Hi my name is Emi. I'm born in raise in small town just outside Quebec City, this is where my lovely accent come from. My #vanlife story starts in September 2018. After a long-term relationship that I was trying for more than a year to rebuild, I decided it was time to end this toxic relationship once for all. This is where I decided to move away from this man that I was still in love with. I put all my belongings inside my SUV (GMC Jimmy) and moved six hours from where I was living. I didn’t know where I would sleep, didn’t know where I would work but I knew I needed to make a drastic move. At that time, I told myself I will only sleep in my car for a month while looking for a place to rent. What I didn’t know is that one month became another month and another month. In the end, I end up sleeping in my car for a full year. Even if people will consider this the lowers time of my life, this experience was the best thing I couldn’t have done with my life. I took that year to focus on myself, decide what I wanted, and most importantly what I didn’t want. That year made me also realize that for so long, I was chasing the wrong dreams. I was chasing what society wanted me to be: to have a big house, a steady job, kids, get married… None of those dreams was making me happy. In September 2019, while I was actively looking for a van, I received a phone call that someone had found my cat (Kelly). After, trying for hours with no success to communicate with my ex-boyfriend (who was taking care of her), I decided to drive the six hours to go pick her up. Without going into too much detail, it turns out he wasn’t able to take care of her anymore. So I brought her in a cat kennel for a couple of days until I found a van we both could live in. I put all the savings that I had accumulated while living in my car and bought my van (a 2011 Ford Econoline that I end up adding a hightop) In the beginning, It wasn’t so glamour. My cat and I were sleeping on a mattress on the floor of the van. We both had to adjust. Now, my cat loves this lifestyle as much as I do; she looks at the window while I’m driving and she loves exploring new places. Since then, my cat Kelly and I are have been living full-time in my self convert van.
So very sorry for that lady that is homeless. 3 dogs in a car especially the big one sad for them too. No you are not homeless it's your choice to live in your van. And you have a good life. I lost my home within months of retirement. Not from money problems from health problems. I collapsed paralyzed from the waist down from stage 4 cancer I never knew I had. I'll be in a nursing home until I pass. I love watching you and VanCity Vanlife traveling your adventures for the time I watch the video I'm not paralyzed I'm enjoying snow-covered forests or the ocean or mountain view. You are a very beautiful person beautiful from the inside (your heart) which reflects on your face. Thank you and Cam So Much for sharing your lives. Never ever think your video's don't mean a lot. To some of us they are our World.
Stay safe stay Blessed ❤️ ❤
With all the videos on youtube teaching people in this situation how to survive I don't feel sorry for anyone like this anymore. We are all watching these type of youtube videos to learn for one reason or another.
I agree with Virginia. Emi has made a "choice". She loves the outdoors!
Home is where the heart is. And if your heart isn't in living nomadically, then living in your car will feel like being homeless.
Emi you are not homeless, your van is home and you are a really nice lady.
When I lived in my car I felt invisible.. I hope that ladies ok ❤
One of the things I absolutely love about you is your no judgement, I have been living in my minivan for over 6 years now and I'm always amazed by the people that judge me, houseless not homeless. Have a fantastic week!
Bill-less basically. I'm sure not totally sure but no house note or rent .
Some people literally don't have family or friends who can take them in and have no other options, some can go home to their parents. So it all depends on one's circumstances I guess as to what homelessness means. Thought the lady was very considerate and seemed a wee bit sad.
Smart human to pay attention to Kelly & honor her instincts ❤ She is protecting you !!
Now I feel like Popcorn too!
HOME really is where the heart is. ❤
The Pacific Northwest is incredibly beautiful . I could look at that scenery for hours! Hope you and Kelly had a great one! Meowww
You aren't homeless you are houseless your vehicle is your new home.
Have you had to live in a car out of need for any length of time?
Our vans are our homes ….4 years for me and I would not trade this lifestyle at all
She's home free ! ❤
@@IzzyOnTheMove I love that!
@@scrumpymcgrumpy I own land.. Very small but it's mine. I'm living out of the runaway camper grid tied. I need to work on my primary residence but know what? 😎 I'm trying to save energy and keep a buzz. It's working.
I like that road - I've been up and down several times on my bike and in the car.
Heartbreaking 💔💔💔 How many Homeless WOMEN & DOGS are forced to live in their cars in AMERICA🇺🇲. too!
