12 year old Catcher celebrates a strikeout and a win... is ejected!

- In the sixth (and last) inning of a USSSA 12U Major Super NIT pool game, the Bomberz are mounting a rally against the Titans and have runners on second and third with one out when a new pitcher is called on to relieve and take over on the mound to stop the rally. The relief pitcher quickly shuts down the Bomberz, striking out both batters he faces, and the Titans win the game 8-3. However, following the third strike that ends the game and without any previous incidents, or any warnings, the ump ejected the catcher for what he claimed was "unsportsmanlike conduct." Two Titan coaches were then thrown out of the game after expressing their bewilderment of the ejection to the ump when he would not (or could not) tell them what specifically the kid did or said that was unsportsmanlike. The kid stands there silent, baffled by what just happened to him. Since this game had just ended, the people ejected by the ump could not participate in the tournament's next game the following day. Later the tournament director (who had been watching the game and heard no swearing by the catcher nor saw anything close to being interpreted as unsportsmanlike), after consulting with the umpires and the other team's coaches, reinstated the catcher. But he didn't reinstate the kid's coaches, and the team still had the disadvantage of playing their next game of the tournament without either their manager or first base coach. This is an otherwise excellent umpire, but bad blood between him and the kid's coach had been brewing long before this tournament... and the ump simply misinterpreted what he thought he saw and heard here, and over-reacted before he processed it all.
For those saying the catcher deserved being tossed, batting earlier in the same game, he drove in a run with a shot through the gap and to the wall, but was called out on a bang-bang play at home. No theatrics. No whining. No complaining to the ump. The ump calls him out, the kid accepts the call, gets up, puts on his gear, and goes back out to work behind the plate. Not exactly the sign of what some commenters here say is a "cocky" kid who "mouths off" to the ump and "needs to be taught sportsmanship..." Check it out and see for yourself here: • Out at the Plate... No...
(SloMo version of the tag is here: • Out at the Plate - No ... )
Then check out the video of the Titan relief pitcher, out on a called third strike when he batted earlier in the top of the same inning. Tight pitch on the inside corner. Call could have gone either way. • Walkman Strikes Out...
This game was played at Big League Dreams in Manteca, California (near Stockton in the central San Joaquin Valley) on a field that replicates Chicago Cub's Wrigley Field. The entire infield, including the infield "dirt," plus the foul areas from in front of the dugouts to the backstop areas behind the plate, is artificial turf, the same turf as installed in the stadiums where MLB teams Toronto Blue Jays and Tampa Bay Rays play, as well as many NFL and college football stadiums. The patches you see around home plate are just that, patches where the turf has worn out and has been replaced. The outfields beyond the infield dirt and their foul areas are natural grass or dirt. The spectators seen in the outfield bleachers are photos of real people, local citizens who have donated support to the Parks and Recreation Dept of the town of Manteca, co-partner with the private company that designed, operates, and manages the town-built facility. There are several other Big League Dreams facilities throughout the country.

