When I saw that video of the Gombe chimpanzees moving in silent single file on their way to attack an enemy tribe (they killed at least one that day), THAT is when I KNEW we were closely related.

I kind of wish we had simple language that distinguished phylogeny from functional groupings. Like how in English we have different words for certain animals when alive vs when food. Because apes are also monkeys, but are also boney fish. And I think part of my brain decides to stop caring that humans are technically monkeys when I know we're "technically boney fish."

Has anyone tried to create a chimpanzee and human hybrid? If lions and tigers can breed and they are less genetically similar, shouldn’t a human/chimpanzee pairing also work?

To clarify, I’m not suggesting direct breeding, but IVF type experiments. Maybe even using artificial wombs.
