    Very nice result from what you've made an easy process. HOWEVER, as a retired Industrial Arts (AKA "Shop") teacher, I cringed when I watched you saw the wooden board on the table saw...and you did it FREEHAND! A MAJOR no-no! I had a good friend who, during one of my college woodworking classes, decided to make a freehand cut and the kickback hit him in the least desirable location for a male. To this day--nearly 50 years later--he will totally NOT use a table saw. When I was teaching, I used to give kickback demonstrations to my junior high students and, while I did not intend to scare the wits out of them, they did tell me that it surely made them respect machine safety. During my many years of teaching Industrial Arts, we NEVER had a kickback and I think it was due to the fact that I expected each student who used the table saw to think clearly and to understand what s/he was going to do when s/he hit the ON button.
    So, PLEASE...tell your customers what a big mistake you made at 5:13 when you just ran that board through the table saw with no safety consideration at all. If that thing had kicked back--or you had started to stray from your marked line and then tried to correct for that, you could have had a VERY BAD kickback. Otherwise, very good process.

      @@theexhibition751 Thank you! I guess my perceived paranoia is fueled by having watched a good friend experience a kickback from a table saw being used in precisely the same way as demonstrated here. I can promise you that it is no minor accident when kickbacks happen. Many kickbacks have resulted in death, if not dismemberment. So, "forewarned is forearmed." Also, "It's much better to hear it and not need it than to need it and not hear it."

    I love you videos and have learned a lot from you. I have a question that isn't really related to the process you used here, but more about the care of the board you created in this video. You created this to be a gift. My experience is resin scratches with use. Do you give a small buffing kit with them? People have started asking me if they can buy boards from me and I am nervous about the scratching that will probably occur down the road.

    • @CraftedElements
      @CraftedElements  Před 2 lety +1

      You are ok to use a heat gun or torch on your epoxy, you just want to avoid holding it near the mold for any period of time. When i do it, I wave it back and forth quickly, just enough to pop the bubbles but not heat up the mold.

      It's dependant on the specific mold you are using. However, I think it was roughly 1/4" full, so roughly 40-50oz of resin to make the clear template on that one.