Highly disturbing
Some kids are pretty annoying tho
Yeah he's a 12 year old catcher being happy that his pitcher struck someone out to win a game.
+Wyatt Riley not surprised i officiated 2nd graders in basketball, its coed and also there are certain rules like guard the same wrist bands and we try to have everyone in the league score at least once so we stop a game in the middle of it and let a little girl who has never scored shoot a free throw to get her first point and the stuff that comes out of some parents mouth while doing it is disgusting, plus we dont even keep score at all to
I love the dad telling the adults who are cheering for the kid getting thrown out to “grow up.” He’s absolutely right.
This ump was probably a great hall monitor in middle school.
And now he's a TSA agent at the airport.
The worst part of this video is when the parents clap because the kid is ejected. No class
Random Dude they are clapping sarcastically
Wes Moore No they're not, they are being birches
Random Dude how do you know he wasn't talking shit or there wasn't something else before the video started?
Wes Moore how is that a sarcastic clap... lmao
What if they were clapping because the game was over
class act of an umpire...tossing a kid and amateur coaches. I hope this joke of an ump never umpires again
The little brat yelled shut up to the crowd and was trash talking all game.
+dannyhuskerjay Danny! Danny! Danny! Were you at this game? Do you personally know this catcher? If so you wouldn't have heard any trash coming from him... and you have no right whatsoever calling him a "little brat." I have no connection to the catcher other than my son had been playing on the same team with him when this took place almost four years ago, so I have nothing to gain by defending the kid or by misrepresenting what happened. If you know the catcher, you would also know "little brat" is the most inaccurate description of him anyone could ever come up with. Watch the two videos of him again and tell us exactly each instance where you think he's trash talking. You can't because there are none.
The Tournament Director was right there in the stands and witnessed everything... the kid neither said nor did anything unsportsmanlike at all. The game was full of tension, not among the players, but among a couple of the coaches and a handful of fans in the stands, with the umpire and the catcher caught in the middle. And in the commotion following the last strike, the umpire simply misinterpreted what he thought he saw or heard from the catcher. Immediately, the Tournament Director, the umpires and the coaches all met and the umpire realized he had made a mistake and the kid's ejection was overturned. So unless you were there watching this game, or personally know this kid and his family, I suggest you craft your comments more carefully next time.
+dannyhuskerjay He did what all catchers are supposed to do. Show the ump the ball so he knows it wasn't dropped/missed. So the ump can call it a strike. I saw nothing wrong with his behavior...
+Noah Roller Well, maybe I'm retarded and dead. He may have said shut up at some point during the game, but he didn't say anything during that 3:15 of video. I just watched the whole thing 3 times AGAIN with my kids to make sure I'm not missing anything, and I'm not. We did hear the phrase, "Shut up" said from one person in the crowd though. But that catcher said nothing during this video.
If you feel I've made an error, please reply with the exact time during the video that you heard HIM say "Shut up" please.
And... I'm not sure how my opinion as a long time player and umpire prompted such a hateful, ugly response from you. But I love you anyway!
+Noah Roller Apparently you can't read Gret's description either and hear things that the rest of us don't.
Funny how you seem to know more then the uploader of the video.

Complete abuse of power from the umpires, they should not be aloud to umpire
The opposing team’s parents were cheering when the catcher was ejected. Just let that sink in… 30-40 year old entitled brats excited to see a 12 year get ejected just because their own team lost with one even saying, “you deserve it”. How despicable
SOME of them did. It is troubling they did that to someone's kid, but the description does not add up. Think about it, people especially parents do not say to a kid, shut up, get out, and say he deserved it for no reason. His disconduct behavior might have been subtle, but most likely they would not have done it without any indication of provocation. Again, I am not condoning anything, just throwing out possible explanations.
@@brandoncolis3841 I played very competitive softball, and I can tell you that parents of opposing teams would most DEFINITELY say a kid deserved to be ejected just because they lost. Heck, when one of our players was injured one time, the opposing parents laughed and cheered about it before the umps did anything. Parents are, unfortunately, going to say things to kids in these situations, whether you think so or not.
@@kaylastone9991 Adults can be repulsively competitive, but I do not believe they do things without reason. I am having much difficulty picturing grownups laughing and cheering at an injured kid who probably did nothing at all, maybe it was for some entirely different reason, and saying harsh things towards a kid who many here are saying did nothing. Sure, they were out of line, as was the umpire, but the kid was probably too, if not at that moment probably throughout. The description is one sided and does not say enough to provide accuracy.
Kids sports are great until the parents get involved.
We all need to hear exactly what the kid said to the umpire right at the end if the game. Otherwise, this is all out of context. Its almost like the uploader did that on purpose...
The parents in the crowd cheering for the ejection of a kid is so gross

That catcher did nothing that any other catcher would do after a strike-out ending the game and he never should've been ejected. Obviously, the ump was looking for any excuse to hurt the catcher's team and he found one in an insignificant action of the catcher. The bad sportsman was the ump, not the catcher or the coaches.
That lady literally heard the phrase, “straighten it out” once in her life and now says it anytime a batter makes contact with ball that ends up foul.

