I’ve tried cooking dozens of different recipes to perfect the taste of a restaurant korma and whilst some have been really good, this is in my opinion is the best yet - and the easiest. No special ingredients, no nuts, no thick cream (except the coconut cream) and no chopping of onions! Forget my portfolio of tried and tested Korma recipes - this has now become my family favourite. I was originally going to cook a Kashmiri curry with added fresh fruit but did this curry and at the end just on a very gentle heat, added some fresh lychees and banana chunks - delicious. Thank you for your good, clear instructions and tips.

My first husband was from Glasgow and his family immigrated to the States when he was 16, He became a US citizen and stayed in the US, but his parents moved back to Glasgow when they retired. I had the opportunity to visit them on a trip to Scotland and they introduced me to Indian cuisine. I had Chicken Korma and I fell in love with it! After returning to the States I made it my mission to find Chicken Korma at various Indian restaurants here but none of them compared to what I had eaten in Glasgow. I can’t wait to make this and I am keeping my fingers crossed that my search is now over and I can have it anytime my heart desires! Thank you!

Just realised your the ajay from swadish so edited my comment to say hi and Awrighty ajay hope your good and family are good swadish is the best indian restaurant in the UK no cheet sauces as you see in my comment i like authentic food so your restaurantis always a choice lets get GBM 2025 in the bag it should have been yours enough said you still number 1. never made a takeaway style korma before i usually make either a south indian or a mughli korma i have always preferred authentic to takeaway food but my neighbour wants me to make them a korma they are used to takeaway so as you know bit of a taste difference so i will be making this recipe. The chicken is getting marrinaded soon, and watching this i just realised that takeaways are really a mix of both north and south north with the onion and south with the coconut anyway iam making your recipe plus i will be doing a taster dish of both mughli north indian/pakistani and south indian authentic dishes so i can educate them on authentic food.❤

This was is a great recipe! I cook several Indian dishes and was looking for a korma dish that was like a fast food chain in Canada called tandori

This was soooo good, came out just like a restaurant korma. Only thing I couldn't figure out is where to put the 1/2 tsp salt. I just put it with the sugar in the end.

Thank you for your compliments. I am glad that you enjoyed your Korma. You could add the salt at the very end of the cook-off.

I had a korma in London that was amazing but it had almonds (or maybe cashews) in it. I know it did because my son, who has a tree nut allergy) reacted to it. Is it uncommon to put nuts in korma?

I made this and it tastes just like the one we buy from our local restaurant. Very pleased, but we do love the restaurant experience as a treat. PS. I LOVE HIS ACCENT! This is what I love about the UK - Meghan Markle is such a liar! 😍💕👍🥰🇬🇧

Do you recommend leaving the chicken in the marinate overnight? I have never heard of things being overly marinated so I would guess it is ok?

If I was making a shrimp korma, would I also cost the shrimp in the yogurt/marinade?
Or simply season them for marinade, and add them at the very end, turn off heat, cover with lid, and steam.
This steaming/blanching method I do with gumbo as to not overcook the shrimp so I figure It might work here as well.
    Thanks.

You don't need to coat and marinate them. Rest you know well I can tell. Enjoy 🙂
