I love the head unit My 1st one I had a screen didn't work But they refounded it and send me a new one I love it It has more power than the factory one so yes I'm glad I re updated the speakers you said to,
Your video is well done and easy to understand thanks man
Cant wait for the next video im looking to upgrade my factory one on my 2019 rav4
I specifically avoided the 2019 because there is not Android Auto. This would be a great replacement.
Thanks for doing this dude
I dont even have a Rav4, but thanks for the video.
Crazy install
Love this video, just wished it would of been another brand since this one has been covered by other CZcamsrs. (Not a complain). Thanks for your detailed instructions.
I completely understand your comment. Dasaita reaches out to youtubers which is where there is more video on it. =]
Hi, friend
Good video, thanks for your support and love of dasaita
Nice video mate 👍
Hola, conecté altavoces directamente al los RCA y no tienen sonido, sabrías darme una explicación. Gracias y felicidades por el canal. 👌👍
@Rav4Gen5 Do you have a video showing how you installed the GPS wire?
Thank you for another great video.
My first and biggest question is. If you are making an aftermarket product, why do you not make it to the same specifications as the OEM so that at least it fits properly into place? why am I supposed to do a modification in order for the not so "cheap" replacement fit nicely and steadily without wobling on every bump or hole when I am off road?
I also have some more concerns i.e. why can I not use the OEM microphone? why do i have to run so many extra wires?
What about the original USB charge point under the dash? where do I connect my Android phone now in order to have Android Auto if i want to?
I would love to upgrade my stock unit but I really would like to have a more plug and play alternative.
Hey. I answer some of your questions in the next video available now. I cannot comment on the fitment of the part. It's unfortunate but I think I do have some resolution to it.
Microphone is built into the head unit. Don't need to run wires
USB under climate controls is now only a charger. Need to use USB cables provided by head unit for AA.
Did you do a video onn installing the gps antenna?
I installed this unit into my Rav Prime, major ill fitting back cover, (looking for a solution) also my steering wheel buttons are not working..........Been two days at it, but I did make use of the stock head mounting brackets, so it is as stable as the stock unit. My head unit was not a pioneer brand, it is stock toyota.Any solution to the steering wheel buttons? I also installed a second screw on the head to screen bracket
Is it possible to hear sounds from the cables behind the screen or everything is ok?
Thanks
Does the talk button work? The button on the eom head unit for voice commands
Can anyone tell me if they lost Toyota Connect or Safety connect (emergency button functionality on overhead control panel) after installing this?
Thanks for the great content! Question, will your old head unit be plug and play with a 2019 RAV4 that didn’t have the upgraded head unit??
You will have to remove your head unit and look at the ports to see if it matches mine. From a 2019, I would just get an aftermarket one. It'll be way cheaper than a 2020 OEM unit.
@@Rav4Gen5 Not to mention that the oem unit is garbage.
Great video- watching the follow up next.
Why not just drill a hole in that bracket where the hole in the head unit is? Then you can at least have one bolt per side for the head unit and you can still use the old holes if you ever want to go back to the old head unit. ...maybe the hole on the brain doesn't line up to allow for that...
Also, you don't need bird's eye view to be able to switch between the viewing angles. I don't have birds eye and I can switch between those modes (although I don't usually), as well as turn the lines on/off.
Hey buddy. Thanks for the install tips. I was trying to see if you know the color of the remote wire on the Desaita wire harness to connect a amplifier too. It kinda looks like it could be a blue wire with white strip on it but not sure. I know you have a amplifier connected to your radio so was wondering where you connected the amp remote turn on wire too. Thank u in advance.
I do not use the headunit to do the remote turn on but when the manuals so I am not sure. There is a wiring diagram in there that will help.
Did you loose any functionality without that wide black commector?
Great video! I could not tell from your video, but could you drill a hole in the existing mounting bracket to line up with one hole on the head unit? It looks like it might be feasible. That way you would at least have 1 bolt on each side.
I am going to explore this options and record it. I need to take apart the headunit fully to make sure I don't drill something important. Stay tuned.