And Australia 🇦🇺
And New Zealand 😢
I was forced into being homeless with 3 dogs & 4 cats. I've learned to change my mindset to being houseless, my home is my van & I prefer it to living in a moldy apartment with noisy neighbors. My remaining dog, the others died of old age, & I are quite content with the illusion of being in control of our environment. I have no plans to return to sticks & bricks. My life is far from heartbreaking, the beautiful sights I wake up to, the peace, no fear of landlords threats. Don't knock it til you try it..😁
Nice she was concerned over her noise (as opposed to being noisy against people's requests).
She was nice, you should have said ,me too! Think it would have made her more relaxed and safe
Thank you kelly for the kisses. Sweet kitty
It's a pretty campground and the water is gorgeous. Kelly's enjoying herself.❤
"Home is where you hang your hat."
That’s right Emily. You are not homeless. You are houseless You have a place to sleep with everything you need.
Love the view with mountains and your own river
Geez who has that view..
Stay safe and warm with kitty
and she has Kitty, good friends and a boyfriend that cares about her and she has a miniature (tiny, tiny) house on wheels 😊
There’s nothing better then a bowl of popcorn and good tv show 😊. Sweet kitty is always so adorable 🥰! Be safe and continue to enjoy your sweet travels with kitty…….🍃🌸😊🌸🍃
Thank Kelli for the kisses! I hope that lady finds peace and safety, in her life. Beautiful spot Emi. 🕊
Yes it is a breath taking view for sure! Oh it’s so very beautiful!!!!
Kelly is amazing!!!
I’m always glad you are able to let Chrome know where you are!!❤️
I wish I could meet y’all 😃
Prayers for the homeless lady🙏🏻.
Hugs and prayers and love to you and Kelly ❤️🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
Yup! No cell service.....most of Australia has none either! 😊
Starlink to the rescue! Glad you’re not limited to travelling within the confines of cell service… freedom to explore to live your life fully
Enjoy watching your channel
Emi you are so considerate and accepting. I like that.
Accepting and considerate ❤❤ Great loving Attitude 💗
I love how you close with kitty-kisses -- it's so freakin' sweet!
I'm older and struggling to survive financially; I see living in my car as a very distict possibility. The biggest barrier to living that way is the lack of resources to do a build-out and purchase the equipment and gear necessary to survive that way. Having these challenges doesn't mean I will just give up. Gotta keep going!
You made me think you were going to fall walking on the ice! Be careful out there. Kitty is so cute! God bless . Stay safe 🙏
Hi Emily and little Kelly,
Always lovely to catch up with your latest video. Glorious scenery and would be more beautiful in person. Congratulations on your first phone call from Surfshark. Huge hugs 🤗 and ❤ from Perth, Western Australia 🇦🇺. 💖
That setting is so beautiful! I love the sound of a river flowing. Lucky you!
Love you, love watching you and Kellie, stay safe and happy.
Yup absolutely beautiful Enjoy. Prayers for the lady to find her path❤ blessings and love
Awesome place to camp. Sweet Kelly protecting you, she is a fabulous cat! Your home is so perfect for you and her.
Cool I know that road well, great scenery.
Oooooh! Look at that beautiful blanket that subscriber gifted you. It's gorgeous.
Install your router on the small ledge that was the metal roof and you can run the wire all the way
Hey Emi that was a fun video. What a beautiful drive to your camp spot I’m glad you have your star link so you have service and you can make phone calls and get phone calls. You and Kelli are amazing. You guys always make my day you guys be SAFE out there and stay warm.🇺🇸♥️🙏👍🙂🐈⬛🏔️🚐🇨🇦
She was maybe lonely looking to make a friend😊
That's what I always said, houseless not homeless, living in a van for 3 yrs.
Had $$ for rent and utilities BUT not for the high amount deposits. Plus, monthly van rental and necessities cost quite a bit, too.
It looked like a beautiful place to camp. What a clear stream!! That Starlink sure does come in handy. Enjoy your journey❣
Beautiful place. ❤
Hello Emi and Kelly!!!💖🐈 You've made a wonderful home for Kelly and you!!!❤ Thank you for sharing 🌟
She is houseless but has a home to live in. Never homeless if you live in her vehicle.
Smart to follow the animals instinct. They are more in touch with nature and danger. Cats have excellent hearing too.
Em, you have the best live with kelly, just be safe
I think Kelly has been watching Chrome and Cruzie too much (how he stopped and waited for you to boost him on up into the van) So cute
My grandparents lived in Lillooet when I was growing up. We went every summer , I loved it. The trees smell heavenly in the sun. I did not enjoy the drive there , I got car sick every time 🙄
Emi, I do worry about you when you’re alone out there. It’s not because of you in any way, it’s because there are some real dangers out there which can appear suddenly without warning. Bad people concern me most. I know you love your solitude but a psycho could pass by on the road, see you, then return later. I only say this because I have many times encountered that very situation. Glad that nice lady traveler joined your spot with her dogs. Stay safe, love you and Kitty.
