My ocd would try to get that patch wire on the route the previous trace went.
I always forget just how tiny everything is until you shove a q-tip into view
Hey Louis. Glad you're setting the standard.
Nah, he is just branching out into internal medicine. Repairman, Journalist, Citizen Dentist, he does it all.
it's a shame that not everyone else is doing the same in murica.....800k confirmed cases and counting.....shit is gonna hit the fan in vast amounts.

I just finished watching the livestream. Spoiler alert: It's a very easy fix, but still worth watching for the commentary...
That's 99% the reason I watch but that one time I had to open up my laptop I used some common sense stuff Louis taught me .

I keep telling you that bafang mid drive "chain skip" is actually the plastic crank sprocket chain guard catching chain on the bottom side. Break the thing off and cycle happily.
the what?
@@rossmanngroup Do you have one of these on your Bafang? www.amazon.com/BAFANG-Chainring-Plastic-Guard-Chainwheel/dp/B083J1T88Z If you do then @Malcon Tent suggests you tinker with that part of your _travelling machine_ and remove said part if it is indeed there.

Ooh the UV!
Seriously though, do not stay in the same room of that germicidal lamp for more than a few seconds. It also generates ozone, which will give you good headaches if you don't vent the rooms you use it in :)
Best commentary ever!
You deliver the UV warning perfectly deadpan! Well done.
Louis looks like he's actually been getting sleep lately.
Side note on the chain issue. If it's a chain you've had for a while, it may have become stretched out which can making indexing the gears rather difficult.
Appreciable use of PPE at the end (UV glasses)

The wire is ending above the groove that is why it has so much play . I would have dipped it into the groove, taking the same route of the previous one with a dropof the green stuff on each turn corner and 1 or 2 drops in the long way .
"IUVD" -> "Input Under Voltage Detect"? Looks like it's a voltage divider so that the chip can sense if it's getting the VCC voltage it needs to turn on.

Those masks are good for about 2 to 4 hours, after that one of those multiple use masks does the job better...
for what he's using it for? 8 hours or more....
The mask has the blue filter on the outside. This means that is "configured" to protect user from the outside germs, not to protect the outside from user germs. It might be a different tyoe of mask, but he should check from where he bought it.
@@notyourbusiness3026
Regardless of how it's "configured", it still serves that purpose...
Only good before they get wet/damp, not for 2-4 hours. Have fun wearing them and doing intensive manual labor. Try putting dry tissue and wet one. Configured? Blue go outside, nothing configurable about that. And good luck protecting form aerosol size droplets with, basically, sheet of paper. Mask do not protect from airborne germs. You need proper PPE for that. e.g respirators. Just read wiki about surgical mask or something. On some mask colored side go outside, because it let water from you breath go trough better and holds germs. Similar to agricultural sheet or roofing/constructions sheets - water wise not germs.
@@mindaugasstankus5943 The purpose of getting the general populace to wear masks is to keep them from infecting others, which even a handkerchief around the nose and mouth will do. The general populace doesn't know how to properly use respirators enough to keep themselves from getting infected.

