- Alright folks, we've decided to take a little dive into the world of anime... so, while we get ready to check out some anime, we're gonna start nice and slow. We figured this would be a nice blurring of worlds between anime and pop culture hero stuff, before we dive a little deeper with Dragon Ball stuff, and then eventually deeper into more culturally accurate anime.
This was a fun one, but also quite BRUTAL. What did you think of this JLD? Where do you think they go from here? As we get ready to react to anime, what would you recommend?

Darkseid is a prime example of a villain that legit doesn't play around. A lot of villains do long monologues or over-elaborate plans that lead to their downfall. But Darkseid just whooped ass left and right.
That's not about him or not, it's about what the studio writer and director want and are allowed..

Man even if everything didn't go tits up, seeing what happened to starfire and seeing her torn in half (one of my favourite heroines of all time) really messed me up for a while. Like they are all graphic but hers got me good. I looked and asked around and everyone else acts like it is just a cool death. It's hard being the only need in my house.
Except Justice League War but that's it.

I truly feel like Shazam didn’t die during his last battle. When he cried out “Shazam” I’m positive he used The Bolt of Living Lightning to kill all the Paradooms around him and then proceeded to teleport to the Rock of Eternity

The way Constantine gets all flustered after King Shark grins and winks at him is my favorite part of the entire movie.
(rough memory, so not all precisely accurate but people should get the general idea) What happened before that scene was that Constantine was a bit nervous because his ex was there. Someone comments that they're surprised Constantine would date Harley. Constantine looks at them and says, "date Harley, you're crazy for thinking that."
Then King Shark winks because King Shark was Constatine's ex.
Goddamn, I forgot how dark this movie is. That was such a melancholic victory. I was not prepared for how violent it got.

Like, after watching all the DCAU movies, you grow to love and appreciate all these characters, so watching them all perish, and then the story ends with a sad sunrise where everyone is mutilated and disfigured and the world is dying... Like, Goddamn DC!!! What a painful and hollow finale. At least Flasg resets everything. Imagine if it just all ended there? So tragic.

The war ended on apokolips, this was more like a revolution, they won but there’s nothing left to build on.
This is actually the close-out of DC's 52 series of animation. The Flashpoint effects begin with the new series starting with Superman: Man of Tomorrow. The Flash from here does finally show up in the 2nd movie, Justice Society: WWII.

I watched the movie first to know what parts you were reacting to and bruh it caught me off guard 😳 they ain’t lying with the word “Dark.” Now I want to see the other movies to get the whole timeline
This film is actually the finale of the current animated films. So it’s been building to this. But yeah, their animated films are VERY adult, obviously lol “Dark” just refers to the magical heroes of the Justice League. But yes, they really leaned into the “Dark” theme in this one😂😂
You're gonna have to start with Justice League War and then pretty much every other release by WB Animation is part of the same continuity, with the outliers being Elseworlds stories, like: Gotham by Gaslight, Batman Ninja, Batman vs The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, etc. You can kinda tell which ones are which by the voice cast and general story chosen. Jason O'Mara has been Batman in the continuity from War to Apokolips War and Jerry O'Connell is Superman and Jerry's real life wife, Rebecca Romijn, is Lois Lane.
No, this is just not Dark, this is also a JL movie. It's the finale of the entire new 52 animated story arc. You have to watch all the new 52 animated movies before watching this one including JL Dark.
I don't even think the ending was a cliffhanger, because we know what his goal is. I would have preferred Constantine doing some kind of memory recording spell to tell Superman what would happen and what can be done to stop it.

This was the end of the animated continuity that ran for like 9 yrs or so. They could do whatever they wanted, which they did.
Yeah, this film was darker than I had originally expected. It brought me WAY down and I watched the credits with my jaw dropped. like in pure silence, dumbfounded LOL.
I'd probably give it another shot, but I hope this isn't the end of this film series.

What a crazy movie. I was in shocked the entire time.
This is why I was a little worried when they did the Flashpoint movie. After every one, they can just have Barry go back and reset things.
not if they decided to kill flash.
Batman always expects the worst case scenario and prepares a back up or a contingency for it.
There's a new DC movie coming out about the Justice Society in World War 2, and Barry shows up randomly in the war and fights alongside the Justice Society, which makes me think he ran all the way back to create this new Flashpoint, and this is the beginning of the new reality he has gone into. Though it could just he Barry doing time shenanigans like usual, I believe it could really be the start of the new animated film series for DC.
This movie is the last in a series of films....interesting reaction nonetheless

Dis was absolutely insane through out tha whole animation movie.
One of the things I hated about how they did the heroes in the beginning is that Starfire is like a Superman there’s no way she should’ve been one of the first ones taken down from the titans considering her and Raven are the strongest on that team.
Well yeah I think we can all agree that Starfire is a powerhouse but against an army of Doomsday parademons? Plus she does have power for days but she's not quite as tough as Superman.

