The Donner cut is absolutely amazing but I honestly like the theatrical cut of Superman to about equally give or take a little bit on certain things, but I have begun to think now that superman part one is my favorite overall superman movie, even though superman two was always my favorite growing up as a kid
I regret not boying this set because it looks so nice & i had no udea it was going to be limited. Great review & being honest is what i appreciate the most 👏

Great review as usual Adam. I'd love to buy this set but can't justify the cost. It's disappointing that Superman 1 wasn't remastered . An iconic film like should have had all the bells and whistles thrown at it particularly in celebration of Warner Bros 100th birthday. Also the previous blu ray box set had many special features missing from this set and of course the Superman Returns movie with Brandon Routh is missing also. I can't buy a set like this just because it looks good. It's an important series of movies in the Warner back catalogue and we as fans I feel deserved a lot more
I picked up the steelbook set from the UK, since it was sold out in the US. Overall, an amazing package and glad to see that the original poster art was used for the 4 films. Although the Atmos tracks may be underwhelming, I'm glad at the very least that Warner has included these tracks for these films and not the lazy route and only provided 5.1. Disappointed with the theatrical audio at lossless 2.0 stereo, but at least it's included. Transfers are decent overall, but it's definitely not mind-blowing. The packaging and the 4K release of the films is the main reason to purchase and the Steelbook, makes a nice collection for the fans!
For those interested I bought the Fleischer's Superman shorts on Blu ray from Warner Brothers. The release contains all 17 shorts and 3 extras, 2 archive Docs and one new Doc about the shorts and their place in DC animation History, all these things are on 1 disc. As for the video and audio, the video isn't terrible, they used DNR that makes the picture soft and makes the animation less 3d like and more flat, they got rid of a lot of grain and other issues, probably a bit too much and audio is fine. The remaster could have been better though, but at least the Blu ray set is relatively cheap like $25, give or take. PS. Great video as always. PS. Great video as always. I bet they will re release this 4k blu ray set before Superman Legacy the movie comes out in 2025?

Don’t know if I’m gonna buy this set since it’s too expensive and I’m a casual fan of Superman I just only see Superman Returns 2006 and Man of Steel and I enjoy those movies too and I think Brandon Routh is my childhood Superman than any actor who plays Superman but that just me though in my opinions bro

I also heard for the 1st movie, there is also a Special Edition touched up by Richard Dooner with extra footage (not sure if htat's the same as the extended cut version or if it might be included here).
I like Superman and all, but this steelbook set is nowhere near worth the astronomical $500+ the scavengers are selling it for now. Looks like if I do break down to buy it I’ll have to get the standard case edition.
I would like to see Cavill play Superman once more, but even more than that, I would much rather see Brandon Routh return to the role and get his sequel to Superman returns, which he absolutely deserved, and he came before Henry Cavill

There are some issues with Superman IV’s Atmos mix that was pointed out by Oliver Harper a couple weeks back when he owned the box set and talked about in his 4K review, there were some parts when the opening score kicks in, it’s very different from the original stereo mix. It sounding like a school band performing the theme similar in tone. And when Superman fights with Nuclear Man, music arrived early. Those are issues that aren’t present on the original stereo mix. Replacing the opening score with something different and not Alexander Courage’s version is certainly a disappointment to any Superman fans out there or very unacceptable to Alexander Courage’s work on the score. Oliver Harper made an assumption as to why this happened. He stated that what could have happened is that when Alexander Courage was working on composing the film score, there were takes where the people performing the opening score wouldn’t keep up with the speed of John Williams’ score and that later on, that was fixed and put in the original stereo mix. WB might’ve accidentally used one of the earlier weaker audio takes of the score. Some people who have reviewed and owned this box set from what I can see on CZcams haven’t noticed these issues. Still to this day, WB hasn’t offered any replacement discs covering those issues.

I believe I only mentioned DV in the first movie, the rest have HDR.

I rather like the steelbook box sets as long as you get one that isn't dented to Kingdom Come.
I won’t buy anything until WB invests on recompositing and fixing all of the effects shots using the raw footage-that was archived by Michael Thau.

Brandon Routh came close to capturing Reeves' performance. It's a shame that the movie was a dud overall.
There were so many great concepts to build on. The time spent on homage was just too long. Routh deserved a 2nd go.
