Jackson Devine I do not agree about that. Especially Because Holland had not won for over 40 years, and they have thought about leaving because of that. I think that Eurovision has taken a road to more serious songs. We can like that or not. But with the winners of Holland and Portugal few years ago, I think that we are going to see more of that.

She wrote this as she does all her music herself and her husband. She performs it herself. Many weeks rehearsal just to gain confidence and feel safe on that pole let alone perform it without missing a note or looking terrified. Then we add the lyrics and meaning behind the song which is so poignant in todays world,.Together with her look and the amazing staging which brilliantly ties it all together. A mesmerizing performance by an extraordinary brave and super talented artist. Win or no win, this is a blow away spectacle.
I read that in an interview she said that this was about the post natal depression she went through and as one who also suffered from it this is an accurate depiction of it. Bravo!!
megclif. Yes that is what she is sharing and this is very personal to her. As a life long sufferer myself of clinical depression I empathise with you and hope you are on the other side. There is still much scepticism and ignorance surrounding mental illness. As is very evident in some of the comments. I don't need or seek out their opinion anyway.. Not saying the performances and songs of the other countries weren’t great also..... coz a lot of them were fantastic. This was the real winner in my eyes. Took it to the next level! Honestly the best staging I've seen on Eurovison and the concept was so unique. Defiantly deserved more than 9th, she deserved the win. Sort of. If you look at the rehearsal videos, the background screens are integral to this, and the wide open space of the stage to the front and sides (and upwards!) is allowing for SO much movement of the 6 meter bendy poles.

I am greek and this is my favourite eurovision song. I love the netherlands' song too, but it will be unfair to win. Australia's song is a pop-opera song, unusual in our days and it also has a very hard(for the vocal) and dangerous staging. All the eurovision songs for this year, except for Australia, are very simillar with other old ones.

Israel and Morocco are both in the "European Broadcasting Zone", which is how the Eurovision members are eligible.
Australia is in it because we asked really nicely for about ten years, and the show gets higher ratings in Australia than it does in some European countries.

Israel (Middle East), and some of Russia and Azerbaijan (Europe and Asia).

Oh back in the day, I remember when this song was selected all the Australian folks’ comments on CZcams were all so negative. Well I bought the track from iTunes months ago, enjoying it while thinking Australians don’t know what a great song they have. The chorus in particular is wonderful, a proper ear worm. Kate is gonna SLAY tonight and It’ll be a joy to vote for her. Good luck from the 🇬🇧
I think a lot of Aussies did know how good this song was which is why it won convincingly .. and knowing Kate's incredible creative talent, she was always going to bring magic. It's beyond a song.