Those parents were actualy cheering that he got ejected thats ridiculous
What's more pathetic? The ump or the fans cheering a 12 year old getting thrown out of a game?
Exactly. I mean even the kid batting. I'm sure he doesn't feel any pressure from the adults behind him yelling to straighten it out. He knows where the ball is supposed to be hit, I don't think he needs reminding after every swing.
I mean would you rather 12 year old you had your parents scream profanities at you (and the other team) when you messed instead of encourage you? Or just sat on their phones? Those are two pretty close opposites and I can't imagine anyone wanting either really. I think it would be a pretty nice thing hearing your parents and family friends backing you up after a bullshit call.
Those aren't parents cheering for their own kid. They're parents of kids on the other team cheering because a 12 year old kid got ejected.
Cameron Rudderham That's even worse. Shows the parents are taking the game more seriously than the kids are. As is the same with most sports.

It would appear as though the catcher did a hand gesture to the umpire. No offense here but it happened really fast I didn't see it. That would be my guess 🤔

I find it disgusting how the parents were cheering when the kid got ejected. Like he’s just a freaking kid.
If you watch carefully right after the final strike, as the catcher stands up, he very, very briefly turns to look back at the ump and points at him with the ball, and I suspect he said something disrespectful there. I find it very difficult to believe the ump would run him simply for cheering their victory; the ump must surely at least have THOUGHT the kid said or did something disrespectful.
the catcher was showing him the ball to show he had possession of it. this is important because if there had been a foul tip, but the ball was still caught, then the strikeout would stand. also, the batter could run to first on a third strike that was dropped, and keep the game alive. in my opinion, this ump had a boner for the catcher's team and this was his last chance to stick it to them, even as the game was over. then he went right over to the coaches and kept it going. if the ump was really legit, he would not have gone over to provoke the coaches. this ump wanted to toss everyone and it really showed. he's an embarrassment.
This is a result of giving "Little Men" power. This ump should never umpire another game anywhere at any time!
The fact that parents cheered that a 12 year old got ejected was sad

The umpire was far and away out of line.
The catcher showed the umpire the third strike ball ending the game, and ran to congratulate his pitcher.
This only adds to my belief that most people aren't capable of handling the responsibility of being put in a position of authority.
That guy doesn't need to be umpiring games. If he has a feud with a coach as stated in the description, then there is an issue. No way that kid did anything wrong. It was like the umpire was looking for a reason to kick him out. The director of that tournament should have kicked the ump out too if the coaches were out for the next game. All they did was ask the ump why he threw the kid out of the game which the umpire didn't have a good reason so instead of admitting he was wrong, he doubled down and threw the coaches out also. All after the game was already over. What a moron!

This kid is a ballplayer! I'm a subscriber to this channel and have watched this kid's progress here on youtube for the last 6 years. Based on gret huskys other videos, it looks like his kid played for the Seattle Mariners scout team. Seems he ended up with a scholarship to play for San Jose State. I'm enjoying following this kid's baseball journey!
I think I will subrscibe as well and watch these videos and when the players go pro it would be so cool to go out and meet them and talk about how you watched them grow. More you than I, but all the same it would be an incredible thing to think about. Lately I have been really been getting excited while watching baseball and only have been able to pitch a couple of times to some people I know (who don't like to go out). Sadly I don't really have anyone to play any sports with so that is a bummer, but I look forward to watching more of these videos. OHH MY I just realized that this uploaded in 2012, I may have a bit of catching up to do :) Best of wishes
MrDTekisOnline, yeah he's pretty amazing. I hope he gets a good scholarship for it. When I was 11 I was an amazing pitcher myself. Even pitched a "no hitter" on my 6th game.
Wow! Any tips you can give for someone who is trying to get better
MrDTekisOnline, well I use to practice with my grand dad. But when he wasn't around I use to hang my glove on my fence, where the strike zone would be. Then just keep trying to hit it over and over again lol. I had like 50 balls in a bucket so I didn't have to chase after the ball every time I threw it lol. Over time accuracy and speed improves tremendously.
I grew up and was a catcher. I always talked to the umpire and knew where my limits were. This kid seemed like nothing out of the ordinary happened. Sometimes umpires have a bur up their butt and have a bad day.
Many people are mentioning a point to the ump: that's very obviously just him taking the ball out of hand. catcher has to do it *every single pitch* that he catches. Every single time. Also, the voices are quite audible...so just listen and tell me if he says anything to the ump.
The ball is in his glove after every pitch not his hand and he had no ball in his hand 0:56 look what the ball in his hand looks like he had no ball

