- Joffrey Baratheon is one of the most brilliantly written characters in the entire Game of Thrones Series. He’s a character we all simply love to hate. In addition to the characters book written brilliance, Jack Gleeson’s on screen portrayal of the brutal young king is just incredible. He brings so much life into the character and I know I’m not the only one who was desparate for Joffrey to get his comeuppance as the episodes and seasons progressed. In this video I’m going to take you through the entire life of Joffrey Baratheon, based on the book while using fan art and scenes from the show as references. It's a shame he didn't have an opportunity to meet Ramsey Bolton. I think they'd have been the best friends who really undestand each other. Joffrey as the King of the Seven Kingdoms and Ramsey as the Hand of the King.
I doubt it, Joffrey would view Ramsey as just a bastard below him and would be probably be offended to be in his very presence.
Ramsey would just view Joff as a dumb, southerner who he'd be glad to torture and maim.

At least in the books, Cersei is much more understanding of Sansa's plight as she went through a similar ordeal at a young age. She even tells Sansa that she understands why she doesn't love Joffrey and that he's always been difficult. The difference is it made Cersei bitter and spiteful, and made Sansa stronger.

They might not have shown these things, but with Lena's acting I immediately felt that Cersie finds herself in Sansa. She wants to toughen her up but also has this fear and anger for her, because her state reminds of her.
People who call cersie as pure evil etc etc are stupid because Cersie has more dimensions than people think
Cersei is what Sansa could have become if she never received her reality check:
Both start out very similar to each other: Arrogant, selfish, spoiled and elitistic women who are the eldest daughters of the Lords of their respective regions and grew infatuated with the Prince of Westeros, wanting the position for the perks. Both aren't above bullying their younger siblings and grew disenchanted with their situation. Both are also renowned for their physical beauty.
-Cersei is a despotic womanchild who flaunts her status and never grew up from the spoiled woman phase, Sansa eventually learns compassion and kindness.

In real life he is the polar opposite of that character. Seen a few extended interviews with him and it's quite the contrast. He's a real intellectual who also believes in social responsibility and activism. I think he really doesn't act now because ppl cannot differentiate between the character and the person, which is sad, because he's a brilliant actor.

It’s hard to say, it’s possible. Although being a product of incest, it’s highly likely his cruel nature was a mental illness which I believe is more likely when relatives do the deed. Maybe under better conditions he could have been raised better

Sadly Would have been impossible to happen given the Lannisters, he's got cersei the controlling mother, the secret father in the kingsguard and the controlling father to who they owe enough money to sink the whole kingdom, none of them would want a stark controlling and mentoring their bloodline.
That said I think he would have made a good conflicted character a lot similair to how theon had the difficulty between his family and the people who raised him
Joffery is the exception not the rule in his family. Sure his siblings were inbred but they were much kinder and more empathetic to people than their brother ever was on his best day

Joffrey is exactly what Cersei would have been if Cersei were a boy. The only thing that held Cersei back was she could never be king. He’s her and she can’t stand it
@@autumnfranklin6790 Not sure I agree. Power hungry, yes, but Cersei showed far more restraint than Joffrey. She knew when to show kindness and mercy for her own gain, but Joffrey didn't seem to even be able to comprehend that.

But I only think Cersei shows certain kindnesses because she’s a woman and is expected to act that way, or can sympathize with other women better because she also faced similar hardships brought on by her sex. If she had been born a boy and never had to deal with such things, I think she’d be far crueler

I was actually looking for a channel that did something like your Harry Potter videos but with Game of Thrones characters. Your videos really help me understand the lore behind each character in each of the series.
GoT Rewind is also a good series of videos, with a lot of the minor characters having their individual stories told in linear fashion...

Jack Gleeson was one of the best actors on the show, he really brought Joffrey to life.

I wish he had lived up to the last season just so he could have experienced the living unbeatable hell Daenerys brought down on Kings Landing with Drogon. I also wish Ramsey would have witnessed it too, it's be interesting to see how they would have reacted to a force they couldn't terrorize, beat into submission or intimidate.

I love your videos:) Joffrey and Cersei were my most hated characters in game of thrones :D and I love Tyrion, Tyrion is simply one of the smartest characters in game of thrones , I loved how he always was putting Joffrey in his place ;D , you should do videos about Daenerys and Tyrion too:)
There was TONS of amazing actors in this show, but Joffrey and Tywin Lannister were by far the best among them, imo. The last 2 seasons did all these talented actors a world of injustice.

Joffrey is much like a character that I'm writing. Basically, take Joffrey and mix it with Ramsay Bolton, and you get Valkurian, the Scarlet King. Valkurian is everything Ramsay was, and everything Joffrey wanted to be. He stormed the capital of the kingdom that rules the world as we know it; and took the throne by beheading the former king himself and impaling anyone else who rose against his rule. Valkurian rules through fear, and terror; but also, adoration and worship, creating a massive death-cult in his wake. Prove you are bloodthirsty, ruthless, cunning and ambitious, and you are rewarded...otherwise, you are nothing but an interesting pet that the king and his guard gets to play with.
I know this may come as a shock but Cersie, Jamie and Tyrion are. The mad King Aeris Targaryan's Children. There is plenty of evidence of this. Tyrion has dreams when he was a Child about Dragons. When he goes under the Pyramids and releases Reagal and Visaryon they do not roast him and eat him. He even tells the Dragons that he desperately wanted a Dragon when he was a child and he had begged his Father Tywin, to get him one. Tywin knows Tyrion ia not his son but he doesn't or did not know that Cersie and Jamie are not his Children. Tywin tells Tyrion several time that he is not his. "Mans laws allow you to have my name and carry my Sigil, Since i cannot prove that you are not mine." That is a direct quote from Tywin to Tyrion.

Sandor is the second kings guard to not be a true knight. In the prequel stories that we know so far Sir Duncan the Tall was never truly knighted and he became lord commander.
I really hoped Joffrey lived much longer because as much as I hated him, I loved him even more thanks to jacks incredible portrayal. I wanted to see more of Joffrey, even though he is a disgusting, cruel and vicious person.
Joffrey should feel lucky that Robert didn't kill his for what he did to their pregnant cat. If he did that in the current day and age, not only would 4chan/the internet hate machine come after him, but so would any animal/cat lovers.

I love a great villain and Joffrey is one of my favorites. On my first watch I was of course so happy to see him die but upon rewatches I always yearn for more of him taking things to 11 and spazzing out. I have to give as much credit to Jack Gleeson and George for this one I think.
