The scam is the price tag.
Brought the older model on sale for 45% off. I’m happy with it
I paid $479 for the old one last week. I bought it because I live in Louisiana and it’s hurricane season.
Reminds me of the time (a few lifetimes ago) when a high school friend got fired from his job at a now-defunct famous major retailer for refusing to put a big "SALE!" sign on a lawnmower than had just had its price *increased* by about $20.
I suppose there's a use for those little boxes. What I don't like is how so many of the companies selling them imply you can run your house on them for days and days. There's only so many amp hours in the box and you only get to use them once before you have to recharge.
Bologne. You can use 10% at a time or 1% at a time. There's no such limitation to use only once before the next charge 😂😂😂
The new version is way heavier. By 1/3 rd. Because I'm not going to use all the Cycles I do you like the lighter version... that's just me.
The lithium ion Jackery Explorer 1000 is 22.04 lbs. The lifepo4 Jackery 1000 v2 is 23.8 lbs. They have comparable battery capacity, but the v2 has 50% more power output. The difference in weight is only 8%, it's very minimal.
@@guspaz the jacjery 1000 plus weighs 32lbs. About 10 pounds more.
@@diySolarPowerFunWithRay The 1000 Plus has nearly 1.3x the capacity and 2x the output, of course it weighs more, it's not a remotely similar product. The Jackery 1000 v2 has similar capacity to the Jackery 1000, only with lifepo4, and is nearly the same weight.
Thank you for this information! Much appreciated.
Awesome information, thanks!✌️
Great info thanks!
super helpful thank you
I purchased a renewed jackery 880 for $350. I felt like it was a decent deal…
thank you for sharing this!
Great video. Extremely informative.
Thanks for the info
on a full charge how long will these run a dometic 25 cooler on a 5 day camping trip
thx lab guy , good work man
Thank you!
Hi, I bought jacket 1000, it does not want to charge pass 40%. I tried to reset did not work. Please help.
Thanks for making this video 👍🏽👍🏽
I am considering purchasing a Jackery 2000 plus or the Ecoflow delta pro. I know these are not exactly in the same category, but is the Jackery 2000 much quieter thank the Delta Pro? i was originally considering the Delta pro, but I am concern about their noise level. can you shed some light on the subject since you have experience with both brand. thanks in advance.
Lithium Ion refers to all different kinds of lithium chemistries, including LifePo4 chemistry, and NMC. Both LifePo4 and NMC still use lithium ion transfer as a means for providing power. The older Jackery uses NMC chemistry cells, which certainly have their place. Higher energy density for their weight, something I have use for. For my use case, I'd actually opt for the NMC version, being that it is more compact, lighter, and I won't be cycling it much. NMC is the same chemistry used in things like your phone, tablets, and other portable devices as it offers a higher energy density than LifePo4.
^this!
Thanks for catching that. Im glad your calling out company that do shady stuff .
Nothing "shady" about it. The information is right there on Jackery's website. It's not hidden, buried, or difficult to find. Some folks, especially hikers, will choose the NMC version because they weigh less than the LiFePO4 version.
The inverter or some other electronic part is going to fail way before the battery capacity falls below 80% from cycling on either of those.
The older one are on Amazon for $579- NONREFUNDABLE 😏
They’re available on the Jackery website for $529 and fully warrantied. I’ve had great experiences with their customer service too.
They’re $499 on Amazon…and it states in the specs there is a 2 year manufacturer warranty. And everything purchased on Amazon has a 30 money back guarantee…
Every large battery you buy from amazon is going to be "nonRETURNABLE" - because of shipping a battery.
I've had my older (original version) explorer 1000 now for a few years, haven't noticed any battery issues, but, it's only been fully depleted a couple times. Would be nice if you could swap out the battery in it...
The explorer 1000 and two panels is $799 on Amazon right now
Great “exposé”. I am all in on LifeP04 batteries. 100% discharge rate and 8-10 year lifespan. I do believe the Jackie is overpriced at $999. I just built a 200ah 1000 W pure side wave power station for $891.
On sale now 40% off. Is it worth dropping $14k+ ($10k after rebates) for a 24kwh Jackery 2000 plus setup? Or should I build my own system?
The old jackery style is on Amazon store for $549 right now.
It’s down to $499 as 12 July…
I got mine for $479 on Prime Day at Amazon.
