@@rhs2881 I don't think so. Their products are amazing, I used 3 of their products and so many of my friends are using it. If you're not allergic to Aloe Vera, it's amazing !
The short answer is Yes. The long answer is that it depends on how much sunlight enters your home as UVB enters via glass too. Curtains need to be super thick to cut out UVB. You could use a moisturiser with spf though- if you are going to be indoors strictly.

I would leave the salicylic out on days I am using this retinoid. the routine would be cleanse - wait 20 mins- HA-Niacinamide (you could switch this order too..its really a preference I have switched when in a hurry and not found anything amiss)- 5 min gap and then this retinoid. moisturiser.

Hi Subhechha, I have not yet finished reviewing the kojic acid and arbutin combination. That said I beleive that alpha arubutin is such a great ingredient / active that it really does not need any support from another ingredient to be formulated with it. So if you are introducing alpha arbutin to your skincare my suggestion is to go for pure alpha arbutin. You can keep it as part of your skincare long term. its a great active...i love it.
Hi, Any recommendations with what moisturizer and sunscreen can be used along with minimalist vit C and minimalist retinoid. I am using ponds moisturizer and neutrogena 50+ sunscreen. Any suggestions would be helpful.
Neutrogena is good suncreen. If the moisturiser is working foryou dont change it ...we need basic moisturisers in skincare as the actives are anyway being introduced separately. So dont worry about it as along it has hydration and moisture.
Thank you for this review on Retinol, I have never used retinols, but since now I'm in my 40s, wanted to start. When you say do not use any other retinoids /retinol based products along with this serum, you mean only on that particular day or the whole week? The reason I'm asking is, I was planning to try earth rhythm's multi vitamin moisturiser which seem to have retinol :)

I have been using tretnoin 0.5 percent for the past 4months once a week and for the last month i have been using 2days in a week.... I would like to include minimalist retinol. I am glad you like the video... I am quite surprised so many people found it useful. I thought it was too dense with information but I just couldnt get myself to make a surface level video about a retinoid. This is my longest video! Your question is very valid. I dont have a straight up answer so I will share my opinion here. Tretinoin is well researched for transforming skin while HPR is like a new kid on the block- its good, fancy and shiny but it just does not have the research to back it up on the results YET. So if you are using the 0.5% my suggestion would be to stick to it in the long term. Since you already have bought this retinoid 2% give it a go and see how your skin responds. When i used the retinoid from The ORdinary I didnt find much remarkable difference better than 0.5%. So I switched back to 0.5% after finishing the TO retinoid bottle. But I also find using the 0.5% more affordable as it stretches more and also more convenient. So the decision to switch back was based on reasons other than performance. I am using the minimalist now and will post a review in a few months. Please do share how it goes with you if you use it :) Thank you for stopping by!

YOU MUST wear a sunscreen irrespective of whether you are using retinoids or not. YOU MUST wear a sunscreen when you are using retinoids. YOU WILL THANK me 10 years later when your skin is looking fresher and younger than those around you who dont wear sunscreen. I dont like to mix anything with my retinoids. cleanse retinoid moisturise Oats moisturiser is a product that the minimalsit made in a hurry to catch the bus on moisturisers- it pills over actives, under sunscreens. I would expect a much much better product considering the company has the a business of manufacturing actives and they encourage their customers to use ALL The actives possible. kisinae test nahin kiyaa kee moisturiser kaisae use karengae over thier actives. silly. chek out my vid on moisturisers and pick what works for you- keep it simple.

I am glad you found ut useful. If you are referring to retinoids as in tretinoic then moisturizer goes before. If its retinoid 2%then its after. Same with retinol, after.

They are both good. You could layer it anyway that works for you just let each product absorb in. I do HA, niacinamide, vitc, AA, azelaic moisturizer. You can add retinol between HA n niacinamide or after niacinamide.

Yes if your skin needs it you can use it. it would depend on what you are looking for for your skin. Please do watch the retinoid playlist for better understanding the difference. Its long an asnwer for me to type in here :)
@@RubinaSkincare one more thing is 2% retenoid safe for beginners...most of the international CZcamsrs like Dr.Dray and more suggest to start with 0.2% or 0.5% retinol... But in India I guess those stuffs are not easily available...
I am so glad you found this video useful. It was so long but I could nto get myself to make a short, surface-level information video on retinoid given how one has to use them responsibly. Yes you can use Niacinamide and alpha arbutin with this Granactive retinoid. Give it 5 min gap. But please use alpha arbutin +HA combination. I am not sure of kojic acid and ALpha arbutin formulation YET (its on my review list but some months away)! So at this point I would not advise combining that with retinoid since i have not tried it myself...and if you do try it please share your experience.
I the start I used minimalist every alternate night with niacinamide for am and alternatively for pm, but when I get break out in period time so I use it for 4 5 days for daily and my break out is gone

Tabish as a long term strategy I would suggest 0.025% for a year..then 0.5%. Since tretinoin has data backing on its capability to transform skin. the HPR is still new...but you could definitely use it in between for a few months and see how your skin responds. It does not irritate the skin as much as the retin A does.

