Quality molds make quality products. I love the thickness of your molds. I have purchased less expensive molds that bowed out, making the final piece completely out of shape and unable to be sold for the price I would need to recoup what I made making it.
These chess boards are stunning! Thank you for making quality items!
Thanks for saying so! We appreciate it.

This is fantastic. Thank you
I really like the red/black board.
Great video! Just the type of mold I am looking for. Thank you,
Thanks Mark!
Molds look good. I would have approached the actual resin completely differently but, they look great! 🍻

Very good video!!!!! I love the little blond💖
Always love your videos and have a number of your molds! Plus always look forward to what's next.
Thanks for saying so! Stay tuned we have some more coming up soon.
@@CraftedElements I did see the new molds. Hex, cubs, for tiles. Those are nice.
The boards are very pretty
Thanks for saying so!
Great video mate
With the laser engraving, you can take a massive step up if you put a layer of masking/painters tape over the top before you put it through the laser, it'll completely burn off with a slight increase in your settings, and you can then do some fun things with the pattern such as a good metallic paint before peeling the tape. Gets you the patterns and it looks awesome in the end.
If you want another option for personalized chess pieces, I believe Prince August has some really good options for them in mold form, though they're for metal casting.
Hey Azrael. Thats for that suggestion that sounds like a cool technique I'll have to experiment with.
@@CraftedElements I'd upgraded a pile of the wooden "cigar boxes" that the craft stores sometimes carry with them to make some dice trays, for my test one, I'd found that the spray metallics are a better option, and the tape limits the spread of the charring (which can create other issues for paint/stain over time since around the edges, some of that rubs off easily even with stuff over it).
@@AzraelThanatos Totally makes sense. I will have to give that a try for sure.
Hi love these moulds, the boards look amazing 👏 your wee boy is so cute 😍 thanks for sharing
Thanks Michelle... and yes... he tries hard to be as cute as possible.
Your little assistant is adorable!
The way you are with your kid has me rollin 🤣 that would be exactly me if I had kids 😂
Yes they are quite hilarious!
That's what I'm saying!
These boards are stunning!! Great start to finish tutorial!! ♟
Cool idea! Love your videos. Oh, by the way, Crafted Elements molds are amazing. But, you already knew that 😂
Thanks so much for saying that!
This is fantastic. I'm so glad you're making this. I've already ordered one and cannot wait to create!
Awesome Cheryl. So glad to hear it.
Hello from Hamilton, Ontario!!!
Ola back at you Hammertown.
Awesome
Thanks for sending the chess pieces up Jerry! Hopefully you find some customers to get some sets off of you.
I would have liked to see the elaboration of the figures; will you have that video? 👍👏👏
Do you have large modes for the chest pieces
Really love the project! Thanks for the detailed tutorial. :)
Just wanted to mention though, on the final arrangement, the chess board should be rotated by 90 degrees :).
Thanks for your videos.
Cheers!
Yes, someone pointed this out to me. I am clearly not a chess grandmaster!
Hahah! It's funny you say that. There's been at least one occasion when a board was arranged this way in an actual top level tournament.
Haha! Really enjoy your videos btw.
I've been meaning to get into epoxy art for a while now, looks like 2023 might be the year I finally do.
Cheers! :)
@@jamesabhilash8006 I guess I had a 50% chance of being right... just my luck! Epoxy art can be fun but there are cheaper hobbies for sure. Good molds (from us!) and decent resin arent cheap. But... what is these days?
Also to give more content for my previous comment, I was planning on making the border and the backing the same color.
You can flood the lines after curing with alcohol ink in a needle nose bottle. Let it dry an hour or so and then clean up with a spray of 91% isopropyl alchohol and soft rag until clean and sharp.
That's something I have never heard of before but I will be sure to experiment with.
How do you clean the bottles from the epoxy?
Just got my chess mold and it's fantastic. I have never seen such a high-quality mold. I'm so pleased I found your shop. Thanks for this video too!
Thanks for saying that! Glad you found the video helpful.
Copythat, just checked out your page, very nice. i will definitely be in contact with you, Thanx again.
I think talking about using the proper mold release at the start might be useful for newcomers.
We have a whole video on the subject -> craftedelements.com/moldrelease
Where can i get this Big Azz mold from?
I missed how you got the star design in the blue squares, did you add a bit of white and then use a stick to move it around?