Started with a 400w for about $250 or so after taxes, just got a Bluetti AC180 on Amazon for $599
“Scam” is pretty harsh. There’s also a new 1000 v2 out now. All three are on sale right now…and Jackery products go on sale frequently anyway. I already bought (at the intro sale price) and use the new v2 and only bought the NMC 1000 about a year and half ago (on sale). I’m happy with the v2 so far, and you guys should review that one too.
I think any of the 3 are a great value at the current sale prices. I do not own the Plus version. Almost got it…and probably would’ve if not for the v2.
agreed, they're all very good value during Amazon prime day and/or Blk Fri and decent value during the remaining holiday sales throughout the year.
Yep, but putting scam in the title gets more views. I do not like this trend, and sadly, we are contributing to it by just commenting. I guess I will put these guys on my do not watch list. Downvotes even contribute to "engagement". The only thing to combat it is not to watch, but you need to watch to realize the title is baiting.
Thank you! I already own the older version, about 5 years now. So, if I pursue another Jackery purchase, I will know the difference.
Thanks for the info! I hadn't realized that Jackery is doing Li-ion-Phos batteries. I was shying away from their brand because I didn't want a Li-ion battery system.
They're ALL "Li-ion" batteries.
You mean "I don't want the higher energy *Nickel* based cells"
Did you check the battery type in the book? And compare the same info on the website. Troubling?...
I’ve built my own 3,300KWh LiFePo4 power station in a milk crate for 1000$ Canadian. It’s got a 1200w inverter, a solar charging controller and Bluetooth monitoring.
Thank you so much for that information, I am looking to buy one or something similar and didn't know that. Again, thank you from southern Spain.
Is it possible to use it in continous way? You plugged in the computer + the battery is chargind and then works as a UPS ?
That'll just be charging and discharging constantly and wear the battery out even faster. It's referred to as "pass through charging", though recently exactly the same thing is also being called a 0ms "online UPS"! Old UPS systems, probsbly with lead-acid batteries, worked this way when the only place they were seen was in big server farms etc. I guess maintenance crews there regularly installed new batteries, too.
The newer one probably has s fast "switching UPS" built in, which protects the battery by bypassing it if wall power is available.
Excellent catch!
I got the old one a couple months ago at over 50% off. It is a reconditioned one, but I use it for running a laser at craft shows. gets the job done.
Appreciate the video. I bought my 1000 jackery w/ 2 100w solar panels for $699.. the newest v2 with 1 200w solar panel is $1299..I'll stick with mine as it gets charged 2 times a year and only gets used in power Outages. Think I'll be fine for the next 10+ years...even if it hits 80%
Great video!
What about the 3000? What lithium battery does that one have? The phosfate one??? And how many life cycles does it have?
Keep em accountable! And you keep up the amazing vids! Also wondering what you guy's opinion is on Fossibot?
good info.
Answer me this if you plug-in a regular refrigerator into this unit how long will it last?
Depends on the size of the refrigerator, but 1-2 hours :D
6-7 if it's already cold and you don't open it
Good heads up. I don't mind if someone uses a cheaper battery as long as it includes a lower price. You can debate if it is worth the savings or not. I rarely use batteries, so I'm OK with not paying more for thousands of cycles. It's definitely a scam if you charge the same price for a cheaper battery just because you know that many people won't realize that it won't last as long.
The 1000 was 499 with amazon prime, now it's 479 on a prime day deal
I paid $499 during their 50%off🤦🏻♂️ fathers day.. i got ripped of $20🤬
Regardless of fine print or location of the details of a item in the specs, if Jackery lists the battery "type" of each unit, it's not shady. It's up to consumers to do their homework before purchasing. Being dishonest as a buisness however, would infact be shady. Bread listed as 100% whole wheat bread is very different from bread that's dyed brown and called "wheat bread."
Nobody is buying the 1000 for $999.
Retail is $599 and they go on sale for $549 or $499 regularly.
The 1000 plus retailed originally for $1699 and sales for $799-999 regularly.
There is also 1000 pro which is priced between the two models.
Glad you are calling Jackery out on this. Just purchased a highly rated and evaluated Pecron LiFePO4 unit for $0.43 a watt hour and has a 5 year warranty. Just used it on my week long camping trip bouncing in the back of my off-road camper. Worked great.
How often did you have to charge the unit on your trip
@@feline-n6b just charged before I left and that was it. It was the 1500 wh. Normally charge as I drive from wires off the Jeep battery.
@@AlternativePower903 oh I didn’t consider the weight. Now that combined with the fact that this unit will have probably 1/3 the life of the LiFePO4 unit makes it worth it. NOT!
