I see why black people that go to hbcus are so confident....it just seems like going to a school in white spaces can low key make you question your self.
This can be the case. The opposite can also be true. I know being in mostly white spaces since I was a kid -- but also with strong ties to black communities on multiple continents -- gave me confidence. A lot of (black) people who don't experience white people til later give them too much credit. I saw them, and all their warts, from very early on.
Sometimes...
Rahiem Fulton really tho.
@Goal Digger they are doing better actually. Most high level blacks went to an HBCU
@Goal Digger he's correct most successful black people went to HBCUs
LMAO HE TOOK THE TEXTBOOK 😂😂😂 IM WEAK
He was hilarious!
Can we have another black at ivy league where all the questions are questions from the comment section?
Good suggestion!
Yeah, this would be great!
I'm asian, and I didn't think I'd take so much out of this video as I did. I never realized how many problems we still have on college campuses, so this was super insightful and helpful. Thank you guys for speaking out
Totally agree.
SMH why do you care
corey thomas because if she doesn't then videos like this will keep needing to be made. She just gained understanding and you dare penalize her for it. Which says you're def not part of the fight that the rest of the black people have. You're one of the ones that's just here to stay mad lol just because the video is about and for the black people to get more insight... don't you think it's good it reached others? Don't you get tired of others denying these issues? The reason they continue is because idiots like you ask... "WELL WHY YOU CARE?" Because a human should smh
@@coreythomas3633 alright so just going off of your logic lets stop spreading news and insight about these topics to people who aren't black; and aren't aware of certain situations. nah man, can't work that way. do you want her to not care? Come on
@@coreythomas3633 It's important to learn about the experiences of other communities so that we can make the world better for everyone
“ they made it seem like James Baldwin was my dad.” Goddamn I laughed so hard.
Also is it just me or the Ivy League seems like a place I don’t want to be; however, still work really hard to try and get accepted. I’m facing a conflict lol.
Go where you feel comfortable and confident. Put the effort into figuring out which one that is. Yes ivys are great but let’s not kid ourselves anymore. Looking good on paper is overrated
That's not an uncommon feeling, I sure many on this panel struggled with the same conflict. Yet, don't kid yourself, there's definitely going to be a some negative to wherever you go.
LMFAOO that cracked me up
I graduated from Howard and I remember one semester a student was an exchange from Brown it would be cool if you had a panel of guests who had both HBCU and Ivy experience...
Wow a black platform where it's not just black men and women arguing over who's worse than the other! I love it!
Your channel is so well done and must be a lot of work! Thank you for everything you put out!

Totally agree. Excellent questions.
the fact that two of them are studying neuroscience is so inspiring .. i’ve wanted to be a neurosurgeon since i was in the 5th grade and i’ll be a senior in hs this fall. i dread the thought of me being the only black neuroscience major in school (since pwi’s have the top program and only 2 hbcu’s even offer it) or only black neurosurgeon in the hospital, but this gave me hope. we might be rare, but we’re out here.
It’s so funny how you’re scared to be the token black… like that’s as far as you’ll ever experience “raysismmm”
I stand with you ALL! This was insightful for me as a NBPOC and I will continue to try and fight for you guys and the black community. I'm 17 and went to my first protest ever today🤗

@Chelsea Love she's not white...
I'm from LSU. I can definitely attest to the "black dormitory" and being overlooked in a group assignment. In Geology I would always know the answer and they would IGNORE me or say, "I don't think that's it" in the most polite way and go all around the world to figure out the answer just to come up with my answer EVERY TIME.
Could not handle that a black person had the right answer before them, several times...stay strong in Jesus Name...
Why the LSU campus so damn big? 😂😂 I took a student for a campus visit there and I let him roam by himself cuz I was tired of walking LOL Made the school I graduated from look like a small school
@@inokerogoyawa It is big, but It seems smaller now that I know the campus. Crazy thing is, they are STILL expanding.
Hey I’m applying there! I’d love to hear more about the diversity and inclusivity if you’re open to sharing
This happened to me at an art workshop where I was the ONLY black person. The instructor ignored my answers in spite of them being correct, the assistant helped the yt kids but left me on my own, and the yt kids' voice were more valued than mine.
I can't believe we as a people are going through this in 2020...So proud of these young people. our ancestors are smiling down on you.
I just have to say the woman in the middle has STUNNING hair! 😍
I really like that you're taking this time to post videos addressing BLM and the experiences of African American students. Props to you & love your channel!
Eh
I knew Nigerians will be on the list, Proud of my people!

