But it takes the song from great to epic lol

He is Sami, an indigenous person, and he is performing a type of native song called "Joik".
It's actually quite amazing how he partaked considering the history and abuse of the Sami people. Their language was forbidden, their culture looked down upon and they were forced to send their children to Christian residential schools to make them less "heathen". Sami language was forbidden in schools until 1985 in Norway. To this day they still have their rights infringed upon. Like destroying their natural habitat where they keep reindeer. Or dumping toxic waste into their fjords.
I hope this was educational to all the comments here who clearly aren't educated about native people. Him representing Norway was a big deal historically speaking. And he did great :)

That bald guy must be the king of norway
He is actually a very humble guy. I worked at the Norwegian finals after-party, and i talked to him a bit. At the time i didn't know who had won, but everyone kept flocking around him so i just put two and two together. So i went over and congratulated him on the victory, but he wouldn't have none of that, according to him he was not the one to be praised. That's when i realized it was a band that won.
His voice is great and powerful so yeah I agree
He is a sami, not norwegian and we dont want to be. He is king of Sapmi.

Hands down the best Eurovision song ever. How this didn't win that year is beyond me.

Give the public audience larger control of the outcome, this discrepancy between public and jury every year is getting tiring. Great performance Norway! Love from Greece!
Totally agree, at least change the criterias that the juries use when they're voting. The people voted for a fairly catchy song, representing Norways ethnicity through pop. The juries however judged it "too simple", but failed to see the entirety. Same story with Greece 2011, great involvement of cultural elements, but became too simple in the eyes of the jury, epic song got robbed😪
@@kristoffergillisarbodebesc7290 I'm glad you took notice of that song, it was indeed one of our better participations among the mediocrities we've sent the last few years. But damn, I thought that was what judges were there for, to see everything as a whole...