Sushmita, you have to go through the entire retinoid playlist before you start any retinoid. The skin will go through a retinization process and. you have to plan for it and be patient. If you over irritate it there will be redness and inflammation. retinoid in the pm vitc am keep your moisturiser simple and make it has no other retinoid in it or vit c. sunscreen is good. when you are on retinoids the sunscreen will tend to burn a little especially when your skin is going through the retinization process. the barrier is disturbed so expect that...
If you are careful to not get it inot your eyes you can. with nose folds use little qty and same with mouth. Let your skin guide you...if it gets red go slow by reducing qty.
Hi..there ..you do have great experience retinoid...it seems .. I have combination skin with very dry on chin and cheek areas ..in my early fourties. I was using neutrogena from 2012..until I could not afford it till last year june. I have made my own oil based DIY retino serum.. it just my formula which feels very heavy on the skin during night 3 times a week..no preservative at all..only a small amount on face does work.. and it seems to work almost comparable to neutrogena. But when I miss even once out of 3 application in a week..my skin become dry and patchy.. Its seems no amount of moisturizer can give a better texture to my skin than ratinol and I dont use retinol during day..

I have oily, acne prone skin with no reaction to retino A initially during the first 2-3 weeks and then i incresed the application to 3 a week and having a bad breakout. If your house has big windows with a lot of natural light coming in and the curtains are lgith then its absolutely important you use sunscreen indoors. otherwise you dont need to. Neck lines at your age might just bethe way it runs in your family. Its completely natural to have these. Is it just wrinkles you are talking about or darkness? Eyes start using a good eye cream- reequill may be. I honestly feel its important to use eye creams as moisturisers can be irritating at times.

Hey , I wanted to ask that I’ve dealt w acne scars and pigmentation after 5 years of acne (13-17). I’m currently at a point where my skin is doing amazing as what my dermatologist has said. But I’ve wanted to try retinoid for a while now for anti ageing since I’ve started my 20’s. I currently use a glycolic acid face wash followed by niacinamide, hyarulonic acid and aloe Vera with an occasional AHA BHA peel once a week. I’ve used Benzol peroxide for spot treatments as well. Do you think I fit the criteria to start retinoid ? And if so what brand would you suggest?
Hi gayatri, rerinoids are a great choice especially for acne scars n anti aging. Tretinoic is backed with science n is a benchmark in anti aging. HPR is a new entrant. Given this i would recommend tretinoic. Start with 0.025...n once you hit 25 move to 0.5. DONT forget the SUNSCREEN: ) and do see my other vid on retinoids for starting the schedule

RIght back at you Beautiful! It does fade them to some extent and def prevents new ones from coming as it helps iwth UV damage. I believe adding paneer or such proteins really helps! I have not tried this but I have heard it often from senior women around...

Aakifah its best that you consult the doctor whose giving you the treatment-- different lasers have different post treatment protocols. DEFINITELY use a sunscreen though- loads of it. I dont think HA and Niacinamide would be any issue BUT please get it approved by your dermat/doc.

The short answer is Yes. The long answer is that it depends on how much sunlight enters your home as UVB enters via glass too. Curtains need to be super thick to cut out UVB. You could use a moisturiser with spf though- if you are going to be indoors strictly.

I would leave the salicylic out on days I am using this retinoid. the routine would be cleanse - wait 20 mins- HA-Niacinamide (you could switch this order too..its really a preference I have switched when in a hurry and not found anything amiss)- 5 min gap and then this retinoid. moisturiser.

Hi Subhechha, I have not yet finished reviewing the kojic acid and arbutin combination. That said I beleive that alpha arubutin is such a great ingredient / active that it really does not need any support from another ingredient to be formulated with it. So if you are introducing alpha arbutin to your skincare my suggestion is to go for pure alpha arbutin. You can keep it as part of your skincare long term. its a great active...i love it.

I am using ponds moisturizer and neutrogena 50+ sunscreen.

Neutrogena is good suncreen. If the moisturiser is working foryou dont change it ...we need basic moisturisers in skincare as the actives are anyway being introduced separately. So dont worry about it as along it has hydration and moisture.

Thank you for this review on Retinol, I have never used retinols, but since now I'm in my 40s, wanted to start. When you say do not use any other retinoids /retinol based products along with this serum, you mean only on that particular day or the whole week? The reason I'm asking is, I was planning to try earth rhythm's multi vitamin moisturiser which seem to have retinol :)

I am glad you like the video... I am quite surprised so many people found it useful. I thought it was too dense with information but I just couldnt get myself to make a surface level video about a retinoid. This is my longest video!
Your question is very valid. I dont have a straight up answer so I will share my opinion here. Tretinoin is well researched for transforming skin while HPR is like a new kid on the block- its good, fancy and shiny but it just does not have the research to back it up on the results YET. So if you are using the 0.5% my suggestion would be to stick to it in the long term.
Since you already have bought this retinoid 2% give it a go and see how your skin responds. When i used the retinoid from The ORdinary I didnt find much remarkable difference better than 0.5%. So I switched back to 0.5% after finishing the TO retinoid bottle. But I also find using the 0.5% more affordable as it stretches more and also more convenient. So the decision to switch back was based on reasons other than performance.
I am using the minimalist now and will post a review in a few months. Please do share how it goes with you if you use it :)

Oats moisturiser is a product that the minimalsit made in a hurry to catch the bus on moisturisers- it pills over actives, under sunscreens. I would expect a much much better product considering the company has the a business of manufacturing actives and they encourage their customers to use ALL The actives possible. kisinae test nahin kiyaa kee moisturiser kaisae use karengae over thier actives. silly.