Get a long wide strip of double sided velcro and attach one ened to back or side of cabinet up high then you can velcro the starlink wire into the velcro
Beautiful spot!! Right by a stream too......😊
Hi Emi and Kelly ❤ Beautiful spot nice to see you both 😊
You are brave - I would never camp alone ANYWHERE!😮
It’s not about bravery. It’s about knowledge and familiarity and practice. It’s about taking a tiny step and succeeding, and then taking another step the next day and succeeding again. Day after day. Taking steps further afield. Until one day realizing you’ve traveled the world.
@@jessiehead6525 : You are right, it's not about bravery - it's about DANGER!!!
So beautiful that river.
Here I am. I'm still grinning from your Ferry video. And kitty 🐈 was eating Smelt. Too darn cute. Great video. Now... watching this one
What a beautiful spot to call home for the night…That view is gorgeous!!!👠🚌👠
Wow such a beautiful place to sleep.
Enjoyed ⁰today's video. Take care of yourself and be safe.
I love that blue long sleeve shirt! The colour is wonderful on you. Great video!
You have a Van Blessed Nest🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉!!!!!
Love miss kittys kisses!
With your back! You’d better be careful on icy patches like that!
Good save on the popcorn
Hi Emi, perhaps consider verticals space and place or mount your router high up and or hidden. Doesn’t have to take up counter space. Best of luck!
You have a very sweet and down to earth disposition. I aspire to camp more but circumstances and fear of discomfort hold me back. thank you for making your videos. You are inspiring.
Homelessness is a mindset
Popcorn bed and movie! Awesome! Very organized and think thru in case of emergency!
She's looking out for you! That Kitty!
Aww such a good kitty
Looks like Miss Kelly loves it. Gorgeous campground also. Hope you loved it as we'll.
Just be careful out there. So people aren’t all there. Glad you and Kelly are safe
Nite Kelly and Emi. Be safe. Stay warm
Beautiful place ! Thanks for sharing 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Have a great day emi
Kitty does have your back, and she trusts you to have hers. I always trust my little dog's instincts, even if its something small.
I love that road!! Just make sure your breaks are good and you drive subject to conditions. Definitely visit in the shoulder season, very busy in the middle of summer!
Wow hey everywhere is frozen, sooner you than me you be careful you don’t slip it is rather beautiful with the river
What an idyllic spot, love it! 🤩
Has your boyfriend taken you shopping for new summer wear and sandals for Easter yet? Emi.
Wow, you are so real and amazing!
Kitty's guarding you. 😊
I hope the lady comes to feel better about herself. There was a time in my life when I had a job but I lived in my car for a while. Met some interesting people. In the beginning I thought you were doing some fancy ice skating. I'm glad you didn't fall. Stay upright!
Beautiful place. ❤ to ms kitty
Wonderful spot ❤
You have such a good sense of humor
Be careful on that ice, I broke my shoulder in four places on ice first torn ligaments are torn muscle. Be careful
Good video, thank you, lovely scenery, take care Elaine from Queensland Australia.
This starlink thing seems to be very helpful 😮😊
Wow what a outstanding campground, look at those mountains just breathtaking. Yeah cat lady appreciate you sharing I’m here watching now
Great video. Safe travels and stay warm.
Haha sorry tes patins Émi!!!
I think from just the several videos I’ve seen that Starlink works differently for different people and differently depending where you are on the globe! I liked the way you did a work around, figured out how to make it work.
Gorgeous views!
Starlink is awesome. Be careful on them roads. I'm from Colorado and people sometimes don't get found until spring.
You're very smart to pay attention you Kelly's body language. I agree with your comment how animals can sense things we don't. I have a nosy neighbor that hides behind things and watches everything I do when I'm outside. My horses and dog point him out and they're always right. He's such a creep. He's slowed down a bit when I laughed and waved at him. I also videoed him and zoomed in. Next I'll fly my drone to get footage. LOL. Bad boy vs good cameras. Enjoy your beautiful campsite.
Stay Safe
Hi Emi I have to say this ok and its how I look at things when we choose to make a choice to live a Nomadic life Its NOT Homeless its Debt less So we don't have to struggle yes it might be a struggle for a while BUT the pay off is a far better deal than the debt that you incur with the stick and brick life # Van Life for ever
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤You Two Rock ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Kiss and hug for your pretty guard kitty Kelly!
Thank you so much Sean. Have a good day
Great video as always, makes me want to get out and travel too. Unfortunately my van is still covered in snow😕
Sending love ❤