yuppp 🇳🇬🇳🇬.
Nigerians stand strong! 🇳🇬 🙌🏿
Y’all think you’re better than everyone it’s so funny.
I am feeling this spiritually! I went to Dartmouth and I was always called this other Nigerian girls name, without fail!
all the girl's hair are on point!!
Being a black female programmer, welp yeah its lonely in these parts, regardless of the college
Stay strong.
I go to NCAT. We have A LOT of black female programmers.
True, is just not a field many blacks consider beyond a talking point
I love it. I never had a college experience like I wanted to. I went to a Southern private Christian school that was racist my first two years then I transferred to a community college, then went to a public college, then worked for Disney to complete my internship, then went back to the public college. I'm still looking for that sense of community to this day even after graduating. So praying for you guys and hope you have a great college experience
If you don’t mind me asking what private Christian school did you go to?
@@inokerogoyawa Liberty University
@@jathanblake , in what ways was it racist?
@@jm-je4tl microagressions i.e. stereotypes placed on me/others, some white guys on my hall didn't want talk to me because I was black, and the president posting black face and KKK pics on Twitter not caring about how his black students felt.
@@jathanblake thanks for the warning, I was actually considering going there!
Phenomenal!
these young people are extraordinary .
You rarely hear about our astonishing young folks.
We have a massive amount of remarkable young people.
But they are over shadow by negative stereotypes which receives most media attention.
It is the narrative.
I like how you arrange the guests (by gender) always symmetrically and form different patterns
Just starting and the intro is everythingggggg haha.
This is SO off topic. But y’all are some *good-looking* folks. Such gorgeous women and handsome men.
I really want to know everything, including the eating clubs at Princeton. The experiences people don't talk about, partying with wealthy students...
Powerful! Thank you for doing as this is so needed!
I love this so much! I’m black entering Princeton as class of 2024 and these videos are so enlightening and are definitely reassuring to know that there are others who have already experienced what I may this upcoming fall.
How is it going?

this is great! thank you for this!!! love you girl!
I love this week's conversation and guest !!!
This series is very enlightening. Please continue to educate us.
your content is always so well-done and eye-opening.
This was really well done 👏🏾👏🏾
I just graduated from Tufts but I can relate heavily to a lot that was said here. Really enjoyed this video and made me reflect on my past 4 years!
these were such good questions! great video!
Such an important conversation! Please keep up the great work!
This is a really great video, thank you and thanks to all the students interviewed for making this collaboratively!
i think this idea is super dope and creative and that a lot of people need to watch this. All love!
This content is amazing, thank you for sharing ❤️
I loved this video! I’m a rising senior trying to make a decision about where to apply early to, and after hearing about the incident at Yale where a black student had the police called on them for taking a nap in their common room, I’ve been worried about this very issue. Thank you so much for the video!
This has been one of my favorite youtube series during quarantine. Super helpful, and I love it
One of my favorite podcast/interviews I’ve ever seen!!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Great discussion. Excellent job with facilitation. Thank you for creating and sharing this.
This was great! Maybe you could do a series with HBCUs or the divine nine?
I love this, I' m a forty year old, no kids but have many young cousins. I 'm glad you guys are sharing your experience with younger folks to show its not all gravy once you graduate high school and go to college. I'm so proud of you young bucks and I wish you all the best.
this was SO beautiful! Thank you so much for opening up and being so vulnerable with us!!! love you all! xoxoxo
This was such a refreshing video to watch, I love this space 👌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
i really loved this video and hearing all the different perspectives !
Thank you for this Domonique. It so nice to be able to see students talking about some of the things I'm scared of as an African International hopeful. I'd love to see a kickback episode with international students x
Nice conversation...and congrats to you all!! God speed in your studies and careers!
Yes.. lol microaggressive behavior always seems like a question as a black student. We start to develop a double consciousness about how others view us or how we’re being treated at the moment.
thank you so much for these videos - they are so eye-opening and interesting! please do an international student edition!!!!!!
I graduaded 11 years ago from the University of Sherbrooke in Canada, but what these young brothers and sisters are talking about was my campus life. I enjoyed the convo!
This was a really great and insightful video! I definitely gained a better perspective of different things that many Black students experience in Ivy league schools. Looking forward to more videos!
thank you so much for this video!! As a black girl, I was wondering what it would be like at an ivy league. Love the representation!!!
Great conversation 👏
I experienced these same issues in high school, which is why I chose a HBCU for undergrad.
I appreciate that you guys are actually talking and having a great conversation and it's not just a oh your friends with white people so therefore you are some how less apart of the black community or something stupid like that and I also like the fact that each and every one of you have remained calm and collected in presenting y'all arguments I feel like I have truly learned some things and you guys have given me something to seriously think about on a deeper level thank you all .
Ayee!! my question was featured, thank you #blm ✊🏾