In our country mouthcover is mandatory. how its not a thing in US?
chain skip check that the chain and chainrings and cassette are the same speed as in 9 or 10 or 8 speed . put the bike upside down and run the chain backwards and see if the rear derailer does not jump if it does there might be a stiff link then check that the chain runes of the chainrings at the front as if it is a nine speed chain on a 8 speed chainring it will stick on the chainring and can cause skipping hope this helps
You need to get gear plats, that why the change doesn’t get out. The main problem is the electric engine, so you need to put the defenders in the change. You can get plastic or metallic ones
Very good channel, I learnt a lot of interesting things about a lot of things here. Especially about the whole 'right to repair' debate in the US.
I have a question here, it's not really about repairing, but more of a question about a 2015 Macbook Pro :
Is it possible to upgrade the processor to a newer version without replacing the whole Motherboard or just buying a new one ?
Whilst not really about repairing, I might need more power from it in a close future, so is this an option ? Or is there any other option that wouldn't need me to spend 1200~1600$ ?
@@Okurka. Sure, give me a link to a good laptop I won't need to change for a long time and that isn't 1200+ $...
I'd rather try to get some more money before buying a computer in maybe 2 years, than spend lessmoney now but on something that won't be as good.
you need to make a video with shake shack they got a loan for 10mil
Oh gosh make sure you're cautious when using that UV "disinfecting" thing, UVC is really really bad. I think you know but I'll just say it in case.
Big Clive has a video on why a UV-C lamp must not be used in a room with animals, including humans (or plants, if you like them). It gives rapid sunburn to any exposed flesh, instead of tanning, and damages the surface of the eyes, leading to itching, possibly so severe that some people resorted to putting potato juice in their eyes, such was their desperation for relief. Also, the ozone produced will damage lungs.
@@andrewmorton9683 Yeah that's where I found about it first
@@andrewmorton9683 I think Louis knows that uvc is bad, big Clive was mainly talking about constant use, and it's clear that Louis is only using it intermittently and he does use eye protection while using it
I love that kind of ball mouse. For one thing most people have trouble using my computer when i have one of those. That's a good thing. But more importantly I have more speed and accuracy using it.. My last one I had wore out so I dont have one at the moment, but I plan on replacing it soon. :)
If it's your mid drive bike, might have to replace your derailleur, the tension spring on the hanger mounting point is probably shot, not being able to keep tension between the return line of the chain and the upper pulley wheel, if they're skipping in the 5,6,7,8+ gears
Back in high school I went through a robotics competition. In this, I built a few different boards but one of the main ones that I built was a managed relay board. I should have built in some protection but I didn't because I was a dumb ass. One of my friends plugged it in backwards. Almost every relay on that board was in some form of dispensary. A few welded together. Do you ever get boards that you just keep hunting down new issues to the point where you call it cooked?
how hard is it to stock isolated wires for this kind of case?
The trace was completed. We have their position. Sentinels are standing by.

