  • Buford and Gainesville are two of our most popular towns here in North Georgia, but for very different reasons. Buford has tons of big box shopping and some of the highest ranked schools in the state, while Gainesville has more access to Lake Lanier.

I live in North Buford. Absolutely beautiful especially near Lake Lanier. New construction can be expensive and houses are limited.

It would have been nice if you covered the Gainesville school districts (from your own perspective). Thanks.

Good point. They are not highly rated according to Greatschools.org and yet there are many things that go into those ratings. As a former teacher, I would suggest talking to neighbors and parents of kids that actually go to those schools--I wouldn't rely on the ratings alone! Mundy Mill is a popular neighborhood zoned for Gainesville City Schools and there are a ton of families that live in there if that tells you anything ;)
