    Instant tears. My late sisters favorite horse. Her pink Rachael hat lays on top of her urn.🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹

    I love this! And Rachel Alexandra too. She is definitely one of the best horses we have seen the past decade. And also in the history of Thoroughbred racing. She is one very magnificent animal. Rachel Alexandra is the Royal Queen in my eyes. Hopefully her talent passes down from her son and daughter into many future generations. Definitely 2009 was The year of RACHEL ALEXANDRA. Thanks for sharing this Beautiful piece.

    Wasn't going to comment, but here goes... even American Pharoah bombed in the Travers! They call it The Graveyard of Champions for a reason! In addition, I'd rather have 10 horses that load well than 1 stinker. Simon sounds like a disgruntled Zenyatta camper!!!

      Arrogate was glorious in the Travers broke track record

  • @theOlLineRebel
    @theOlLineRebel Před rokem +2

    And THAT is the proper spirit: "they decided to pass on the Travers, because they had nothing to prove against 3yo colts....the only thing left was for her to go against older males." So much emphasis is put on the Travers even for just 3yo colts, even though they've done the TC and other big 3yo races prior. Sometimes it's made to be more important than any (Saratoga esp.) open race. But like the KY Derby, in truth it is not.

  • @stivosimz
    @stivosimz Před 3 lety

    Tom, she passed on the Travers because it was 10 furlongs and she would have lost. Furthermore, the horses she beat in this Woodward, NOT ONE ran in the Classic. A weak field.

      Just cause they didn’t run in a classic doesn’t mean they aren’t quality horses. Asiatic boy finished second to curlin in Dubai World Cup and macho again second to big brown in Preakness. It was a distant second but second nonetheless. It wasn’t the greatest field but still a quality win. She beat the boys in the Preakness from the outside post going wire to wire. I’m not calling you a dummy but FYI. I know my horse racing too. My examples are from memory. Maybe I am wrong but I don’t think so. 10 furlongs is a haul but I think you are making it sound like she isn’t an all time great. She is.

      The responsibility of a trainer is to have a sound horse because it is a very grueling campaign. And if you knew what an athlete has to go through in order to reach their peak in every event since you don't it is hard work. I commend the trainer and the handlers for keeping her health and well being on the top of their minds. Remember what happened to Citation.