Not a solution to the problem. You see, countries like Malta and etc. would be always on the bottom of ranking, despite having a great song, for example Michaela with Chameleon. Norway was my favourite too although I am from Sweden.
However, your opinion as quoted here is incorrect:
"Juries are bullsihit, they are just there to make sure Sweden be always favorite"
Sweden´s investments into music education has been very large for a long time. The reason is that when Sweden was more of a socialist society there were many many idealists in the swedish schools that actively promoted music as a subject for the pupils. Their idealism and enthusiasm during several decades is the reason that the swedish music industry is a major player today in the international music industry. Just check for Yourself how many ( !! ) swedish musicians were engaged in other countries development of their songs. Or why not come to Sweden and live through the swedish eurovision competition ? It is a far greater competition then in possibly ANY other country !
As examples: Why do You think the dutch winner this year goes to Stockholm to develop his music ? Or why do You think even the eurovision final was arranged by swedish specialists (the same guy that leads the swedish euriovision competition). It is not by chance that Sweden often wins the jury votes. It is due to our large investments in music education for the people during many years and the music industry that has grown out of these investments.
to be fair, the juries saved norway from getting our 4th zero points back in 2012
@@staffanlundberg Agree. I am also from sweden. I think people judge our country because it is Sweden and not the song :/
291 points from the people. The real winner was Norway. Eurovision jurys have never had good music taste.
Norway got technical problems the day that they performed for the jury only... They wanted to try agian, but got rejected 😡😡😡
@TheSilentWolf not winning the jurys vote is good for economy at least. I'm happy the people hated Sweden's song. In my book it didn't represent sweden at all.
Yes, but in the norwegian final, Norway said they wanted to win becuase it was a 10th year anneversity.... Norway also won in 2009.
They have, only for Sweden
The netherlands were the best
Their energy is insane. I can feel it trespassing the screen and I have goosebumps as I hear the crowd singing along with such passion.
Just came back to check this one 4,5 years later, and it’s a real banger🤩
YES
My mom hates Eurovision but loved this performance so much that she even voted. The guy with the deep vocals is the BEST.
The bald guy?
@@joelembidfanclub2985 he absolutely stole the show
@@joelembidfanclub2985 yes
I have to agree with you but the other two did well
true!! He was the one the reason I think the one that make this song amazing!
Real winner. In old ESC rules without fake jury they won ESC.
Don’t blame any longer, we are still to live long and celebrate Eurovision
Without Jury vote Russia would win almost every year due to the Russian diaspora. Why do you think they re-introduced jury voting back?
@@OctavioHadraLMFAO
@@OctavioHadra It's just so bad that the Juries for so many years haven't been voting right at all. Look at this years top 3 from juries. Non of them got even half of Norways votes this year.
@@arnulfrafoss Absolutely farcical the top 3, Norway definite winners for me, then Germany and North Macedonia should have been 2nd and 3rd, though North Macedonia and Germany didn't get nothing from public votes, which again is farcical
If I had to explain what Eurovision is to an alien, or to an American, with one song, it would probably be this one. Congrats from Italy!
As a dutch person, this totally deserved the win and norway was ROBBED
I am from The Netherlands and really happy that Duncan won, but i think Norway was robbed by the jury votes. Norway was my favourite together with Switzerland and France.
Duncan ant the Netherlands deserved to win. Of course we Norwegians feel bad about the jury desisions. But KEiiNO were satisfied with winning the televotes. No complaints, they are so positive persons.
@@JoanMaddie they were the opposite of sore losers. They were delighted to get public vote.
It was a poor eurovision this year, but Norway was the better song. From Ireland.
@@JoanMaddie such a great song...I voted for them too....such sweet persons. All the love from the Netherlands ❤❤🇳🇱
@@JoanMaddie Yeah, well at least the Dutch televoters gave Norway 12 points :-)
@@ALIChurchill Thank you very much for that! Norway gave your country 8 points. Not bad, but should have been full score! I have noticed in earlier esc comp. that NL often gives us good points. :)
We don't need the jury. Let the people decide the true winner.
I don't think that would work..Most people have no idea about good music or performances. Generic pop songs would always win since thats what attracts the most audience. Also most people would vote the same 4-5 songs and so most songs outside the fan favorites would be without any points. There are also many other reasons that show voting without jury would be a bad idea.
It should be debated in the stage... But that will take a lot of time.
Of course it will work! This is a popular song contest. The people should decide. We don’t need some average musicisians, to correct our taste. Besides, their votes, are all over the place.
We need to get rid of the juries, before they make more blunders, and ruin, the whole esc concept
This is the best song in ESC ever.
On of the most beautiful moments in ESC history .
This is what I think Eurovision is about, representing your country with song. The fact that they based their song on sámi culture is truly amazing. Not to mention the fact that they match each others voices so well
Wow Norway was robbed so hard by the jury.
Norway got technical problems the day that they performed for the jury only... They wanted to try agian, but got rejected 😡😡😡
Yes sorry
@@duckanimations7642 what?!? Omg thats so sad wtf UNFAIR
What happend was, a few times there was a black screen during the jury vote. That being said. With al the problems other country's had during rehearsals, they asked jury's to judge it on song only en not on the staging, so it woudn't matter anyway.
@@duckanimations7642 "technical problems" what a coincidence that the televote winner of Duncan's semifinal got sabotaged, and the other ones were Hatari...
This entry was BRILLIANT!!! One of the best ever songs at Eurovision. Tuneful, unique, quirky, relevant to the country and performed brilliantly on the night.
Duncan has one billion streams, how but does keiino have?
@@lllllllllllllllll905 у Дункана невероятно скучная и непримечательная песня, незаслуженно он победил
Не соглашусь, песня победителя до сих пор крутят.
The jury influence in the final result should be drastically reduced. 200 people shouldn't have the same power with 200 million people. They deserved to win. ❤
LIKE
E-X-A-C-T-L-Y !!! 200 people definetly can't have the same power of 200 MILLION people !!!
The jury has way to much power -.-
The 200 people ought'a have the power to tip the scales, but not to solely pressurize the scales
Something between 5-15 % influence I think would be decent
@@gryanettn No, the public have way too much power. If you rely solely on the public then you go back to the bad old days of block voting. See how bad things got in 2008! It's much fairer this way - although you can't please everyone!
Norway, winner of the televoting! Amazing show, KEiiNO!
I thought they didn't win televoting and italy did :P
Ugly Ombre Norway finished 3rd in the televote with 253pts
No, Norway won by a very solid margin, 291 points. 30 more the nr 2 Netherlands, and 38 more than Italy.
@@Dutchgguy1 Ok thanks.
@@Dutchgguy1 if only Norway were not done so dirty by the jury
This song is epic and beautiful. A perfect combination of completely different musical styles: the contemporary eurodance and the traditional joik. This is what modern Europe means: respect the past while looking for the future. That’s why it should have been the winning song.
The most eurovisionistic song Eurovision has ever eurovisioned.
The best song ever. Norway you are the winner!
The televote winner (: Norway Are still proud of themself to Get The highest public votes. But remember The Netherlands Are the winner and lets be happy for him (: Love from Norway
It's october and I'm still bitter that this didn't win!

4 years later and it's still my fav Eurovision entry ever 😭❤️
This trio can't dissapoint you with feelings, there's no way you can't feel one of those during the song:
- Tom Hugo Hermansen - the main vibe of the song;
- Alexandra Rotan - makes you feel lyrics in 100%;
- Fred Buljo - makes you feel the song when you can't feel the lyrics.
I don't get how this song has received just a 47 points from the jury, it's pathetic. This song is a true winner!
Norway got technical problems the day that they performed for the jury only... They wanted to try agian, but got rejected!!!
@@duckanimations7642 Jury's were asked to judge it on song only. They got a black screen sometimes but audio was still coming trough. So it wouldn't matter anyway.
Besides, a lot of country's had technical problems during jury finals, especially with soundmixing.
We don't understand it either. And from what I heard, if it was up to the jury in the semi finals, Norway wouldnt even be in the Finals. It's really disturbing to think about, when millions of people across Europe voted it to the top.
MartinhoFLY I loved Margaret Berger and Mørland too