It was sick to hear the parents cheering at the kids ejection, but its also telling. The description was bias, there was clearly something going on and whatever that catcher did/said before the ejection was the last straw.
@@Sean-uh6te Well put. It was disgusting for the opposing parents to do that, but something must have led up to that to receive that type of reaction. The game was over right. If the game is over, why would it matter what the catcher do. The umpire was in the wrong.
I have umpired for over 31 years at every level, and I have seen SO MUCH, but I fail to see ANYTHING that would constitute an ejection. If there is a lingering feud between coaches and umpire, then the umpire should be a professional and wipe the slate clean or recuse himself from that game. Officials should be as invisible as possible.
Shame.
The other obstacle to youth sports is parents. Stay home or be quiet. The only sounds you should make are cheering and clapping. Moms and Dads who act as though their prodigy is destined for stardom are a HUGE problem. I have heard barbs from some mothers that would shock most. Kids are a product of their environment, and parents tend to create a tense and inhospitable ambiance for young athletes.
You don’t see the kid point at the ump and say something? This is why the ump got upset. I’d like to know what the kid said. If petty or trying to be an adult, let it be. Unless the catcher was being undisciplined the entire game and ump warned the kid to watch his mouth, kid didn’t. There’s more to the story than this video to judge either person.
I do agree with the parental problems. In the 90s I played and few parents showcased problems. Seems it grew bigger and they’re getting worse. I wouldn’t want to ref any game because of these pretentious aholes who think they’re the center of existence.

He should have been ignored.....his work was done there.
As a Little League assistant coach for two sons, what I saw was bewildering. Granted, I couldn’t hear if the catcher said something that broke the honor of sportsmanship, but his actions alone were nothing near worthy of ejection. Unless the catcher was taunting the batter and/or badmouthing the umpire, the ump is off his meds.

Youth sport parents ruin everything and their solution to every problem is to whine about "kids these days". Of course they want to play video games all the time, that's the only thing they can do without their parents looking over their shoulder and bitching. God forbid the parents get interested in video games also, they'll be forming $5k/yr traveling video game teams so their 10 year olds can face "the elite competition they deserve".

If only josh had straightened it out.
😂😂
😂
There should be a way to penalize the Ump during a game by ejecting him
Terrible sportsmanship by the parents
Absolutely!!! It blows my mind that some of these parents talk to kids on the field like that!
@@LaElenaCrochetAbsolutely the kind of parents who peaked in middle school.
Im so stoned thought that was an actual crowd in the back! Wtf?
Me too....me too
Yeah its at big league dreams we have one in Mansfield Texas also they're really nice baseball fields made to look like mlb fields
It's not a real crowned!
+Vortex_PlayZ _ i yhought this was liitle leaigr chamoionshup thats y i thiught crows was real XD
Thank you lol I was thinking same I commented on it
I can’t go to my girlfriend’s kid’s games because of the atmosphere those crazy parents create. It’s bonkers how oblivious they are to how they act.
fr lmao, “GO GO GOOOOOO” at the top of their lungs like it’s gonna make a difference,
Never missed one of my son's games from t-ball to senior year.. no matter what field, I always sat in the right field corner far away from the "travel ball" mom's and dad's.. only way to enjoy the game
@@joshseaver4598 respect bro good dad
@@h0m1ess facts
Ump simply wanted to put this team at a disadvantage for their next game. Should be investigated and possibly suspended/fired.
If the the call on the catcher is bad and unfair, then the reaction to it is warranted. Neither the catcher or the coaches should have been punished.
...as usual these days, it's about control and retaliation.
Don’t be mad at the Ump... be mad at CZcams for suggesting a video from 2012.
Several adults cheering after the kid’s ejection tells me all I need to know.
It was because they won the game and they were just trying to cheer their kids up. Good parents.
@@pengoo6048 are you ok..?
They are just disgusting.
The adults you speak of need to grow up. If this kid hasn't acted up all game not sure why they're running there mouths?
@@pengoo6048That’s not how you cheer your kids up. Kids need to learn to take a loss, it’s a part of life. Don’t be so petty as to throw other kids under the bus to make your kid feel better.
Perfect example of the proliferation of the "everyone gets a trophy" policy and not allowed to celebrate a win.
I am waiting to the an ump thrown out for unsportsmanlike behavior like this.
Then the parents applauding a 12 yer old child is ejected? How low can you get?