I am glad you found ut useful. If you are referring to retinoids as in tretinoic then moisturizer goes before. If its retinoid 2%then its after. Same with retinol, after.

They are both good. You could layer it anyway that works for you just let each product absorb in. I do HA, niacinamide, vitc, AA, azelaic moisturizer. You can add retinol between HA n niacinamide or after niacinamide.

I am so glad you found this video useful. It was so long but I could nto get myself to make a short, surface-level information video on retinoid given how one has to use them responsibly.
Yes you can use Niacinamide and alpha arbutin with this Granactive retinoid. Give it 5 min gap. But please use alpha arbutin +HA combination. I am not sure of kojic acid and ALpha arbutin formulation YET (its on my review list but some months away)! So at this point I would not advise combining that with retinoid since i have not tried it myself...and if you do try it please share your experience.

I the start I used minimalist every alternate night with niacinamide for am and alternatively for pm, but when I get break out in period time so I use it for 4 5 days for daily and my break out is gone

Tabish as a long term strategy I would suggest 0.025% for a year..then 0.5%. Since tretinoin has data backing on its capability to transform skin.
the HPR is still new...but you could definitely use it in between for a few months and see how your skin responds. It does not irritate the skin as much as the retin A does.

Sushmita, you have to go through the entire retinoid playlist before you start any retinoid. The skin will go through a retinization process and. you have to plan for it and be patient. If you over irritate it there will be redness and inflammation.

when you are on retinoids the sunscreen will tend to burn a little especially when your skin is going through the retinization process. the barrier is disturbed so expect that...

If you are careful to not get it inot your eyes you can. with nose folds use little qty and same with mouth. Let your skin guide you...if it gets red go slow by reducing qty.

I have combination skin with very dry on chin and cheek areas ..in my early fourties.
I was using neutrogena from 2012..until I could
not afford it till last year june.
I have made my own oil based DIY retino serum.. it just my formula which feels very heavy on the skin during night 3 times a week..no preservative at all..only a small amount on face does work.. and it seems to work almost comparable to neutrogena.
But when I miss even once out of 3 application in a week..my skin become dry and patchy..
Its seems no amount of moisturizer can give a better texture to my skin than ratinol and I dont use retinol during day..
What's the question? The dryness might be more damage than just dryness...FYI

Hi I'm 25 and have neck lines and fine lines around eyes. I'm very insecure with the neck lines though. I've been thinking of getting my hands on retinoid but couldn't find the ordinary one. If your house has big windows with a lot of natural light coming in and the curtains are lgith then its absolutely important you use sunscreen indoors. otherwise you dont need to.
Neck lines at your age might just bethe way it runs in your family. Its completely natural to have these. Is it just wrinkles you are talking about or darkness?
Eyes start using a good eye cream- reequill may be. I honestly feel its important to use eye creams as moisturisers can be irritating at times.

Hey , I wanted to ask that I’ve dealt w acne scars and pigmentation after 5 years of acne (13-17). I’m currently at a point where my skin is doing amazing as what my dermatologist has said. But I’ve wanted to try retinoid for a while now for anti ageing since I’ve started my 20’s. I currently use a glycolic acid face wash followed by niacinamide, hyarulonic acid and aloe Vera with an occasional AHA BHA peel once a week. I’ve used Benzol peroxide for spot treatments as well. Do you think I fit the criteria to start retinoid ? And if so what brand would you suggest?
Hi gayatri, rerinoids are a great choice especially for acne scars n anti aging. Tretinoic is backed with science n is a benchmark in anti aging. HPR is a new entrant. Given this i would recommend tretinoic. Start with 0.025...n once you hit 25 move to 0.5. DONT forget the SUNSCREEN: ) and do see my other vid on retinoids for starting the schedule

RIght back at you Beautiful! It does fade them to some extent and def prevents new ones from coming as it helps iwth UV damage. I believe adding paneer or such proteins really helps! I have not tried this but I have heard it often from senior women around...

Aakifah its best that you consult the doctor whose giving you the treatment-- different lasers have different post treatment protocols. DEFINITELY use a sunscreen though- loads of it. I dont think HA and Niacinamide would be any issue BUT please get it approved by your dermat/doc.

How should i take care before going into the sun and whats the best sunscreen you can advise.

I used retinoid 2 percent from minamilist and then layer it with night cream mom and co. After applying I felt burning sensation so I stopped using retinoid.
its probably the night cream...try a very simple moisturiser like nivea or. ponds
