For those who haven't read the novel, it is explained that this last magic he tries to use against Orsted is literally a magic similar to a nuclear explosion

Fun fact about that last blast from Rudeus. Excluding Orsted, everyone there would have died if Orsted didn't negate it. Rudeus just threw all the magic he could muster at him with zero restraint so the purple fire ball was essentially a mini-nuke.