Love your channel! Love your content! Thank you for having the conversation and continuing the dialogue! I’m gonna throw this out there as a idea for a topic: Older black students and how they possibly integrate in the black community on campus. Or if they integrate at all.
love the video very much needed keep up the good work!
I love the intro already. 💜
Loved watching this. I went to a women's college 50 years ago and the Black women were so cool. They would have nothing to do with us anglo/white students. They probably didn't feel like they missed out on anything, but I did. I was in college when we were demonstrating to end the Vietnam war, for women's rights, for racial equality. When I left college I thought things would get better. Maybe they did, but not enough and there is still so much farther the US needs to go. Glad all you students are finding a community to be comfortable in. I wish your professors were better!
thank you for posting this 💜
Keep putting out relevant information, this is much needed and making an importance difference.
You're not black. Quiet.

Hello and thank you!!! Love your channel
this was my favorite episode!
I love love love love the excellence in this video
I went to Brown for undergrad and my MPA and I think this is so important! Love your videos
As a black student who also attended a school that has a very small percentage of black people, I can totally relate to their culture shock experiences.
I think it definitely makes you feel isolated and you start to think that people are warier of you than they actually are. However, I think that it is good to mingle with others who aren't black and learn to embrace other cultures and perspectives. That really helped me navigate through the culture shock as one of the few black people in my classes.
I think when you learn to embrace others' cultures, it makes you more understanding of others' perspectives, even if you don't necessarily agree with them.
This was so good!
Great video! Very organized, great questions, and authentic dialogue.
I've always heard being black at an Ivy League school can be really taxing on you. But as suggested taking care of your mental health will be key!
This was very helpful ! Thank you 😊
If you are going to do another one of these, can u ask more questions about their interactions with Asians and others who aren’t white or black?
Love these videos!! In the future could you put their school’s logo in the corner of each speakers box? Just helpful to remember, if someone is not wearing their school swag, like you or the speaker who was just below you in the grid with the purple shirt!
this was super insightful even though its been a year. As a black person I love seeing black success and representation in a good light :)
beautiful video!
it would be really interesting if you could do this type of video but with asian students!! tysm for doing this series i feel like im learning sm about these colleges 🤍🤍
Great content and great show!
So much black excellence, I love it!
maybe next video you could do High school advice from the black ivy community and their Hugh school experience? btw these videos are so helpful!
Much love from Tufts University! Just stumbled onto this video and so many points hit home. We got a small but strong 4% at Tufts and still face a lot of the challenges y'all mentioned.
So tired of those damn Canada Goose jackets lmao
I wish I got into tufts but I was rejected I wanted to get in so bad.
Lemma Deray Keep trying!! And grad school is always an option!!
Could you please do this with black students from other majors as well? I love seeing this. Your channel is amazing
I graduated with a Master’s from McMaster University in Canada as a black Caribbean Male and the only one of my background in the program. Related to a lot of what was said here but it all works out in the end. We all gotta keep positive. One love all
Very informative‼
That was very insightful ! As nb person and as a non american I'm simultaneously very interested in the perspective of black student but also the way american schools work in general (here, 2000€/year is expensive for an university)
Also it always amaze me how Nigerians specifically are so good in studying! The education system must be intense
this was a great idea for a video!
Great video❤️
I've recently found this channel, and let me tell you I've never hit subscribe faster.
I cried watching this because I could see myself in all their stories.
I work at Microsoft and it's like 1% Black here. I'm the only black woman in my org too. Thankfully everyone has been supportive so I have yet to experience anything questionable.
great vid !
What’s up, Dom? Would you ever consider making some videos about top liberal arts colleges? Your content’s dope.
Hey, I don’t know if you’ve already done this, but it would be great If the proceeds from this video could be donated to a BLM organization. A lot of CZcamsrs have been doing this and I think it’s an easy way for people who can’t donate much money to these organizations can still participate in donations. Thanks and this video is too fire already and much appreciated 💕💕
