  • When it comes to cloning making duplicates of your favorite jedi or sith warrior was quite hard. We take a close look at cloning technology in star wars and figure out what its limitations are.

    Actually Palpatine's clone bodies had been sabotaged by Carnor Jax, one of his Sovereign Protectors and an aspiring Sith Lord. Jax and the Imperial Ruling Council resented having to return power back to Palpatine (who also planned on eventually replacing them all with Dark Jedi enslaved to his will) so they collectively amassed funds to bribe the Emperor's personal physician to sabotage the clones. Palpatine thought it was his pure dark side power rotting his clones, but it was due to Jax's treachery. The ultimate schemer and betrayer in Star Wars was outschemed and betrayed by the very system he'd put into place.

      @@TheManofthecross Palpatine never suspected they had been. He assumed the reason his clones were decaying when he inhabited them was due to his immense power. He died ignorant of the true reason. The conspiracy was revealed to the Jedi and upper ranks of the New Republic by the Physician when they captured him. The conspirators thought that since the physician was the weakest of the Emperor's entourage he'd have died first, unfortunately for them he didn't and one of Palpatine's Royal Guards overheard the confession, told the rest of the Guards left who swore a blood oath to avenge the fallen Emperor. The last Royal Guard eventually fulfilled this oath, killing Jax in personal combat and later getting the Ruling Council captured by the New Republic.

      @grandadmiralzaarin4962 Před 4 lety +1

      @@TheManofthecross They probably wouldn't have lasted long, but the key difference was that by poisoning them and tainting the samples, Palpatine could not make MORE of them. That was ultimately the main thing that drove him to be increasingly reckless and insane in Dark Empire. If the clones genetic material hadn't been sabotaged, Palpatine could have just kept minting them out in perpetuity without worry, since even if they only lasted a short time he would have an endless supply. That was his original goal, but because of Jax's conspiracy that supply became finite and increasingly unstable.
      It's symptomatic of the entire system Palpatine built which ran off of greed, ambition and paranoia. He built the Empire to compete and fight each other for position and his favor so that they would always be divided below him. The problem was that after Vader yeeted him into the Death Star II's reactor, Palpatine lost control of the Empire proper for around five years. During that time period everyone tried to gain access to the Throne and some succeeded briefly. When he came back...they didn't want to give up that power to him. The Empire literally destroyed itself with internal power struggles and Warlordism because it was built around the principles of the Dark Side.The very things that brought Palpatine to power also destroyed him.

    As solid as the lore behind cloning in Legends is, and the limitations it presents, especially in cloning Force Sensitives, I think there may be some new canon lore that helps flesh this out moving forward in The Mandalorian.
    Moff Gideon says before his confrontation with Din Djarin that all he wanted from Grogu was samples of his blood. If an Imperial Moff is wanting the blood of a highly Force Sensitive infant of the same species as Yoda it can really only be for one thing.
    This leads to a theory that the experiments Moff Gideon oversaw were what allowed for the creation of Snoke... seeing as how he is essentially a Force Sensitive clone produced to be Palpatine's puppet who would unite people nostalgic for the Empire into the First Order.
    Of course, the clone body we see of Palpatine in The Rise of Skywalker is a much more flawed creation, given all of the machinery that is keeping him alive until he drains Rey and Ben Solo to regenerate himself. Of course that presents a gaping plot hole... perhaps in Moff Gideon's agenda in The Mandalorian, Jon Favreau is out to fix certain things that have gone wrong lorewise with Star Wars since Disney took it over.

His original body has grown and adept to amount like how otakesake a small amount of poison over the course of time to grow immunity, that when a big lethal is a dose the body would be able to survive without issue. Sidious spirit has been so corrupt by the dark side, his clone bodies never had a chance to survive since they never had the time to hold such power.
    A similar case can be seen with Darth Nox from the old republic MMO. Nox absorb force ghosts to accumulate power but have absorbed too much power too quickly that his/her body was effective dying and mind on the verge of shattering. Nox had to complete rebuilt his/her body to be able to wield such power and learn a force mind healing ritual to resist the force ghosts' influence.

  • @r.connor9280
    @r.connor9280 Před 4 lety

    I think there are two fundamentals to this issue 1. the internal biological clock of the organism being cloned and 2. preexisting midiclorian samples from the original subject
    The first issue is due to the fact that so many clones have accelerated growth periods in order to produce a viable sample in such short times this could cause confusion or out right rejection be the clone as the cells and the midiclorian reproduce at differing rate causing the midiclorian population to be spread unevenly throughout the body.
    The second occurs when someone tries to transfuse force powers into the clone because the clone would presumably have it's own set of midiclorians that would reject or conflict against the foreign material/instructions given as the force treat the clone as a separate being with it's own will and conciseness

    We are really close to having the mammoth. Honestly, the biggest hurdle stopping us still is most likely ethics. Is it ok to bring something back? Where do go go from here? How do we regulate human climbing(as that won't be far behind doing a big mammal like a mammoth successfully), those kinds of things.

      @kylegesin7178 Před 4 lety

      @@Creshex8 a mammoth is a well know, popular animal, that would get a lot of coverage if it's done. And there is no reason we shouldnt be able to clone an extinct species so long as we have the entire genome. And there is a close enough living relative to be a surrogate for it. Which there is for the mammoth.
      All that said, trying it with a smaller, less complicated animal first would be a good idea. But that doesn't change what I said. We are pretty close, with mainly ethical concerns stopping it.

    George Lucas is the one who came up with the idea of Palpatine cloning himself and transferring his spirit into the empty clones. He provided that idea to Tom Veitch and Cam Kennedy as they set out to create "Dark Empire" back in 1980s when Marvel was going to publish it under the Epic Comics imprint before it stalled and later ended up at Dark Horse Comics. I think he took the idea from the Canadian horror film "Eternal Evil" [aka "The Blue Man"] from circa 1985. It seems "The Skeleton Key" later cribbed from it as well. Some would also include "Fallen" as well. That was with the demon Azazel but if one considers Palpatine to be the living avatar of the Dark Side of the Force, then I guess that's a valid inclusion...

  • @benedictodiptasuta9306

    Because the Midichlorians is contained on every single cell of the force-sensitive body, down to the bones and brain. This is why it's basically impossible to turn a non-force sensitive to a force-sensitive. As an example, Dooku attempts to make Grievous to have a force sensitivity by transfusing force-sensitive blood into Grievous' bloodstream before and during the cyborg operation. It did nothing advantageous to Grievous.
