- Angry review of a PRS that came to me with a chipped headstock and some marks. This was my first attempt at a review of the guitar. I was in a bad mood to say the least having received a guitar in bad condition. The condition was not disclosed in the advert. It turns out the guitar had hit the end of the gig bag in transit... a bit sad but the retailer was super nice about it. They gave me a discount and in the end I fixed up the guitar and did a proper review too: • PRS SE Paul's Guitar -...

I'm glad to say it all worked out and I fixed the guitar up and posted a calm review here: czcams.com/video/m43BVeB7YHM/video.html
Really interesting review ! Thanks !
Thanks for watching! I did this review after receiving the guitar damaged... I nearly didn't publish this one lol. I fixed it up though and I did a much calmer and detailed review here if you're interested: czcams.com/video/Pfk5MY_GnBs/video.htmlsi=CxI2v5arV3M8y-zF
Are you sure you didn't ask for chips with it?
I prefer my chips with a nice helping of fish and mushy peas.
I'm looking for a Les Paul style guitar that isn't a boat anchor so these are interesting. Neck sounds just my cup of tea and the split coil is quite impressive....don't like the bridge/tailpiece though as I like a trem and you can't retro fit one to that. Looks like I'll have to look at the DGT se model ...
Ah, true. Maybe take a look at the 594 McCarty SE which is also excellent. That has an even fatter neck and stop tail bridge, so you might be able to get Dusenberg or similar. The DGT is nice, but does have a bit of a slimmer neck.
The SE 594 is a great alternative, fit and finish is better than 95% of gibsons
@@appetiteforguitar I did ask around to see if anybody knows if the 594 will take a Les Trem but couldn't get an answer. Somebody said no because Paul Reed Smith has designed his own tail piece that is a different dimension to the standard ( typical!). I have a really nice Burny les paul custom copy, 3 pickup with bigsby..it's not that heavy for a" Les Paul" at 9ibs 8oz but its still too much for me . After about 20 minutes standing with that I get lower back ache!
Oh yikes, that's pretty heavy. This PRS is just about 7lbs. Anything over 8.5lbs is getting a bit on the heavy side for me to stand for hours with. Another good one is the new Les Paul Studio. I just got one in smokehouse burst and I'm about to review it in depth. It supposedly has a slim taper neck from the specs, but it's surprisingly nice and chunky. It is also light weight for a les paul. Mine is about 7.5lbs from memory... they do vary a lot though in weight. That should take a tremolo. The Studio and this PRS are my current favorites. I love fat necks and light guitars so these two are heaven for me. The Studio could work for you maybe...
@@appetiteforguitar Thats why you bring several guitars to shows.. Some lighter some heavier
I returned mine I got at sweet water
The guitar would not even work lol
Staying away from PRS for now
Got me a charvel!
Shame, they are great guitars. Worth exploring again when you feel like it. Keep rockin'
I can't see your "calm" review because the link just reopens this one. Also, I think the video title isn't fair to PRS, as it wasn't _their_ fault that someone scuffed the top, or that a carrier mishandled the instrument. I appreciate you might get more views with a click-bait title, but I'd have gone with "You'll never believe how this PRS SE Paul's Guitar arrived!" or something like that.
Apologies re the link, totally right, amended in the description and here is the link for you: czcams.com/video/Pfk5MY_GnBs/video.html
I appreciate it's a bit rough and ready, but it was my immediate raw unfiltered view at the time. I think you can tell in the video that despite any issues with damage, I love the guitar. It was most likely the carrier's fault in the end - they were seemed to have been pretty rough with it, or you could blame the retailer for not packing the end better... the bits of the lacquer were in the gig bag. Either way, the retailer was awesome about it, gave a bit of discount and I kept and fixed the guitar. Having fixed it up and the problems resolved, I recorded the calm review video. Keep rockin'.
@@appetiteforguitar Thanks! I don't own any PRS guitars, but they really do offer something different from the other brands, both in their core and their SE ranges.
@@appetiteforguitarI bought one of these new. Blue with the maple neck. I wondered why it came with a massive foam thing on top of the headstock. Now I know. You can see the 3 pieces in the neck but it doesn’t look bad. I like the natural wood effect. It’s a great guitar. Hope you enjoy it.
