Installing 2022 Sigma 5 Shifter on MQ250 Transmission for Mk5/6/7

Jim gives the details on installing the newest version of Sigma 5 shifter for the Mk5, Mk6, and Mk7 five speed cars. This shifter also works on non-GLI Jetta from 2019 onwards that has the six speed version of this transmission.

Generally problems with gear engagement come down to poor alignment or slop in the linkage preventing a good adjustment. The alignment procedre is covered in the install video on our webstore.
You can double check the critical side to side cable adjustment by performing the elevator test shown here: czcams.com/video/fCJSsj9JKLc/video.html
Here Jim goes over all the usual slop suspects: czcams.com/video/7HBE5vycg-4/video.html If you find slop, particuarly in the side to side cable adjustment, address it with our replacement bushings and realign the shifter.

I have ordered one for a 2004 a3 8p1 1.9tdi, would this fit my car or should I go for the mk4 one?