I uploaded new video. There is a way to secure this to the head unit without creating additional holes. =]
Great video. It tells me a lot, mainly I will not go on with my wish to swap my head unit in my 2023 RAV4 Hybrid as the sockets in this new Panasonic 10’5 inch screen head unit are very different and there are still no (as far as I know) after market head units wire harnesses that will fit these new Panasonic factory fit 10’5 inch head units. The only, for most people probably unimportant reason, I want to swap the otherwise great functioning new unit, is the lack of AM on the European versions of the head unit. The older ones still have it, for one or the other stupid reason Toyota decided to leave AM out in the brand new ones, thank you so much Toyota……! I use AM for more than listening to the radio. I’m a radio amateur and report to others about my findings what’s going on on AM. Besides, it t is a great opportunity to get away from man made interferences in order to receive far away stations that in and around the house are simply buried under the noise floor. So….I have to live with it and bring my portable equipment with me. A real bummer and if I had known this prior to ordering the car, it would have meant a deal breaker, that important this whole thing is to me. Again, not a problem for most folks as otherwise the new Panasonic head unit has everything one can desire, ranging from wireless this and that for Apple Car Play and dito Android Auto. And it is a fast responding head unit. Something the older ones are definately not. Oh, Toyota gives no support at all, neither Toyota-Europe as they do not want to sell me an Australian unit that would fit my RAV4 perfectly, or Toyota Australia because they don’t recognise my RAV VIN#. Despite the fact I’m willing to pay for the replacement head unit. Not exactly customer friendly. The power of a behemoth automaker! Kind regards from Hekelingen, Holland. Bye, Willem.
the link goes to 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017 2018 version, does this work with the 2019 plug in play? Are they the same harnesses?
good work!
Thanks!
hi my RAV4 is XLE Hybird can I get with hybird information?
Great video! Does the manufacturer provide new software in the future? How long?
They said yes but I would not purchase this with that expectation. Right now, it works well and I would not even update it. Don't touch what isn't broken. =]
Mine didnt come with the hdmi part any reasons why ?
You can also use an instant epoxy glue mix for the brackets instead of bending the brackets
neat video.. I do have a question though. Does this improve the bass in the sound system? as you know the original HU has some sort of a mechanism that softens the bass after 3-5 seconds. It's really annoying. Does this HU help providing higher amperage? please do test the speakers and let us know. I'm very interested in this. Thanks again
I think Bass is way different and more existing in the aftermarket head unit. For sure there is some bass roll off with Toyota. I had to reduce my subwoofer when I first listened to music.
HU claims to offer 4x50 watts which is similar to the AMP I installed. I removed the amp and it seems audio is still good. I don't have tools to fully measure the delivered power.
@@Rav4Gen5 thanks for your reply. I read somewhere that lots of car manufacturers do that to protect their cheap speakers. There's a guy recommended to use this "AudioControl LC2i 2 Channel Line Out Converter with AccuBASS and Subwoofer Control" you can find it on Amazon. This will basically override 2 speakers and the bass. However, I'm not completely sure how to install that and how would it work with 11 speakers I have. If you have a video or idea of how to install this I'd appreciate it and buy you cookie :)
Good video,Is necessary to conect the microphone, the Dasaita system dont work with the speakers when we received the phone called?
Hi, it is necessarry to connect the mic, it can help receive your sound when we received the phone called
There is microphone built into the head unit and it works fine. I will remove the external microphone. Sound from phone calls go to all speakers.
Hello, I am trying to replace my 7-inch displayer (OEM) with an 8-inch displayer (OEM?), but one black port(right top/ nears all the white ports) is missing on the 8 inch one. May I ask what are functions do all the ports had? Is it okay to not plugged the black port(right top/ nears all the white ports)?
I think it is Siriusxm satellite radio. This is not included with 7 inch display. Should not be an issue
I’ve had this on my shopping list for a while but I didn’t want to pull the trigger until someone posted and I depth review. Can you talk about the audio features and if it’s an improvement over the stock head unit? Also does the head unit let you install Android Apps from the Google Play Store?
Audio is same or better than OEM. My Rav4 is modified so my sound experience is different. Definitely more customization. I also removed my 4 channel AMP.
You have full access to the playstore by google. It's a game changer. I found some apps didn't open or gave issue (like Pandora) but otherwise, it's great. I can check specific apps for you if you want!
@@Rav4Gen5 Can you run any of the OBD II apps to communicate to an OBDII device, whether over bluetooth or wifi?