@@davidk6668 it's still not a scam. The information is there.
if you spent 1000$, then YOU are the one that got ripped off. Amazon has had them on sale from 650 to 450 most of the last 9 months. I mostly bought it for power outages in the winter or bad storms. I really don't think the average user is going to recharge it enough times to matter one vs the other. Plus the smaller one is 22 pounds, the larger one is ever heavier. My bad back will take the lighter one tyvm.
Not the biggest fan of Jackery (imo they are overpriced), but this isn't a scam. LiPo lasts longer but weighs much more. It's a tradeoff.
It also costs more in Jackery models. OPs info in not correct.
Also most of these all in one power stations wont be working in 5 years if you use it often. Over-complicated tech with lots electronics that can fail with this type of application. So the battery cycle life might not be the main concern. I think from a safety standpoint all current lithium battery technology is a fire hazard although LiFePO4 is slightly safer. I would not want old any lithium batteries in my place.
@@practicalguy973 - New Jackerys have a 5 year warranty.
I’m glad I saw this before I purchased
One thing you might have mentioned is that the lithium ion pack is significantly lighter as li-ion is much more energy dense than lifepo.
Yeah, I cant believe they still sell the old ones, for the same price no less. People will be buying these online for awhile and realize its worn out in a couple years. New unit might have the electronics wear out before the batteries do.
I bought mine recently for $300.00 on Amazon but this is good to know
Soo.. how exactly is this a scam?
LFP are heavier
no doubt
The lithium iron phosphate batteries are cheaper for them to buy. They make more money off you when you buy the lithium iron phosphate. Unless they spent more money on the other parts and then it's a wash. The older lithium ion is lighter for the same capacity. 500 cycles would be 5 years of using it 50 weekends a year draining it each day you use it.
Good look!
I wish I had seen this before I bought mine. Let the buyer beware, I guess.
That's very good info. I assume all of these manufacturers will be using the new battery tech going forward. We should see some real fire sales for the old units soon.
LiFePO4 tech is actually a decade older ;)
I got the 1000 in 2020 and the first one had a usb issue but covid restrictions had them just send me another one and to send back the defective one when possible so that when I sent it back a year later I was refunded $1000 (meaning I got the replacement free )so I then got a solar panel (TRASH) $300and a 240 $200 for $500 so that was a really good deal (the1000,240,solar panel)except the usb plug went on this one also so 4 years later it still works but not all the plugs. I do not love it inspite of getting it so cheap and I am not sure if its just me or not...lol I have since installed a house battery and sold the crappy solar panel at a open road yard sale for $25.
Explorer 1000 priced at $579 on Amazon today 6/23/24. I guess they saw your video ! 😂
I would never buy anything other than a LiFePO4
No wonder. I bought them i awhile back. And still haven’t used it smh
Ahhhwrong!! Old version is only 550 on Amazon with 450 coupon!! But you have good points jacket must have listened!!!
What about the 4Patriot power stations?
Junk, your welcome.
Crap. They buy the cheapest, obsolete junk off Aliexpress and put a sticker on it, thus "making" it "in the USA".
whew - i was worried. but considering ive not had a reason yet to use my older model explorer 1000, im not too concerned. plus, i didnt pay $999. i paid $879 including 2 100w panels. and they are currently on sale for $599.
I'm good with the smaller one. I don't use it a lot and it's smaller, takes up less space. Most of the things I have are smaller, and that's the way I like them. Ford Ranger, Suzuki Burgman scooter.
The older version is only 1" smaller in length, 1" smaller in width, and almost exactly the same height. The big difference is in weight and price, but you are definitely sacrificing a shorter life from the battery.
@@paullinkins8121 Still smaller, and I don't hardly ever use it.
@@paullinkins8121 But who uses a 1000 watt power station daily? Most people will only use these once in awhile for camping trips or short power outages.
I got screwed. I bought the old one. I bought a 300 watt Bluetti for day to day camping stuff and rarely use the Jackery, unless I need 1000 watts. That way it will last longer.
I got one to use on a fuel pump on fuel tank in rural area, would not even run it, waste of money
Would it still be a scam if they jacked up the price of the new unit?
The charge cycles and safety of of LFP vs LITHIUM ION makes the LFP far superior
Thank you I almost buy an old one
Thanks so much amazon has a deal on the old one today now I will not buy it
If you're going to drop $1,000 on a portable generator and you don't read and compare specs, that's not a scam, that's just being careless. Caveat Emptor.
