In this Legendary Weapon Preview I cover the Maliwan Shotgun Projectile Recursion. - Hry
Projectile Recursion + Indisciminate (ricochet) + Ties That Bind can kill 5 Badasses with a single shot. The bullet that ricochets will spawn additional bullets and it can get insane.
Derch, you are a very intuitive person my friend!!! As for when it comes to BL3, I've seen you call out two major components of the game. You said that they had more than meets the eye with the recursion other than what you can see and that was true because of the extra projectiles with different elements and how insanely that split and work with the recursion!!! And in another video you mentioned Amara and having cryo as part of her full skill tree and you were right about that!!! Pretty cool in my opinion how you called out two things about this game that no one even know about yet but you just casually call them out and didn't even know!!!

Derch, In my video a little while back I showcased how the natural ricochet interacts with the skill Indiscriminate to create an additional projectile. The x2 version has a lower DoT, but will do more overall bullet damage. The x1 has a large range on the base damage. The higher end of the range (near 3k) is compatible to the x2.
I love this gun, from all the legendarys I've tried so far, this ones my favorite
The Trevanator is the best Maliwan in my book! I wish gearbox gave us a way to save builds like Monster Hunter World has. Id still pay to switch. Respecing is a drag😕
On pc you could duplicate your save file, just have a save per build... But yeah would be nice to have a different solution. I don't know mhw but diablo 3 has that too.
@@finraziel MHW lets you save entire item and gear loadouts. There's no real equivalent in Borderlands for the item loadouts, but the gear loadout is the entire thing, which armor you have, which weapon, what upgrades you have slotted into those pieces of gear, your charm, the colors, the whole deal. Go to an equipment box (or New U station in Borderlands), and you can pick from a list of over 100 presets you've made. It's pretty damn snazzy!

Was using this gun earlier today. Shot it at the pair of Zer0 targets (Sylestro and Atomic) on the Tazender Ruins. The gun was a bit under-leveled so it didn't quite do enough damage to kill them, it just bounced back and forth until finally the knockback sent them both flying off the map! Kinda hilarious. I wonder if there are any cheesy applications?
Love this gun! It's really good with Zane's Executor class mod, Playing Dirty obviously doubles the damage (of the x1 version) and the passives help as well.
The DOT size also ramps up the Gun Damage exploit boost to the cloud damage.

I was using this with moxsys shock and awe build.. and was lucky enough to get the terror anointment that it fires an additional projectile... easily demolishing slaughter shaft
The Binary Pre-Fix part is the grip of the gun, for some reason it doesn't show the x2, but you can tell is the part
This thing with amaras ties that bind and her ricochet skill is nuts

I love love love how you break things down. Part two and the presequel. I'm glad you're getting out of testing on the easiest map in the game. Playing non mayhem as a baseline, that makes sense. In words. Anybody that has played anything, non-mayhem you know a slightly above average player can wreck with any gun. On any character. I turned modifiers of for the first time and I can just randomly pick up something off the floor and murder. With any character. With sub optimal gear We need a challenge. Hope they deliver with this new dlc. I'm gonna break that boss. I know you're ready, love your content
I have a shock/radiation variant and it’s so good on FL4K that I find myself running out of ammo before I notice. I use it like a sniper rifle because it keeps a tight grouping at higher ranges.
I've used the shock variant this quite a bit for stripping boss shields. Better choices, probably, but it worked for me.
I'd recommend trying stalker on a build that revolves around terror/ammo regen. It is absolutely fantastic.
A Speed Zane using this with the dome shield, Charged Relay and Bad Dose sounds interesting, rush in as close as possible and nail them without worrying about self-damage.

The gun also splits into new projectiles after every two bounces between enemies. In mob heavy rooms the shotgun is an absolute monster.
I really like the ammo regen terror because it does add it to the mag instead of your pool - it makes for an interesting game mechanic. There's all kinds of possibilities with it, instead of just allowing you to be a little lazier with ammo pickups. Lol
This gun with Ties that bind on Amara is really good.
Yeah, but you can make basically anything work with Ties that Bind.
Its stillness of mind that helps most. Ricochits miss a lot unless enemies dont move and are not behind cover.
Oh man that cryo + rad with the double projectile looks amazing. If only it had a better anointment
This gun has a wierd glitch with the armoured saurian where it can split into like 10 + disks, not necessarily a useful glitch but fun to see 20 disks flying through the air
I hope they fix the ammo glitch where if it shoots more than one bullet it sometimes pulls from your stock even while you are regening ammo.
Really liking Maliwan reviews Derch. I play a Moze Tediore chucker and i generally slowly back away when i see Maliwan.