Hey how are you doing I’m really curious did you also have the problem that when you turned up the volume the volume got disable when you went over a 45 on the volume knob please let me know because I’m having problems with my every time I turn it up it turns off but it only disables the volume you have to restart your vehicle in orderTo keep on hearing music please let me know thank you so much
You need to go to a dealer for a resolution.
Did you have any issues with sound? My right speaker has a buzz on it. I figured it might not b grounded correctly so I finished installing it with the brackets. Thought that might complete a ground connection. But it's still there and driving me nuts. I got a slightly altered version. My unit had a bunch of holes on the sides for the mounting brackets to line up perfectly. Also I have the hdmi cutout but no input or wire. Must be a slightly difrent model. But mine fit perfectly in my 2019 rav4. I just gotta wait till next weekend to take it back off to tinker with wires and hopefully get rid of that buzz. Ugh.
Thanks for the video. I watched it a few times and when mine arrived I pretty much flew through the install.
I have no speaker issue. Do you have the JBL system?
@@Rav4Gen5 I do not have the JBL system. But I didn't install to JBL speakers or tweeters on the front dash. It's only my one speaker. I even switched out that speaker with both original stock speakers and still had that issue. After doing some research it might be something with a not properly grounded wire
Thought of another question...can anyone recommend a good anti glare screen protector for this? I was looking at a 10.2" IPAD 8/7 anti-glare screen protector on Amazon, will that work?
That seems like a good idea. Might need to cut to shape but could work.
If I have a xm ready aftermarket head unit do I need to buy a tuner or does the rav 4 have the tuner in the wiring already?
Your "xm ready aftermarket head unit" should have the tuner built in. No? Rav4 probably has tuner built into the head unit, not a separate system.
Thank you for this, i was able to install my head unit fast. One issue i am having is the steering wheel button to skip music or go back is not working. Does yours do the same? also, did you have to update the firmware?
I had issue where my forward and backwards were swapped. There is way to switch it.
I can't get my SWC's to communicate with my VIVID head unit the keep telling me to do this, I have 20 times. You can only beat your head against the wall so many times with the same result.
1. Control the steering wheel via canbus:
Settings> Cars> Factory Settings (Password is 126)> go to CANBUS> choose the CANBUS option is 8> go to Others> Steering Wheel Button Assignment change to CAN Key> apply> exit> restart
2. Set the steering wheel manually (not control the steering wheel through canbus):

@@Rav4Gen5 how if you can mine is like that swaped
I’ve been looking for a replacement that I can use for my 2019 Rav4 because we don’t have android auto on our model and we were hoping that Toyota would upgrade via software for it but at this point that’s not going to happen. Would this unit be a good replacement for us?
It would be the first purchase I would ever make on a Rav4. Even if it did have android auto (which mine did), this is 100% better.
Awesome video, thank you for the info. What do you think about the 11.6 inch screen Dasaita has now for the rav4? Do you still have the amp installed. I'm deciding if installing the amp will matter.
I still love the head unit. I do not have an amp installed anymore.
@@Rav4Gen5 why did you remove the amp?
Dasaita Headunit has a built in amp.
And a digital signal processor.
@@Rav4Gen5 awesome, did you connect the sub woofer to the head unit sub woofer output? I remember you were thinking about connecting to the rear speakers.
@Rav4Gen5 what would you do with OEM Head Unit?
I keep. Might need for warranty claim
Maybe you could stabilize the unit by bending a ordinary shirt hanger to go over top from bolt to bolt in a sort of hold down strap.
Could work. But if it doesn’t screw into the head unit in some way, it can still slide out. Unlikely but possible. I might consider taking it apart to see if I can screw into the shell or something.
I uploaded new video. There is a way to secure this to the head unit without creating additional holes. =]
Zip ties through the holes. Better than nothing
I assuming you lost your capability of your wifi? I use mine in my 2019 rav4 and was looking at most replacement head units and they have to have a dongle purchased separately. Was this with this head unit also?
I never used WiFi from Toyota so i cannot help to much about the before and after. I do know of a single but it’s not included.
If installing on a hybrid 2019 rav4 will anything change or lose any other features?
I am sorry. I do not know.
