People are counting out Dennis way too much imo. Yes he missed last time, but this year is weak and Dune 2 is considerably more acclaimed than the first and a much bigger hit. And him missing last time is a good narrative for him.

That being said, I can see a sequel war for nominations going on because there aren't, at this point, a great many great New films coming out. How about for Best Film? Dune: nominated, yes, winning, no. Part 3 if anything. Joker: they might have given it to him first film. How about this one? Gladiator: yes he won best picture but his last hooray. Let's give it to him. I'd HATE to see it, but maybe.
Denis Villeneuve is getting into Best Directing at the Oscars. I can see Dune part two getting at least 10 nominations this year. Dune part two, Joker 2, and Super/Man could propel Warner to the nomination leaders.
Knowing AMPAS previous rulings Emilia Perez will be in Adapted Screenplay as it's based on opera libretto by Audiard (that was adapted from another novel).
Ridley winning director? Or even being nominated over Denis? Gladiator 2 would have to impress on the same level or even more than Dune: Part 2. I don’t see it. If there is a split between BP and BD, Denis would be a good pick for winning as the big technical achievement.
A movie I think could be a dark horse this Oscar season is "The Brutalist" because it's a historical drama about a holocaust survivor played by Adrien Brody from Focus Features.
Only Murders trio would be so good because they will actually be funny and they r good people so they wont be controversial which will be a refresher tbh LOL

Supposedly Sony pictures classics is campaigning for Saoirse Ronan for the outrun But so they are for The Room Next Door with Julianne Moore Only one will be the priority and make it, so who?
I say they're definitely gonna make Saoirse Ronan the main priority because she's been nominated before and Sony Pictures Classics knows how appeal to Oscar voters to get their actors to a win for emotionally heartfelt movies.
It has to be an incredible musical these days to get more nods minus Chicago (only redeeming quality was Jones) That being said Cynthia stands to be an awards magnet as past states and IMHO she deserves so I'll wait to see Her performance. The rest, mehhh.