On my Amarra this is a situational backup gun. It works best in enclosed areas with a lot of enemies like Slaughter Shaft. Still need a better roll and would love to see a 2x variant with the extra projectile chance terror anointment.
I think the 2x part is in the grip. I had the same looking grip on a westerngun and it had 2x too. Also, get well derch.
Stalkers are amazing. HIgh ammo use, but with the terror ammo regen you're running, not really an issue. As long as you don't spam fire it and get ahead of the regen rate.
This thing on Amara is busted. The ricochets for the weapon itself do more damage the more targets they hit. Without favorable modifiers on TVHM mayhem 3, i regularly see damage over 2 million. With favorable modifiers, i've seen almost 20 million damage.
With proper target priority (grasp a group near a big target with Stillness of Mind, shoot a trash mob first), it melts anything and everything. I initially vaulted it after first using it, but brought it back out to mess with it, and now it's never leaving my inventory
The Recursion I have on my Amara is a fire + corrosive one with an anointment bonus of radiation damage. The DOT damage on the card is 7.1k, it's absolute DOT heaven. But as well as DOTs, I feel this weapon is best viewed as an equalising force in mobbing situations - the more enemies there are for the projectile to repeatedly ricochet, the stronger it becomes.
You should check out the Faisor. It's a really cool Vladof AR. I got a radiation one for lend if you need help getting a few together.
ammo regen only applies to the mag in this game i think. Unless im wrong and its only moze's ammo regen that adds to mag
I've been waiting on playing around with a lot of the Maliwan guns until I get a good Maliwan com. I really liked Maliwan guns in BL2, but in 3 I'm just not there. I think I have a couple of these on my mule so once I get that com I'll be taking a bunch of guns out to play.
@Mayan Ruins That's one I have used quite a bit. It's one of my favorite shotties .
It was another one of these guns wich didnt impress me at all at first use, but then I used it on Amara post-patch and now it's easily one of my favourites. Not a fan of immediate shot after charge as well, but if the gun behaved like shockwaves it would be just too perfect. I think using 3-shot FadeAway Flak instead of guerillas in the mist would make this gun more deadly. Haven't tried it yet but had a lot of fun using shockwaves with this build. And yeah, terror refills your clip, not total ammo capacity.
This would be good with a Nimbus build, at least (because of the high DOT)
12:08 thought for a moment that the ammo regen briefly worked on your ammo pool there... But I'm guessing your shields is absorbing those shots...
Sucks that the terror ammo regen only works on magazine, that makes it a lot more niche. And you already have to put up with being terrified, and after the event you'd need an anointment on another piece of gear to make you have terror... I don't think it's going to be worth it in many cases.
Y E S D E R C H ! This is a weird gun man, with Amara it utterly destroys mobs but unless the projectiles have clear LoS it can be crap with the other charaters, though that being said it's also pretty cack against lone opponents. However get a couple of anointed in close proximity it'll do the pair of them over faster than near on any other weapon in the game Seriously this gun can be MEGA efficient. Also it benifits from Overkill damage in flight as each ricochet is a new spawned projectile. Hope you feel better soon mate.
Anybody figure out the dedicated drop source for this yet?
I saw somewhere else that general traunt is the dedicated drop but so far nothing yet. Going to keep farming him
It's auto that why it auto fires. When they are semi auto it will hold till you release. If they made the storm snipers semi auto they would be allot better. They also need a damage boost since you can get purple maliwan snipers with over 2000 damage.
I feel like you expect too much from the parts system. It's clearly very limited on many legendaries as most will always spawn with the same parts. There's no crazy mixing and matching parts like in Borderlands 2. They really dumbed it down and then added a way to view all the parts? That makes very little sense to me.
My personal experience with the gun was awful. It just didn't do any damage.
If BL3 had ways to boost projectile speed that would be a big help because of the "shoot-on-charge" nature.
They do have that on class mods but mainly for Torgue weapons.
can you talk about how cov launchers kinda suck also how there is no legendary cov launcher somehow
... Maliwan should allow uncharged shots with quick tapping and def. not shoot until release with shotguns, snipers an launchers ...
So it's not just me? I don't have this gun, but I've found that some times, my bullets will go through the mobs with no effect since the last hotfix.
The 2x gun does the most damage, as combined the projectiles does 2914. Also, you forgot to show the parts again. XD
Thats wierd, i found the charge up on this gun helping my aim as it gives you time to focus on getting a headshot so i guess its personal preference.
I've seen a couple of these but never picked on up. I hate Maliwan weapons because of the charge time.

To each their own. I tried them and I don't mind the charge time as much anymore. Maliwan guns are great ^^
I do mind the charge time on some Maliwan weapons but some are great I don't mind the short charge times obviously more effective with amara
There are only 3 body accesories per gun type, a gun can have all tree of them, they are always the same
There is a CZcams channel called "Agent Lomax" his part guides are helpful
I've found that there are so many ammo crates in these maps that the ammo part is never really a concern.
Sometimes. I think it depends if you're on mayhem 3 or only using a singular gun/weapon type.
@@crimsonraiza3633 I would like to see them go back to giving more weight in crates to the ammo you are currently using the most of... like in BL2
@@WyldeTripKY it does do that when you're really low on an ammo type, but auto pickup makes it harder to open several boxes with that effect...

@@WyldeTripKY When you need a quick burst, like for instance you're right outside Traunt and you're really low, you can open chests and run away before you pick the ammo up and trigger the effect on all of them.
I do think that you need to be lower on ammo, percentually, than in the previous games, to get a really strong effect though.

Also if people say this is great with Amara why did you decide to showcase it with Fl4k, Derch? Genuinely curious.
He's been doing all of these on FL4K with a neutral build and without mayhem to make it easier to compare guns without them being affected too much by skills and mayhem modifiers.

2. If you want to show off how good a gun it it's best to do so on neutral ground- you wouldn't test the Orphan Maker on Sal for example

Dont you mean "review", since a preview is something you show us we dont have acces to yet? I dont mean to call you out on grammar, but english is not my first language and i am interested in improving. I may be wrong about the definition
You are basically correct. By calling this a "preview" of the gun, he might be implying that this video would only be useful to people who have not yet found this weapon. For me, for example, this is a "preview" of how the gun might fare when I find it.
