I put an Alpine Halo 11 in my 2021 XLE. It isn’t a drop-in, but with a small amount of customization it works for me.
A Maestro RR is required. For some reason I did not retain the steering wheel stereo controls, but I have never had them before, they are pretty irrelevant to me.

Many people have been saying this isn't possible on the 2019 Rav 4 LEs.
I really want the bigger screen at the very least, if not the android auto added to it as well. What year LE did you put this in? Was it a 2019?
I know about the other options for head units, but I really like the look of the OEM ones.
I just want to be able to connect on android auto. T_T

Very informative video, thank you for posting it. I’ve been busy trying to replace the head unit in my brand new 2023 RAV4 Hybrid AWD. The head unit is a Panasonic having the 10’5 inch screen. The unit itself works fine but Toyota decided to leave out AM in units destined for Europe. Thank you, Toyota! There are many AM stations in Holland, even brand new ones appeared on AM recently. All legal by the way. However, no more AM in new Toyota/ Lexus vehicles for the European market. So I wanted to swap it for an Australian, almost identical Panasonic head unit that has everything my existing one has AND medium wave. It seems impossible to get one though. Toyota Europe gives no cooperation, Toyota Australia refuses to sell me one as the VIN# of my RAV4 is unknown in Australia, of course it is! What’s more, they tell me that this might have effects on any future warrenties in case the replacement head unit causes malfunctions of the car or components that might fail due to the new head unit. I doubt that this will happen but that doesn’t make things different. I simply are denied my wish for a replacement head unit, despite the fact I’m willing to pay for it. Not exactly customer friendly. Oh, what I found out as well is that the sockets and consequently the plugs on the new Panasonic 10’5 inch head units are different from the Denso and Pioneer head units and that means it won’t be possible to swap an older head unit for a new 10’5 inch head unit in vehicles made in 2019-2022. That goes for Toyota OEM head units as there are no Toyota OEM wire harnesses to connect the new head units. After market head units come with those cables but these will only fit the earier OEM model head units such as the Denso and Pioneer ones. So it is a tricky business and maybe one should think twice before buying a replacement head unit. Greetings from Hekelingen, The Netherlands. Bye, Willem.

I found a 2023 head unit with all the cables. I’m pretty sure it would be kind of difficult to make it work with my 2021.😭

    • @leyland9999
      @leyland9999 Před 10 měsíci

@@gustavoacosta215 Exactly. Problem is the OEM head units are integreted to such an extend that replacing it will indeed be a challenge. Whatever the case, it will almost always come down to cutting the existing wire harnesses and this is something I want to avoid. Then there is the problem weather or not there still is an AM antenna. Some say that the defrosting wires in the rear window also serve as an AM antenna. If so, my RAV4 probably doesn’t have the wiring anymore and/or the antenna simply is no longer part of the defrosting wires. Anyways, I found out that all new RAV4’s destined for the EU will have AM……What a coincidence don’t you think? All new RAV4 manuals are online and I was informed by someone who read my threads and just got his new RAV 4. A matter of bad luck for me because Toyota still refuses to swap my unit for a most recent one that has AM reception.

Gracenote provides music Metadata like name of the song album and picture from te cover. Having it means the headunit is capable to identify what mp3 you are playing. Great video, I saw another head unit 10.2in wide I hope you can test it one day, the one I saw is wider and has volume knobs.

My cousin brought a used 2019 RAV4 XLE premium with the 7” screen . I was told that he doesn’t have the remote start because you needed to order the audio plus package 8” screen when ordering a new rav4 , which is factory installed. I wanted to know ( even though it’s an expensive option) if you install a 8” screen, will it now give you remote start.

      Watch out!
Do a research about "remote start" in your country for RAV4 .
I have a RAV4 2019 too. But they ask for "MONTHLY PAYMENT" through what it is called "TOYOTA CONNECT+" ( not PERMANENT! )
Here is info I copy from the web:
      TOYOTA CONNECT+
      $9.95 per month
      1 year complimentary period
In addition to Toyota Essentials package:
      Stolen Vehicle Tracking (SVT)
      Status Connect
      Guest Driver Settings
      Drive Pulse
      Recent Trips
      Remote Connect
      Remote Engine Start
      Remote Lock/Unlock - Door
      Remote Hazards

Does the GPS works when OEM radio with GPS installed on 2021 Toyota RAV 4 Le Hybrid. I still prefer OEM head unit to be installed on lower trim level. I installed Dasaita head unit on my Toyota Camry but sound quality is much better with OEM radio. Although Dasaita head unit has more powerful amplifier but the sound is thinner at lower volume. I have to increase the volume to make the sound fuller. It is easier to control the original head unit because I prefer rotary knob to control the volume. I end up installing back the original head unit.

I would love to know this too because the 8" unit should communicate with the steering system to get the steering wheel position and provide the guidelines. I assume this is automatic besides a calibration that can be done via the service menu in the display.

Are there any other options for the hybrid model that could possibly display the added hybrid information that’s typically on the stock head unit?