It shouldn't be that difficult to make a head unit that is exactly shaped as the original one for trim fitting. What's the point to through all these trouble?
Is there any cheaper version of this one for the Toyota rav 4 2019 le?
There probably is. Dasaita is the premium brand for aftermarket head units but you can probably search around for alternatives with similar features.
So. After a year, still satisfied with Dasaita in rav4? I wanted wireless AA. Also I heard the screen is to reflective and dark.
What's your take on that?
I am very happy with it and would recommend. It is reflective and not that bright. This is true but it’s not that bad. I have been considering applying some matte film but didn’t get around to it. You can buy it on Amazon and if you don’t like it, you can return within the return window.
Hello, great install video lots of details! Some ideas for next review video:
- What OEM functions are lost & maintained
- How well functions (radio, gps, etc) work? Ex. Are they so slow that in actuality they’re not feasible
- Did you notice any changes good or bad to audio?
- How to different display and lighting options look like in person?
Thanks for your work!
Hey. I uploaded new video and cover some of your questions
OEM functions are all there with their own interface. Warnings, Reserve Camera, Fuel tracking are all there.
Radio/GPS are great. I don't feel the head unit is laggy at all. I have not downloaded a big memory using app but feel it can handle most quite well.
Audio is same or better. My Rav4 is very modified so my experience is different
Display is very good except it is very reflective. Can be difficult to see during the day. Can maybe find matte film to reduce glare.
@@Rav4Gen5but original microphone could not be used? I hate the look and sound of there cheap microphones
@@Rav4Gen5 was back up camera quality the same or better after the install?
Hey so do you think you might sell your OME head unit? I would be interested.
Hi. I won't sell. Might need it to make a claim against Toyota in the future. What do you have any why do you want OEM?
Is it necessary to disconnect the battery when doing this installation?
I did not disconnect. It would be smart to.
The link is for the 4th generation rav4
Would this work on a 2022 rav4 hybrid le?
It should work. Pull your headunit out and check the connections. I don't think they changed.

Mine is Denso. czcams.com/video/f-3oCuXDQOk/video.html. It is Audio Plus 8 inch
I have a question. Where the unit gets internet data from?
You have to use your own internet like you cellphone hotspot or something similar
Does this unit support Apple CarPlay?
Yes. And wireless CarPlay too.
Why did you choose that head unit in specific ?
Dasaita chose me. They are great big name company in aftermarket head units so I would recommend. Few downsides. Many upsides. See my new video on this.
Everybody loves raymond
does it work with the 360 camera?
I do not have that feature so I cannot confirm. Sorry
Did you disconnected the car's battery negative cable before installing this head unit?
No. But you should.

@@Rav4Gen5 I finally got this up and running yesterday. Very nice.
This is a great review. I’ve seen a few people installed this modele on their rav. I am waiting for a different brand and brackets I would feel comfortable relying on the plastic clips.
Would it be possible to use the same usb connection the factory radio used ?
I am only looking to install a 4 channel amp to my door speakers. I can’t find the harness anywhere.

Does this provide steering wheel control integration? Is there a way to get the voice button to work with android auto and google assistant?
HI,
thanks for your information.
the radio can support the steering wheel control.
it can support the voice control and google assistant when you connect the carplay.
Yes you can change the function of the steering controls. I did not go through all the available functions but probably there is a way for google assist. New video posted.
I have not found specific way to do Google assistant. I will continue to investigate. Lots of option to check. =)
@@Rav4Gen5 I saw on your detailed review video when you were setting the custom steering wheel control that there was a microphone symbol in the list. Have you tried to assign the voice button on the steering wheel to that microphone option?

Hey great install. Just wondering if you're selling your oem unit? I'm interested. Lmk thanks
Hey, I'm going to keep OEM just in case. OEM units are more than $2000 from Toyota. =/
Gosh I hate that user Interface. It's look straight out of 2006. Also why do you have to wire the mic? The rav4 mic doesn't work with it?
The interface out of the box is certainly old but it’s android so it’s fully customizable. I never checked if the rav4 mic works. I just assumed it didn’t. You also don’t need to wire one. The head unit has it built in and it’s what I use.
Nice radio and video. But for that price I’ll probably look @ a name that I real know. $500 it’s a bit to much.