This movie is the perfect example of why Batman should be the one to make the plans and why superman should not be making any of the plans at all
Batman was in the room at the time, if he had a better plan I think he would have spoken up. He’s not exactly known for being subtle when he disagrees with anything Superman says or does.
My video experience:
1. Set new sound settings
2. Beginning of video was silent
3. Try increasing volume
4. Still no volume - hosts are clearly talking
5. Try changing settings on headphones
6. Volume kicks in as I touch the dial - Whatever I did must've worked
7. Hosts fix mic and address lack of audio
15 seconds in and I've already been on a roller coaster.
When I saw the movie and even now I don't blame constantine for fleeing. Sure he has power but when a far greater magician gets swarmed and fucking devoured can you blame the man for running? Nearly everybody there was brutally murdered with even superman getting his ass handed to him. Would you stay if you could leave?
Well he didn’t leave by choice. Zatanna made him leave with magic, which Batman orchestrated. Which is why Constantine says to Batman “we’re gonna have a little chat later”. So he’s definitely not to blame for leaving. But in the beginning when you don’t know that, it’s hard to not be angry at the cowardice of someone abandoning their lover as they’re being killed. I’d say most people think there’s more honor in dying beside your teammate/lover, despite the odds, than leaving them to die. Which is why he felt guilty and was mad at himself.

I loved how the war essentially ended in mutual destruction and Apokalips had to salvage every bit of resources to keep going.

Funny how when I watched this movie, I also didn't have a high opinion of Constantine since he run, but I also knew that it didn't fit his character as this is the same guy who literally plays Poker with demons, so the concept of his own death shouldn't have gotten that response from him.
But then we find out it was due to Batman and Zatanna that he run, because Bruce knew that if things go south, he was their best bet of winning another day. He was basically the Tony Stark of all this since he was the lynch pin of their entire counter-attack. Without him, they would have had no chance.
Edit: Also, great way to end the DC animted universe as this entire thing started with Flashpoint, fitting that it ended with another though you gotta feel for Barry as he knew his failed attempt to save his mother caused the creation of that new universe, but Constantine is also right if that just about any other option is better then their present.
King shark has always either not spoken at all, or he's spoke small comedic lines. Including "king shark is a shark" so him saying it In this is pretty normal.

I spent like a minute trying to figure out what was wrong with my phone in the beginning
Personally, it always sucked to me how much they lowered Shazam's power set. He's actually incredibly powerful, able to go toe to toe(and even beat) Superman. He's got the literal GODS backing him up, as well as access to a wellspring of magical abilities.
His titles include: Champion of Magic, and Guardian of The Rock of Eternity. Anything involving magic or interdimension stuff(example: Apokolips) has to go through him. Hence why he should've been able to know about Darkseid's uprising in both this movie and Justice League: War and put a stop to it, as he's also sort of an ambassador and peacekeeper. It's all in the job description basically.
He also should've known about the first time Darkseid came. Also should've known about the whole Atlantis fiasco. This isn't me bullshitting anyone, I'm actually serious. Almost half of the problems in this universe involve him in some way, and DC shut that down, which kinda sucks cause he's one of my favorite heroes.

You should've started at the beginning, all the questions about the characters would've been answered in the previous ones. Justice league war which is the 2nd movie in this cinematic universe has more shazam in it. Apocalypse was is the final movie of this universe excluding the epilogue with dc showcase constantine. It is well worth a watch the complete cinematic universe. It starts with Flashpoint then JL war, son of batman, JL throne of Atlantis, batman vs Robin, batman bad blood, JL vs Teen titans, JL dark, teen titans Judas contract, suicide squad hell to pay, the death of superman, the reign of supermen, batman hush, wonder woman bloodlines, apokolips war and dc showcase constantine the house of mystery. From there you go to the tomorrowverse
We unfortunately didn’t/don’t have the time to get through all of the movies. And as much as I would’ve liked to have done that, and love those movies, I didn’t feel like it was worth trying to get through them all, just for the universe to reset anyway (which, again, we definitely wouldn’t have gotten through due ti our scheduling). I believe I mentioned that in this video. So it was either this or nothing, and I chose this.
