I would not park that close having another option, but in a campground I would not be surprised that someone else did, some people are afraid of being far from other people, so while it made you feel unsafe, it likely made them feel safe.

It's just part of the experience as a full timer. Everyone has different criteria for what is too close and some feel more secure with close neighbors so they are not as isolated. As you have mentioned in the past, the great thing about this lifestyle is you can move if you don't like your neighbors.

Hi Carolyn, I am from the Netherlands and people camp much, much closer over here! I never camp in the Netherlands lol. I am from Amsterdam and when I was 15 years old I told my parents I would really love to see Alaska . And you know what? We went to Alaska for a month with a very simple camper! ( It may look like a was a very spoiled girl, but that is not the case. I just happen to had very adventurous parents). . I'm 58 now.

Carolyn I have a different point of view on the campers next to you. Sometimes we can get spoil having totally privacy out in nature. - so once in awhile you need to compromise a little bit and maybe joke around with your fellow campers and grow with the experience. It can be fun and learn what part of the country they are from, if they turn out very rough or hard to get along with , your still better off knowing it anyhow.

I personally don't like being right on top of others, but weighing the options I would choose the safest and quietest seeming person to be near. There are so many guesses that I'm pretty sure I would introduce myself and get a better feel for the situation. But! My 1st reaction would be annoyance, too!😂 I got a bunch of great tips from your video also, as always! You were one of my first inspirational go-to channels and I remain a loyal fan today. My ex had a great technique I always try and use. If someone came up to me about something I had done, how would I want to be approached and talked too about said issue (An issue I had no idea I had done!). With them angry and assuming I did it on purpose because I’m a jerk? Or nicely letting me know where I went wrong in their opinion. It doesn’t always work, but you’d be surprised. Most folks are nice. Or at least respond with what they get. Nice = nice. Anger = Anger.
I realize you didn’t approach them. Also an option. This is just a general life rule I try and follow (after a few deep breaths. Lol) Assuming I say anything. Often if I can “fix” it myself, will do that (leave, wait it out, etc). Enjoy your channel. One of the few that doesn’t jump from rig to rig!

We are going to dry camp for a few days so I made cold salads for three days. Then when we move to a campsite with hookups, I have premade frozen meals. This saves on water due to minimal cleanup. I also gives me more time to enjoy just relaxing. Win win.

I don't know how to edit so I'll continue. I think they feel safer instead of less safe next to us. To us it is weird because we are sometimes there working out and chose the place because it was not busy, and would prefer that people not drive so close to us, yet there they are. If course it also makes you wonder if they plan to rob you. But all of them have just been clueless close-parkers that feel safer next to somebody else. Sometimes they leave their car there, sometimes they sit there eating lunch, sometimes they teach their kid to drive right next to us with an empty giant area available they could use instead! Of course it is even more unsettling when you are alone and camping! But, just wanted to comment that there is a whole bunch of close-parkers that are apparently afraid to be alone or leave their car alone. Hope they come to realize there is a different point of view! Also, enjoyed the troll food joke, funny girl!

Within minutes of quiet enjoyment a car pulled up RIGHT NEXT to me, driver side and stopped engine. I was in my 20s and not very self assured so was essentially pushed off my hill and drove off.
In SoCal people will clump up on the road. They come from far behind then you lose them. ??? Looking, you realize they're riding your flank. Before you know it everyone pulled up and slowed down, too.
Nip it in the bud. First car, signal a lane change. Sleepers will wake up and speed off. "Nice" people will slow down to "let you in" which backs them off.

Crack window on other side of RV, use some Skunk spray prank, "smell from hell", or Fart Prank and quickly close the window, let it drift their way. If that doesn't move them after smelling it, in a bit walk out and remark "I think my black water tank is leaking!", and see how quick they leave.

First of all, I myself have to go back to Utah. My heart doctor is there, and needs to see me. I'm new to this lifestyle, but as a fan of yours, if I end up camping near you,I will move. As I learn more I will also try to find a spot away from people.

Carolyn I'm permanently on a campsite in Cyprus and last year not only did someone camp right next to me but while I was away they tied a sail shade to my awning and their father was asleep in the awning. No security on site therefore no one to get them to move. I was so cross.

  • @scrappersdream
    @scrappersdream Před rokem +1

Absolutely they should not have parked there. Especially if there are sites open. You should always be aware of where others campers are facing. If I saw your front door and I would be blocking your view, no way I would have parked there even for a short time.

It's hard to understand what people are thinking when they park so close. One time in Oregon State Park in N. Carolina, on a very, very windy day, I was the only person in the park when some people in a van camped right next to me AND put their portable generator outside between our rigs. I moved to another campsite which turned out to have near total protection from the wind, so in the end I was okay.

I would have moved but it was the end of the day and my solar panels and starlink and chairs were out. And I paid for the night, I wasn't about to move down the road where they should have parked, I would have left the park and lost my money.

I've experienced this as well. I choose to be out in nature and don't want strangers lurking.

No. NEVER. But I used to say that I attracted these kind of people like a magnet. I cannot even tell you the number of times someone rolled in in the dark and parked literally feet from my bedroom. So frustrating.

Carolyn, some people, seemingly more every day are oblivious to the concept of Common Courtesy. Truly I am done with the vast majority of idiots out there across America, why, well because the concept of being thoughtful is a lost art. Take Care Carolyn, and I hope you have a wonderfult trip! PS, damn is Sadie really, really smart & cute or what!

Hey girl Google the I 95 collapse northbound in philly. I don't know if you're going that way but the road's gonna be closed for months. There was a vehicle fire literally caused the bridge to collapse Sunday the 11th at 6:20 AM.

While it is not quite the same thing, we have noticed that people for some reason are really attracted to park right next to our plain old vehicle even when we are in a huge nearly empty lot! They seem to be oblivious that many of us feel uncomfortable when people choose to park so close to us when they could literally park anywhere else