It is NOT a generator. It is just a battery bank.
Thanks for the consumer info. OUPES has my attention for the best value.
stay tuned 👀
The 1000 and 1000 Plus are no longer the same price. The Plus is $200 more, although both are on sale right now. And there's also a 1000 v2 which is cheaper than the 1000 and has less surge power output than the 1000 even though it has the same capacity. I bought an Ecoflow, though. The Jackery only comes with an AC power cable. The Ecoflow comes with multiple cables including AC, car charging and solar to connect to my existing portable solar panel. And it was on sale as well because of Amazon Prime day. But I didn't have to be a Prime member to buy it directly from the manufacturer at the sale price.
The scam for me was buying one in the first place. I have never fully discharged my 500 jackery. Its too weak to cook from it, wont power an air conditioner. Charges phones ok and runs my string lights.
The Ecoflow Delta 2 is currently $499.
Jackery is way behind the industry
Good marketing though, big displays in all the department stores in Japan, even in places other sogens are never seen (like clothing-heavy "home" stores, with a small earthquake section). Also JVC sell rebranded Jackery units.
Jackery does take advantage of the people that don't know the difference in the batteries. And they are tricky about letting you know. Because they are trying to get rid of their old models. That's one thing that I don't like about them. I bought one of their models and after a lot of research I caught onto what they were doing before I bought the 3000 pro. But I realize that the 3000+ will be coming out and it will have Lithium, iron and phosphate batteries
I knew what I was getting into, but some people will buy the 3000+ not knowing
Here's something nobody ever asks...and should. How do you return their product if it fails? Go read the laws from the DOT.
Thank you for calling this out. When I first I looked i to bluetti vs jackery a year ago it was clear this was a clear decision. I even asked them if they were switching battery chem and at the time they said no lol
This guy rules!
You failed to mention the stanby ability of both battery chemistry types. In a use case that is sporadic, LiFePO4 chemistry is more stable and has lower self discharge. Leaving the older LiON chemistry sitting charged degrades the batter just the same way cycling it, especially if you want it ready when you need it so leaving it near full charge, it wears the battery greatly. Also draining LiON to 0% or near also is very stressful and will accelerate the wear. So yeah, they may claim 500 cycles, but that is if used ideally which these products often are not and in my experience, lose capacity much faster. Samenis true if used in a UPS capacity where its constantly near full charge but also discharging. There is a reason real UPS dont use LiON.
LiFePO4 has none of those issues or at least to a lesser extent. Charge it to full and leave it, and its fine. Drain to 0% and its much more fine than LiON. Its an upgrade in Just about every except for weight, so this video is disingenuous ag best.
Jackery too little, way too late and their prices are for suckers.
"Scam" and "getting F*ed" is a bit much. 500 cycles is 500 camping trips? 250 week long camping trips? even if you camp every single weekend and drain the battery twice each time, thats 100 cycles a year. Are you keeping this battery 5 years ? The technology would be obsolete long before then and youll be able to get a better battery by then, hell you might not even be regularly camping if at all by then.
The LiFePO4 should be cheaper than the Li Ion because it contains no nickel, cobalt, or manganese. It's cheaper to manufacture and that is why many EV companies are switching over to LiFePO4. The other benefit is far less likely to catch on fire.
AT LAST someone who understands the formulae!!!
(NOT confusing "Ion" with "Iron"!)
WOOHOO!
.
I'm pretty sure the "fire issue" has been laid to rest now, mainly a function of either mechanical manufacturing tolerance (LG.... The GM issue)
And/ or
Chemical impurities from the "wet process" (detained by Jeff Dahn) now eliminated.
.
Plus, they're a high energy density, the equivalent of racing fuel.
Honestly you are paying a ridiculous amount for packaging
As you can put all the components in a milk crate and get far more capacity for a whole lot less money
Hey are y’all planning on reviewing/comparing the Jackery 1000 v2 soon??
Just their name alone is sus.
A Scam is only a scam if a company doesn’t disclose. I’d say this video is bordering on libel.
The ad is very misleading. Not libel if it’s true
@@richardjackson9790 What's misleading about it? The information about cycle life is there. It's not hidden or difficult to find.
Don’t agree with the scam comment …
Friends don't let friends buy NMC power stations!
@@AlternativePower903 - A table or cell phone is not a power station. Look at how few power stations still use NMC. There's a reason for that.