"I hope you learned something!" - Yes, indeed! You shall not look at the screen while Louis plays with UV lights 😎 Always wear your screen protectors!
Traces get like that from carrying WAY too much current. That said, the scratched 'x' on the battery confirms someone's been in there.
If your bike chain is skipping, you might have a worn out gear cluster on the rear wheel. This happened to me once. Hard to spot, but easy enough to fix.
Digging the 846 earphones Louis. My daily drivers as well!
He Louis, love your videos and keep up the good work. One small tip, if you tight the bands of the mask together with a paperclip your ears won't fall of at the end of the day. Here still working from home in Spain. Good thing we have a NAS to get the upload an download the drawings we need to do our job. Stay save and take care, regards Rinus
Thanks for the vid and the tan!
So glad I never get apple crapple.
Old school use a antique sell attitude, replaced drive after a hard 4X trip useing GPS plug in card and took maps.
Was simple open case in screw, in plug, plug in New bigger drive, screw it down.
Had to replace screen back light. Easy.
Dang old thing just keeps working.
Althow I must say it's been replaced by phone, android of course.
Glad folk like you around for apple/ I crap devices.
Good job, best to you sir.
Careful with those UVC germicidal lamps, they are actually strong enough to cause damage to cells and creates ozone gas at the same time. if you want to use it safely, I'd recommend making a sealed box to place whatever you are trying to disinfect inside.
you seem very dutch in the way that you don't beat arround the bush. sometime's tourist here get offended when you tell them whats up without any bull in between. i appriciate that tho i'm not switching to apple for it. i like to be able to agree with the company i buy my stuff from ;)
hey Louis. thanx for uploads. Well, i think that this issue is due to poor bonding between copper trace and the PCB glasfiber. If you stab a trace, it should not peel off like that all the way. It is due to cheap bonding layer bertween the glasfiber and copper sheet in pcb production. Hhhmmm, i would not think that apple could sink so low. shame.
Mr Rossman, regarding your chain skipping: get a belt drive (e.g. Carbon Belt Drives) for f'sake and an internally geared hub (e.g. Rohloff) ;-)
FYI standard computer Monitors and mobile screens Don't Reproduce UV light so you will just get an approximation from within the RGB gamut which isn't harmful.
And all this time I thought that UV light harding was just a marketing ploy, it seems to actually work. NOW would like to see Mr. Carlson's Lab and Louis work together on a project, Mr. Carlson very calm, Louis RANTING. would be so entertaining to have all the info behind why things work.
Good work etiquette!
I enjoyed the shout out to Frank Zappa... "That's right folks, don't touch that dial..." from I'm the Slime, Over-nite Sensation!!
I was wanting to see if you would possibly fix something for me. It's not a computer, it's a car amplifier.
IUVD = Informitis USB (Universal Serial Bus) Virtual Driver
I looked at the UV light!!
"We don't pull out on this channel, we pull in." 🤣🤣🤣
That needs to be your new CZcams chan motto
Never a Mac fan, after this video more than ever. What gauge wire was that?
Great video, yes I did learn something.
I used to own a 2016 13” touchbar macbook pro. About a month ago I suddenly got the question mark folder so I sold it for a measly 400€ because I assumed that the SSD was dead and I’d need a new logicboard. I’m guessing I had the same issue that this machine in the video had, but I never opened mine or attempted to, so what other reason is there for this happening?
Did you get that pencil from pencilvania?
5:30
"First man has nerf gun, second man has nerf darts. First man die, second man pick up nerf gun".
the uv light takes about 30 min to work
I love this kind of intros, I always laugh so fucking hard 😂
3:56 Thanks Doc
I would have thought service tension would have held that wire
If I stare at the UV light for long enough will it give me superpowers? That's how it works, right?
Or is it just ionizing radiation that does that?
here's a new reason to work for louis rossmann. you get rectal feeding for lunch now!
You should try a 5G antenna instead of the uv light, it's much faster and safer!
BTW, the trace looked baked like it passed several amps but the connected components should had been dead...
louis, please if you are going to use mask 8h a day, change it after 4h... (optimal would be 2.5h but hey)
Same as me, I wouldn't ask any of my employees to do anything that I would not! and staff look up at us for setting and keeping up with standards and rules!
Intra-uterine venerial device -- IUVD
Physics still works. It's either surface tension or buancy between the wire and the green shit... I think
Was that trace damaged from heat, or insufficient protective enamel coverage? I am surprised you didnt route the new wire following the same path. Great fix! Back cover removal... wow.
Does any uv light work or is a certain spectrum needed? I have some uv glue and it requires specific spectrum. Great glue too. Better than superglue most of the time.
6:00 That trace was like that from over current , So something bad happened.... I have accidentally blown traces myself mainly around the USB area on a desktop motherboard. Which means they nicked it with the power on. tisk tisk tisk
That trace is bunt, must be other issues causing over current.
Thanks, I’m blind now, and my skin is on fire.
Ultraviolet is harmful ? I been using a UV flashlight to mess around the house
10 UV led diodes and 3 white diodes
I don't think that laser is gonna do anything. There are only few UV Laser Diodes, they are extremely expansive (thousands of dollars) and can only be found in special medical equipment.
There are cheap 400 / 380 nm laser diodes, like the one you have, but they are too near the visible spectrum to have any of the property you are looking for.
I would suggest a cheap neon lamp like those used for manicure.
I'm amazed at how easy you make it look, and at the same time the more I watch your videos i HATE Apple more, or lack there of.....great videos though.....
Where is the year & month of this post ? The description is blank on that.
.odd⁉️🤔
Well, would an HP 2010i with CCFL backlighting emit UV when requested? I think not, honestly.
Skipping Chain, if the back wheel is in place, the drive sprocket is worn.
I’ve got a question for you. Why are the Mid 2012 15” MacBook Pro (pre-retina) logic boards so expensive?
Take precautions bro. NY is a dangerous place to be rn
Just curious as to why he didn't use the original trace route.
Yo!!! My screen protector fell off during the UV light 😥, RIP! LOVE THE VIDEOS
Great video! thanks.
Actually computer monitors cannot reproduce UV light becaus ethey use Red, Green and Blue subpixels only, they have no UV subpixels so are unable to create UV light. UV is not produced by mixing red, green and blue light as it isn't paart of the visible spectrum so cannot be reproduced by computer/phone screens. So it is SAFE to watch at the screen where the video shows usage of the UV light
I love these videos. I started practicing soldering a bit more recently. I'd say I'm somewhere between Jayztwocents and Louis Rossmann level.
m570 trackball nice.
FYI: LCD & LED monitors do not emit UV radiation no matter what you are transmitting... now CRT monitors do, but if you are using one of those in 2020 you have bigger issues... :)
03:55 holy shit never drink while Louis Rossmanns videos are running xD
dont worry i watch your videos with a welding face shield on.
What does any of this mean!?! Love it!
