    Soulbound does already have a supplement talking about Har Kuron and how it has changed, a 7th chapter to the campaign set in Anvilgard. You can find it in the full release book for the campaign.
    It details how the events went down in more details, and how the DoK are handling the city, basically imagine a mostly destroyed (because not enough hands to rebuild) city occupied by invaders that often take tolls in the remaining population for their slaves and blood sacrifice, and where showing alliegance to any other god is not forbidden but will likely put you on the list for the next sacrifices.
    So honestly after the events of Arena of Shades I think you're right in speculating that har kuron is less of an actual city than fortified temples and arenas, now that the civilians have really dwindled.

      @veermudambi5795 Před 2 lety +3

      Dang. Not surprised the DoK overall aren’t great administrators but I expected a little better of Morathi since she’s made it her new base of operations. She’s cunning and manipulative so you’d think she’d realize Har Kuron is not as useful to her as it could be if it’s just a blood stained ruin.

      @@veermudambi5795 Well it's mostly that she hasn't had the time to make a lot of people from Ulgu settle down to replace the casualties of war. That's something I like with AoS is that distances matter quite a bit more than in 40k

    • @adambielen8996
      @adambielen8996 Před 2 lety +1

      @@veermudambi5795 Nah, she basically outright slaughtered or sold off the majority of the population. AoS has made it very clear that Morathi is both super racist and sexist. Now that she is a god it has also been made clear she has no intention of holding those aspects back.

    • @adambielen8996
      @adambielen8996 Před 2 lety +5

      @@oscarpoullard9920 DoK don't really have a lot of civilians. She just does not have the people to rebuild a CoS metropolis after she guts it. That is coupled with the fact that both she and Misthavn are preparing for outright war with each other.

    • @gwell2118
      @gwell2118 Před 2 lety +5

      @@veermudambi5795 Yeah its a combination of the DOK not having the numbers to really repopulate the city and a general lack of interest in really rebuilding much of the city. Coupled with many of the original population either being dead, hiding in underground ghettos or having joined resistance movements the city is a shadow of its former self. Morathi herself also doesn't even really like the city (it was never really that spectacular to begin with). And was more wanted to give her empire a legitimate capital but it showed that the DOK really aren't particularly skilled in actual empire building as there only real concern is combat and sacrifice with not a lot of interest in infrastructure. Thus leading the city to (as described) basically just turning into a giant combat arena. Plus also giving a hint why they need allies, as despite their combat prowess the DOK are not incredibly numerous, they don't have the numbers to really go off on their own.

    I love how they're tying so many different things together in the aos setting. If only nagash wasn't so demanding that every soul goes to him. He could have had some of the plan be to kill a couple of the storm casts in captivity so that they'd get back to sigmar, and cause Morathi even more trouble.

    Love the lore with anything to do with nagash or morathi, thanks for the vid 😀. I got some boxes comming and can't wait to play out the scenarios! But what I am praying for in the new DoK battletome is more little bits of lore that point towards the return of malekith something I really can't wait to see

    Great lore video, thanks for this! Absolutely love seeing Anvilgard/Har Kuron featured again. The city has quite the characteristics full of storytelling potential. Good to see some characterization for Nighthaunt characters as well. I wonder though if the new Scriptor Mortis' ability which "dooms" enemies is featured in the narrative at any point? Such a niche, yet very cool ability. As for the DoK, they don't seem to have anyone of narrative significance apart from Morathi, so it's nice to see some new characters there as well. Did the new high gladiatrix have any story hooks that could pop up in the future at some point?

    Hey Doug, just saw a really interesting lore blurb in my Stormcast Battletome that might make an interesting vid. Pg 23 of the Stormcast battletome. The story titled The Black Star...I have read this whole book like 4 times and just noticed this story tonight. Lol. Really cool random stuff and possibly deep lore.
    Another great one is At Any Cost. Demons, orruks, and stormcast.

    From a narrative standpoint: what was speaking against sending Arkhan? Isn't his defining feature his loyality to Nagash?

    I was considering starting Nighthaunt (the original rumours about this boxed set from a while back is what got me into it) but I found that collecting them is in an awkward spot. A few important characters aren't available from GW currently and apparently the Soul Wars boxed set jumped up in secondary market value as soon as Dominion came out. I may go back to them (as if I don't have enough to paint as it is) but probably won't bother with this box. It doesn't contain any of the units I was really looking into.

    Im grabbing the box since I need everything in it for Warcry. It makes a semi decent warcry starter, and there is only a few things that arent necessary. The lack of warcry rules for the 2 new characters is limiting, but I'm sure they will release something for them soon, and if not, theyll make excellent counts as characters. It would be awesome if they made a warcry campaign for this like they did for dominion/morruk hills. I could see their sales boosting a bit with such an inclusion. I have always bought non-warcry products when they give a nod to warcry in these sorts of releases. The Depths of Sylontum was great. Hopefully the crossboos will be awesome in warcry. Not holding my breath. lol