I think thats actually tiny air bubbles and pigment.
What brand should I use for polishing resin and what proceedure should be used ( sandpaper in ascebduibg grits then higher grit sandpaper wet , then pollishing creams?
There are likely some good videos on CZcams on polishing resin. We do have a sanding video here: czcams.com/video/OzXFmnUy4rY/video.html
Love these boards are you going to make the pieces?
We do not have any plans to make the chess piece molds im afraid!
Great tutorial! I got your mold off of Etsy recently and have been doing test squares. I will be doing my first full chessboard soon! After filling the squares and letting them dry, could you also do the border and the entire back at the same time? Or would you not recommend that?
You would have to do the back first, because you cant remove the squares all at once and have them held together.
@@CraftedElements Thanks! Yes so if the squares were filled and dry (and left in the mold) could you then do the border and the backing all at once? I wasn’t planning on removing the squares once they are filled and dried/firm. Just curious if the border and the backing could then all be done at once after that. In this tutorial, you do the squares and border, left it dry, and then do a backing the same color as the border. So just wondering if the border and the backing can be done in one pour if the squares are dry/firm and still in the mold.
@@BaileyMakesVideosYes, you could both at once, I assumed you meant the lines between the squares.
@@CraftedElements Awesome! Thank you for the info!
Hello,
I really liked your work.
What are the exact dimensions of the chessboard in cm please.
By the way, how much is the silicone mold?
Do you make silicone chess pieces?
I wish you good work.
Game board molds and pricing can be found here, you can convert inches to cm if you need to : craftedelements.com/collections/game-chess-embossed-resin-art-molds
We do not make silicone molds for chess pieces, we recommend that you 3D print those.
Will you guys ever make/sell molds for the chess pieces to go with this?
Probably not, it would be much easier to 3D print + paint the chess pieces.
@craftedelements..only if you have a 3d printer if not it's going to be quite expensive to 3d print 😁😊
Where can I get the pieces at
I love them pieces, are they metal.
No they are 3D printed by @JerryLePore
Do you make a chess board mold that's smaller than that one? I love the thick edges on the squares so that they don't run over, but that's too big of a chess board for me.
Teresa, we are going to work on and release a 14.5x14.5x0.5" one with 1.5x1.5" squares that are 0.2" deep. Stay tuned.
Todas las casillas son grises, pero el blanco va a la derecha.
I think I figured it out, the white bit in the center of the squares are bubbles. Right?
I think they are bubbles that we didnt pop, but the surface isnt rough.
Is there a way to avoid the swirls in the black on the second board?
I think what you are seeing is the swirls from the pearl pigment. Thats how the colorant we used works, it contains mica/synthethic mica powder to give it that effect. If you want flat black, you just need to use a black colorant / pigment. Usually a liquid or dispersion pigment, to tint your resin instead.
If you don't fill the grooves in ....how many more oz will it take from the initial 12??
Hi Jason. I dont have that info recorded, im sorry!
How thick wood could you put in the deeper mold?
Its a 1.5" mold, so you could theoretically put 1.5" thick wood in it. It would just be difficult to get it aligned in the squares, it would be fairly easy on the outside of the perimeter though.
I have ordered one and began pouring, but I do not know how long I should wait until peeling it out of the mold? I've read 24 48 and 72 hours
It is specific to the epoxy you are using. You need to determine the demold time (not cure time). Most epoxies that are good for 1-1.5" pours are 3 days, but its all temperature dependant.
Hallo. Möchte nachfragen was kosten die Figuren ?
what do you sand resin too
It really depends on how clear you want it. For most projects Ill do 320, for clear/glossy, its up to 3000 then polishing with a plastic polishing system (3 step).
Did the mold stick on the corner?
I dont think so? Molds shouldnt stick as long as mold release is thoroughly applied.
I'm pretty sure those 3d printed chess pieces were resin printed, not FDM.
Could you do a mold for the 2 inch squares but deep?
Deeper squares, so more like 2" blocks? Likely not, as the dividers in between the blocks made of silicone would likely rip during demold.
@@CraftedElements not 2 inches deep!
Like the one deep one you made but with bigger squares.
@@jamingaming9251 ah! I understand. Its definitely possible, but it would require new tooling to be made and would be a custom job. Tooling for something that size and complexity would likely run about $1200 USD.
