- The Man-at-Legs is a member of the Arachnorb family, and first appeared as a boss in Pikmin 2. It's one of the few bio-mechanical creatures featured in the game, having a mostly mechanical torso sheathed in metal with four spindly legs - three of them are black, organic and spider-like, while the other one is mechanical. Several exhaust pipes on its body continually emit smoke. Unlike other Arachnorbs, it has no flat footpads to stomp Pikmin with, Instead it relies on its speed, quickly skittering around the room to avoid being attacked. When agitated, the panels of its underbelly separate and a machine gun-like weapon extends out, tracking any nearby targets via a laser sight before rapidly firing a barrage of explosive rounds at whatever it manages to lock onto. However, the Man-at-Legs is not in control of this, the machine extends the machine gun, the Man-at-Legs is actually gentle under the metal.

Such a brave yellow Pikmin
This boss left a lasting impression on me as a kid because it was such a cool design but I also wasn't expecting my Pikmin to get gunned down in a Nintendo game.
I want a boss in Pikmin 4 that recaptures that feeling of seeing the Man-at-Legs for the first time. It’s such a juxtaposition to the other bosses in the game despite just being another Long Legs variant.

The mechanical 'growls' and noises you added to the Man At Legs make it so much 'alive' if that makes sense. Like it actually reacts to it's surroundings besides the ones it already has in Pikmin 2. Your animations are so good.

Most memorable battles are man at legs. The new waterlogged fight in 4 was memorable.

I have to wonder just how that thing came into existence. Like, the Dweevils, you kind of get, right? It's just random trash they started carrying around. But the Man-at-Legs is a full-on, custom-crafted cyborg spider. Mind you, with what we've seen in recent years as far as new tech, it's not wholly outside of the realm of possibility imo... but you still have to wonder what thought-process was going through their heads. Was it some sort of elaborate assassination attempt? And who made it? Did the government spend ten years and billions of dollars to make this thing, or did some college student toss it together over a summer?

when i fought this boss in pikmin 4 (i had not played pikmin 2 or any of the other games for that matter) the last thing i was expecting was my pikmin getting shot by a gun. like what? i'd like to see that board meeting. "uh, so about that long legs, do you think we should give it a gun?"
Same, I was playing the shipwreck tales and climbed onto the table and I was just like "Huh, this long legs looks kinda weird." Not expecting a turret with a laser sight to just pop out of the bottom and try to gun me down.
Imagine a Pikmin mod of D-Day as you and your assortment of Blues have to cross the Trenches of the Wistful Wild as a horde of Gatling Groinks, Man at Legs and Careening Dirigibugs are opening fire at you like its the beaches of Normandy
One dangerous mechanical spider robot. One brave Yellow Pikmin, and one bombrock destroying that mechanical creature to pieces. Bravery and successful risks lead to victory after what just transpired here. Imagine Olimar and his Pikmin squad facing Man-At-Legs and any other creatures while entering a dark science fictional region, the Twilight Zone.

Imagine you got a sequel to your favorite game and found yourself the final level of the Subterranean Complex, then you throw your pikmin at a seemingly docile robotic Beady Long Legs that can't crush pikmin, then it pulls out a TURRET AND SHOOTS DOWN ALL OF YOUR PIKMIN?!?!

If i remember corectly the Man at Legs cannon is automatic and the spider itself isn't controlling it and actually very peacfull but some MONSTER just duct taped a gun on it
