Just installed the Gen 3 on my 2023 GTI. Had your Gen 2 on my 2019 GTI. Just wanted to say that your product is top notch and the Gen 3 feels even better than the previous. Had no problems both times with the shifter adjustment using your supplied pin also.

Reverse and first is really difficult to get into what did I do wrong

What I have to do number 6 hard and reverse also
Difficulty getting into gears at the extremes of the side to side motion is either corrosion in the tube or slop in the cabin shifter
What is the other hole for
a different transmission
If you use it on a 6 speed the front to back throw will be too short
