would have sold many folks on the gun (IMO) and a MUST have for me. But obviously they are still my favorite since I keep selling my other guns to buy Sigs. Fantastic model comparison video...the best I've seen.

Thanks for the great video. I really want the x-ray sights and think I want the gray guns trigger, but I plan to carry this and have no need for the rail. I am also concerned about the crappy Legion PVD finish. Scorpion is out for me due to the full beavertail and overall size (it's actually slightly longer and heavier than my MK25). Decisions, decisions.

Hey everyone! Thanks for checking out our video. Below are the SWAG winners from this video.
Just so everyone knows how we pick the winners the process is outlined below.
Make a list of all commenters sorted alphabetically and allowing one entry per name (duplicates removed). Then we assign a number to each name (in Excel) and use a random number generator (random.org) to pick a random number from the total eligible list. We remove each winner after assigning them the corresponding price in the order shown in the video and the random number is reduced by one total possible number to account for the remaining eligible entries. That process is repeated until all prices have been awarded.
The winners of this contest are:
    jaboody singh - Christensen hat
    Rudyelf1 - Sig Hat
Ryan Stover - Sig Trucker Hat
Floyd Markley - MPX Mag Pouch
michael huertas (hellbound411) - Crimson Trace Shirt
    Nick Ventetuolo - Sig keychain
If you are a winner please email john@osagecountyguns.com with your mailing address. We will send you a confirmation code to verify your identity and have you reply to this comment with that code - that ensures someone else isn't emailing us claiming to be you.... If we have verified you from a previous contest it isn't required again.

People keep mentioning the high price point. Well gents, as the OCG guy mentioned, the features bring it up to a good deal. Allow me to elaborate. I was tempted to get a scorpion and mod the frame, similar to what Sig made to the Legion. The metal work and refinish would have left me without $ for a Bruce Gray trigger job, and some aftermarket sights. As for the "join the cool kids club" marketing/hype, meh. These are tools, not some trendy/"swag" sneakers to impress on the first day of school. OCG, keep that discount going, because MSRP is for suckers. (dibs on the sig trucker hat.)

Its the best trigger I've ever shot on any sig. Thank you for an informative video. I'm a long time Sig owner I've had a chance to shoot all three of these beautiful weapons and a couple of points are worth making that were not discussed here. Grip size and feel are all very different. I prefer the E2 grips that come standard on the 229 Enhanced Elite. They are a thinner profile and have a great tactile feel. The M11 and Scorpion can be swapped out for E2...does anyone know if the Legion can? My opinion of the new XRay-3 sights is they are great but really only brought Sig up to what has been available in the aftermarket for a long long time and in all honesty, I don't think they are as good as some of the site specific manufacturers. Lastly a suggestion for future videos, please use a neutral/white mat on the table when showing the features of a black gun. Thanks again!

I'd put the M11-A1 above the Legion 229 for two simple facts:
The phosphate treated components in the M11 improve the wear and tear lifetime, and will keep your handgun more reliable in the long term.
And second, the 229 Legion has a single-point adjustable trigger which *is* very good out of the box--you can tune them to be finger-pressure-reset. But you can buy an M11 for $300 cheaper, get a two-point Grayguns adjustable trigger (both pre-travel and over-travel) for around $70, get an E2 one-piece grip that has better hand-fit and grip than the Legion grip plates. You'll still have around $175 leftover, and end up with a better performing handgun.

Just a comment about the coatings you mentioned. PVD is a process in which DLC is applied. People seem to get this confused a lot but essentially anything PVD coated is going to have good hardness and hold up well. DLC's have an excellent surface finish and lubricity to them in addition, I'm not certain if everything PVD coated will though. I wouldn't be surprised if some PVD coatings lack those friction reducing properties. It seems the firearms industry doesn't distinguish these differences well, could be marketing or even their engineering not knowing any better.

+hockeynpolo1 We have Sig's breakdown on the cost of each enhancement on our blog post linked from the description on this video. Those prices are likely MSRP for each enhancement.
