@@Suchineme Yeah, the juries really discourage these kind of songs and that means most of esc songs are boring and you cant remember them at the point when juries give their 12 points as they sound so similar.

This is not just a song; it's a whole experience. It's got everything; an incredibly catchy earworm, memorable and fun characters, and a staging and choreography that's both addictive and supremely original. In 2006, Finland won with a similar philosophy. These guys are like the spirit of Eurovision, and I think it's really strange (and a little insulting) that Subwoolfer only finished in 10th place, while a lot of generic crap finished higher. Well done Subwoolfer, you are my faves from 2022!

They didn't win, but performances like this is exactly why I'll never stop loving Eurovision
They were the 7th most televoted song. It was because of the juries that they didn't get an even better possition, that they greatly deserved. They are my favorites of this year without any doubt.

There is something that I found particularly amusing (and brilliant) about this. They had their theme all sorted with the wolf masks and yellow bodysuits, then they decided that it made perfect sense to include DJ Astronaut to complete their line-up. Oh I love Eurovision!
Well, its a story behind it. This is how they present themselves before the national final, MGP:
«The brothers Keith and Jim met 4.5 billion years ago, when the moon was a separate planet. Since then, they have conquered every planet in the universe with their music, and are thus the largest band in the galaxy - ever. On June 20, 1969, the prophet Neil fell from heaven. They called him "the man with the strongest arms." (Neil Armstrong who’s the first man on the moon). Neil promised to help Keith and Jim become superstars on earth. He would come and get them when they had written the best song in the whole universe. Unfortunately, Neil never returned, but Subwoolfer got hold of DJ Astronaut and has now reached Earth. Now they will look for Neil, and take the musical throne with the song "Give that Wolf a Banana". They will achieve this by performing on the most prestigious stage on earth.»
Since Subwoolfer is from the moon and they cant speak the languages on earth, they have had a translator who has spoken for them in every interview by sending their thoughts to him (an earthling as Subwoolfer call humans), which they met when they crashed their spaceship/ufo on the way to earth. This is a planned concept and made very clever and thorough, and definately not a joke (wven though some (even the juries) thought so.
And the best part being the DJ was the one who was actually singing XD
Fun fact: The DJ is actually Gaute. He admitted it recently in a Norwegian talk show that they needed a better dancer as one of the wolves, so he became the DJ;)

In my opinion, that's even overrated. For instance, JOWST had the similar perfomance 5 years ago, he got the same place, though that guy had an adequate appearance and plot of his song, though both these songs have awesome EDM melody

I see many talks about real talent vs fun songs. What is talent? And how to define what is a serious song or not? I do think subwoolfer is a serious project and it shows of on the charts. Sure it is silly lyrics . But the whole package of the dancing/ concept/backstory and the amazing production of the tune itself just tells me that this is not something someone has done lightly. The vocals aswell was pitch perfect and amazing. It takes a brilliant mind to actually create a concept like this and stick with it. Its much Harder work than people think and is a reason it goes viral too. Everyone can make a sob song and often its labeled as serious and gets much credit. Not everyone can make a song about a banana and it goes viral on the charts. Music should be given to the people and not to the critics.
Well said 👏👏👏 some people also think its easy to sing behind a mask like tha and dance at the same time. They were exhausted everry time they had performed. (let alone be in character for such a long time). This isnt something made in an hour or two like a lot of songs actually can be written. This is thorough work and planning.

Very well-stated. It's a lot harder to be funny, actually funny, than it is to spew out some pseudo-emotional drippy lovesong cliche and get a reaction. Staying in character, building a world, a mythos, mannerisms and so on and pulling it off is really difficult.

This was a pretty good Eurovision year overall. I don't think any of the songs were actually bad this year, but there weren't really any extraordinary ones either IMO (I loved Stefania and Slo Mo though).

Gonna be honest: I find their choreography more hypnotizing than Spain's. Idk if it's maybe bc I'm not too into sex appeal (Spain still gave a great performance though!), but something about Subwoolfer's movements are just more entertaining and fun.

@@sayunara I never said Spain was bad though, and I agree with other discussion I've seen that their performance was Much more physically demanding (the most of the night) and that they had the highest energy. I just picked Spain because people were saying that Spain had the best choreo and I find it funny my favorite was Norway, which I understand I'm in the minority with. Again, I'm not attacking Spain, I was just using the group that was the majority favorite to make a comparison because they weren't as visually satisfying to me subjectively. That's all.
