This thing is selling like crazy out the gate. You hear a lot of chatter about this not being a "real" Bronco but I think it's more capable than a lot of people realize and certainly more capable than the competition.
Great video! I'm waiting a few months to pull the trigger on one to see which issues arise from a first year model (if any), but really looking forward to seeing what you guys at Steeda come out with for the aftermarket on this - hoping this gets a decent amount of love from the aftermarket and it's not just the "big" Bronco show...
It REALLY tempts me to pick one up because my dealership has plenty....but I’ll hold out for my bigger Bronco order for the same price as that Badlands sport.
Have seen many "Area 51" Broncs on youtube and all look great. Went shopping and every one we looked at looked nowhere as greenish as in the videos, not in direct sunlight or in well-lit showrooms. All looked just like the other grey colors. Decided on Iconic silver with the black top, Badlands with the Badlands package, larger tires etc. Ordered it 2/22/21, can't wait for it to arrive but I'm thinkin' at least 6 weeks.
In theory. No. But i think probably the manufacturer rates their roof with an error margin.. when i look the sticker on my pontiac vibe the cargo max is 850 lbs but i know one time at least i drove with 5 passengers and the weight was at least 1044lbs, (so over 194lbs) and i didn’t break anything. So i bet the roof is capable of 150lbs even with the moonroof. Also the doc specified to not put cargo on the roof directly but use the crossbar to store cargo. But with my pontiac vibe i have put at least 100lbs directly on the roof with a cargo bag without issues. I don’t see why a bronco sport stronger than a small pontiac vibe would not be able to do it. I think these values are bullshit. They put that for insurance and protect them in case of failure. But i don’t see why a strong roof metal cannot handle 100lbs of stuff. So i bet with 130lbs (the tent and bars weight) it should be ok. Without moonroof the bronco sport roof capacity is 150lbs in motion and 650lbs static, and yes apparently the moonroof weight 50lbs reducing to 100lbs their ‘max roof weight capacity’. But it is like food, expiration date and far below the reality, and food is ok above the limit.
Those nice alloy wheels/tires that you see on this Bad Lands here are NOT standard, they'll cost you a bit to add them. They do look great though, wish they'd offer them for the Big Bend trim.
Hi, I know you posted a while ago, but I had a few concerns you'll hopefully be able to clarify. I read that the bronco sport's roof had a static weight capacity of about 550-600 lbs. and a dynamic weight capacity of 100 lbs. However, it looks like the gear on top of this badlands is over 100 lbs. Did you notice any compromises in safety and/or handling because of this?
The Sport handled great with all the gear installed. There was a bit of body sway, but nothing out of the ordinary for an SUV of its size. Hope this helps! -Chris
i am looking forward to different builds. also the bronco sport does NOT have a actual locker. you might want to clear that up with he viewers. was a good review though
Lol are you thinking this is the big bronco because its not it is the bronco sport the other one coming out this summer is the bronco totally different vehicles
@@JamesThomas-dn6ee I meant in general is the Bronco (all models) the answer to the Rubicon. Would love to see Steeda do a head to head in URE, Uwharrie National Forrest in NC.
@@jeffdouglass5107 no. Obviously not every single model of a Bronco is a competitor for the Rubicon Trim of a Wrangler. That literally wouldn’t make any sense whatsoever. The Bronco Sport as a whole is build as a competitor against the Jeep Cherokee and Compass. The Badlands version of the Bronco Sport is the direct competition for the Trailhawk variants of the Cherokee and Compass. The full sized two and four door Bronco are built to compete with the Wrangler. Just like the Wrangler they have numerous trim levels. The full sized Bronco Badlands is the competitor for the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon.
Just my opinion, "Bronco" badge should've been reserved for the full size 2 door. Guess they weren't paying attention when Chevy released the new "Blazer"
This is a casual off roader like the Cherokee and the renegade it has decent off road capability for average users and light over landing... there is definitely a market for this and it clearly harkens to the bronco legacy in many but not all ways. The is a full fledged Bronco coming out this summer that is targeted for the hardcore off-road enthusiast that will more than keep up with wranglers and uphold the bronco name.... all that being said this is a Bronco Sport not a Bronco. Ford clearly paid attention... Chevy did nothing at all to live up to any level of off road capability so your comparison is not even remotely valid.

It definitely hasn't gotten the credit it deserves!
We've had our First Edition Area 51 for a month now. Wife is loving it!
How's the rear led room is it comfortable? And also how's the cargo
I bought a badlands
Love it as well
Cool bronco! Looking forward to more bronco vids.

Bronco sport 2021 just got the best IIHS rating with the + award.
That front camera is also great for entering the garage. I have one on my 2017 F-150 Platinum.
Totally true! Didn't think of that! -Chris
My toyota highlander bronze edition gets 35 mpg . It doesn’t do hard core off road but it smooth on city road

Ordered mine can’t wait heard nothing but good things
Great review my husband has a reserve on a 2021 Ford Bronco Black Diamond hopefully he’ll have it this summer same color Area 51 !!!!
Can the moonroof option take that tent? I thought the dynamic load was 100 lbs.

I love Bronco!
Can't Wait Any Longer in South Korea!
Looks like a home run
if the top came off this would be my next buy
We changed the wheels and tires on that bronco sport immediately after this video was made
What sizes did you go with

Try finding a Badlands model on dealer lots. There are none and of 1/27. And that's in metro Detroit.
Even tho it’s not the heavy duty bronco this thing seems very nice and that’s coming from a Toyota guy
Regarding your comment on brake dive, what could you do to alleviate some of that without jeopardizing the warranty?
Seems cool. I want to know if it can be flat towed behind a Motorhome?
Great video! Trying to gauge interior headroom etc. Looks like you have more than enough room. Do you mind letting us know how tall you are? Thanks!
Thanks! And, of course! I'm 6' 2" -Chris

Another video stated the 2.0L was 250 hp and 175 lbs tq. Who is right?
Hey Daniel - According to the Ford site, the 2.0L EcoBoost in the Bronco Sport makes 250 HP / 277 TQ. Hope this helps! -Chris

Congrats! Thanks for watching!
Wait, does it have pep????
Why yes... yes it does. 👀
I want one. But those wheels? IDK
They have multiple wheel options! The wheels on this Badlands aren't for everyone.
These are the "optional" wheels. The standard wheels are much nicer. I ordered the larger tires with the standard wheels.
This is a very “Utilitarian” video for sure

To be fair Ford did this in the past. They Sold the Bronco II and a Full size Bronco at the same time.
