    • @byeb5736
      @byeb5736 Před 6 lety +207

      Nappyheaded Josh there is no such thing as "burning and replacing fat with muscle". You can strengthen and grow your muscles through exercise and enough calories/ protein. You lose fat by decreasing the amount of calories you consume. You can do all the core exercises in the world but if your body fat is too high you won't have defind abs. Doing planks will burn NOWHERE near enough calories to put anyone close to a calorie deficit. So you need to cut calories in order to achieve the leaness needed to see core muscle definition. Does that make sense? I'm not the best at explaining things. Fat and muscle are two different things that work separately. You grow your muscles w working out and you lose body fat by being in a calorie deficit :)

    • @TheAnarchist99
      @TheAnarchist99 Před 6 lety +60

      Bye B You should also consider that spot reduction is a myth and you can't only burn fat in an specific area of your body . Also skinny fat guys have a hard time getting abs because they need to reduce body fat while putting on muscle and that's kind of tricky. Sorry for my English I'm still learning

    i've been doing planks and a 3:30 min ab workout right after that. it really burns and you go nonstop, that way your muscle fibers break and regrow bigger, creating stronger and more defined abs. the pain is what makes you better. i've been yearning the pain and it's weird to say, but i am always wanting to feel the pain in my abs or legs if i'm running.

    • @MadisonM1

      Berry D yup exactly! After every week they should have added at least 30 seconds. Strengthening your core removes a lot of issues with misalignment and injury, which would make them more inclined to workout possibly. There were also too many contributing factors they didn't consider could affect their results. Plus we all know abs are made in the kitchen. They are already pretty fit so I don't get why they had such high expectations.

I do 30 min. on an elliptical runner and then i do three sets of 35 push-ups and a slow 100 count of planking with each set. I used to do crunches but they irritated by back condition. I have been doing this for a few years now and people are regularly amazed when I tell them my age. They usually think I am in my late 40's.

In the schedule I used there were rest days, you will need them.

    Great video! Really enjoyed it. Instead of just looking at your abdomen /torso before and after , perhaps it might be interesting to test your improvement in core muscle strength some other way e.g. doing number of leg raises before and after the 30 days or perhaps ability to stand on 1 leg (which depends on your core strength). Improvement in core muscle strength is after all probably the main reason for doing planks. Probably appropriate dieting may be the best principal way to get rid of abdominal fat.

    I usually plank for 30 seconds then move into push up position and do 5 push ups (while still engaging core) then get back into plank position.
    Aim is to break up 4 times to do 5 push ups each. But you can change the length of time or the amount of push ups for decreased or increased intensity.
