  • Have you been diagnosed with post-infectious IBS using an anti-vinculin antibody test? Or perhaps you think this might be what happened to you because you were never the same after food poisoning. In either case, this is the video for you! Today we're talkin' all about PI-IBS... From mechanism to treatment and everything in between!

My sibo actually started resolving once I started fixing my motility so I agree entirely with the way you look at sibo. Before my food intolerances were very extreme, now they're moderate to minimal.

unfortunately for me, when I got food poisoning way back around 1988 my body refused to purge. I couldn't throw up or clear my GI tract. I think this is why I got SIBO and still have it. My friend who also got food poisoning (we had shared a meal) threw up and threw up and so she recovered just fine.

Im far from healed from my debilitating posti-infectious IBS-D, but I've noticed short term help from ginger, artichoke, HCL, and digestive enzymes before meals. I can eat so much more with less stomach pain when I take those 4 supplements. Hoping I wont have to take them for life, but we'll see.

4.5 years since I got very sick with SIBO that was brought on by a second bout of food poisoning in the year leadning up, tested with anti-vinculin positive. Much much better over time and pro-kinetics - mega ginger extract and an ongoing small dosage of HCL help keep things steady.

Serious question. Can this also happen after vaccines? My life has been hell for the last 7 months after I got my third shot of the HPV vaccine. Apparently it's not an uncommon side effect and I've heard someone said that the vaccine killed all their bifidobacteria and got the same symptoms as me.
My symptoms are the same of Post Viral Fatigue/Long COVID; brain fog, blurred vision, fatigue, joint pain, fasciculations, anxiety, panic attacks, food intolerances and more that I am sure I am forgetting.
I would like to hear your insight about this.
    Thanks.
Edit: I also have malabsorption and yellow stools. When all of this started I had diarrhea at first, then extreme constipation that lasted like 5 days and wasn't responsive to laxatives nor prokinetics, literally no bowel movement.
Now only the yellow stools and malabsorption remain and I fear it's Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency which I also didn't had before.

I have severe IBS-d, my functional GI said it was PI-IBS, due to previous infections, diverticular disease etc. I did the smart test and it was negative for both antibodies. My GI said it was not a trustworthy test, and neither was SIBO testing. She said once nerves are damaged in infections the gut never works well again. She want me to try TCA's which imho have a tone of side effects.

An N-of-one here: Pyridoxine is not a real vitamin and there is research strongly suggesting that this B-6 vitamin analogue and precursor will compete with actual B-6 causing lots of problems consistent with frank B-6 deficiency including oxalate sensitivity.

@@BT_life2 Sure, here is one I found from the end notes of a book I read. It demonstrates a mechanism for causing B-6 deficiency from the vitamer pyridoxine which simultaneously is an active vitamin precursor and vitamin analogue that competes for the same space as active vitamin B-6:
