If criticism were to be constructive, then the cgi could be smoother and polished. Traditional animation on the other hand is spectacular! I'd say this was a first good episode for this potential series!

Completely agree, again, with constructive criticism. I also think the voice acting did not match the expressions to the CGI. I love the traditional, but the CGI and the voice acting needed a bit of work
Most CGI is cheap anyways. I always prefer the hand drawn.

Seeing Adeline melt away like that was heartbreaking. Like, you could clearly see how scared/how much pain she was in.
The part where we see half of her face missing and see I think her rough sketch ( which I would say is the toons equivalent to a skeleton) makes it a little more morbid than it actually is. Reminds me of judge Doom's death from who framed rogger rabbit.
its also how she tried to put her arm back on then died moments later :(
@@shadeskitsune7830 I just wanted to reach out and comfort her in her final moments. Off course, she's easy to bring back to life, she just needs to be drawn again, but how can you think that when she melts so graphically?

As a connoisseur of rubberhose animation, Adeline herself is animated flawlessly. She's super expressive and full of character.
The CGI could use some tweaking for it to work but still, very well done.
I'd say there's potential here to make a full-blown series here. I love what's done here and I'm craving for more! That's the mark of a good, dang animation!

@@DToTheB Yeah, I came to that same conclusion as well. She's implied to already be aware of what's going on, which would mean that she has all her prior memories. She seemingly remembers what she did, and even recognizes that she hasn't had her fur or clothing inked in this time.

The saddest part about seeing Adeline melt is if you look closely you can see her say “no, no, please” when she’s trying to put her arm back on. Fantastic attention to detail there.

I love how he doesn't even panic over the mess or the live cartoon and just casually says "no no no I need you in the paper" this isn't the first time this has happened!

The Academy failed to shortlist "Forget Me Not" last year, so I hope they shortlist (or even nominate) this one this year for the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film at the 95th Oscars.

Oh, what a great short! I love how Adeline’s as small as she’s drawn, it provides a new perspective for “living animation” scenarios since they’re typically human sized.
This is absolutely adorable and the sequence where she begins to melt is so damn heartbreaking and even scary, being both cartoony but also somewhat realistic.
Well done on every aspect.

i like the message that goes with it, wich is pretty serious, mostly about cartoons having to be rushed, and, how some animators pretty much have to sleep at their studios often (even tho studios dont really look like that anymore) but still
i also ADORE how the lil cartoon creature uses drawing and paper noises and such this is such a cool idea! hope too see amazing stuff from you in the future!!
It’s supposed to look like an old animation studio because it’s a 30s cartoon. And I notice a subtle film which is a nice detail.
I love how well animated this short was and the idea itself is a great callback to Max Flieschers “Out of the InkWell” hope you make more amazing projects in the potential future
Although the concepts are not exactly the same, this honestly reminds me a lot of Bendy and the Ink Machine!
And for that reason, I love it! I'm also not just talking about the Bendy game, but the books.
This is really an intresting take on cartoons coming to life, and I'm very excited to see what you do with it!

Just realized there’s a subtle film texture here which is pretty cool. Pretty cool animation, very retro and cool.
They use an eraser sound as an instrument in the end credits, I think that's a pretty cute detail

This is absolutely beautiful. I love the animation, Adeline is so adorable, and it’s overall just very funny and heartwarming to put it simply. The death-by-coffee part is probably gonna haunt me for a while tho.😅

This is cute, I liked the sounds for the 2D character in this, she felt like she had more personality with the movement sounds.
Wow first Ollie Otter from "Forget me Not" and now this, Adeline (Character Species here) looks great and the whole animation is really good. Great new characters for the cartoon group, Mickey, Oswald, Bendy, Felix, Cuphead, Mugman, Ollie, and now Adeline. Well TOON in next time!
The Film was amazing, the 2d and 3d animation were pretty good! the background elements and how the characters play with them doesn´t feel ankward or out of place to me. i obviusly wanna give props to all the great team behind the project who made this film posible. Ya´ll are really great, and hope to see more about this in the future.

I saw this on my recommendations and when I clicked on it and watched it all the way through it really is special, I really like when there's both 3d and 2d at the same time it's unique for me to see stuff like that, also this animation is wholesome so I gives some support.

Like how the earlier parts of the plot references "The Looney Beginning" of "Tiny Toons" where the story revolves around the cartoon creator/artist trying to come up with something for his boss. Also. like the design of this fluid 2D Rubberhose style of the female character as well. This was great!!!

Reminds me of the concept for that cancelled Dreamworks movie about shadows where the main characters were CG but their shadows were all 2D animated and independently moving.
@@caldw615 it really does remind me of that too and I'm glad that the concept is being used, even if it is in a different way (which is a very good way tbf) it always amazes me to see 2-D and 3-D simultaneously interacting with the world and when it's done well, you're in for a treat
This animation is really good, I love the transition when 3D goes to 2D with the eyes at 2:13 - 2:44 , being a small test animation or pilot video this should show more support. I’m definitely subscribed for more like this and other projects in the future.
I find it very sad that no one has mentioned the animator vs animation series by Alan Becker. This is similar but different in its own way and I'm here for it. I'm looking forward to what is next.

I only wish I had seen this earlier so I could show my film history professor! This was a super well made and charming film, and the main toon character is just adorable! A brilliant homage to classic animation.

wow that creator did a good work of the drawing of the 20th century and the drawing came alive and poor thing that is very sad and asleep and the character looks at how sad she is and she was drawing to help the poor thing and made it very great and he is happy xd

I've had a lot of experience with Rubberhose Animation thanks to a lot of friends, and I've got to say: this looks absolutely incredible! Adeline was animated super smoothly and fluently, and the 3D Animation was also really good!
This has potential,and the animation looks unique and different.If this was a show I would give it a try.Hope it gets picked up,you must have put in a lot of work for this.

The scratching quality of the video made it look like a 1930s short! I also enjoyed the interaction and the fusion between the 2D character and the 3d character and environment! This is amazing! Great job!

Adorable! The meshing of 2D and 3D was beautiful and Adeline herself is too cute for words. I'd love a full show starring her, it would be incredible!
This is a beautiful fusion of hand-drawn and computer-generated animation! With its simple premise and well-timed character animation and music cues, this felt like a love letter to classic cartoon shorts like Puss Gets the Boot (i.e. the debut of Tom and Jerry), especially with the animator catching the falling books! Very well done!

This is giving me Netflix Garfield and Cuphead vibes which my 5 year old loves both so even as a relatable adult storyline (hard work can be overwhelming but seeing it come to life makes it all worthwhile) this film is still whimsical and eye catching enough to entertain a variety of audiences

god this came up in my recommended and i love it so much. adeline is so well designed and expressive, and while the 3d animation could use some poliah, it works suoer well against the 2d to convey real world vs cartoon. honestly inspires me on the medium to go with for a cartoon pilot ive been workshopping!

to the creator of this animation, i find it very cool that you were very able to blend 3d computer animation with hand drawn animation, all coming together in one package of awesome, this animation is a work of art.
This art style is really nice to see in fluid animation. Her character is really adorable, and I wouldn't be surprised if you made a micro comic based on these two and how they go about their lives as artist and drawing.

HOLY CRAP, I JUST REALIZED SOMETHING, (now I don't know if it was intentional or not, but I had to point it out). Adeline is also the name of a Kirby character who appeared in Kirby 64 (as a boss), Star Allies (as a playable character), Super Kirby Clash (as a cameo), (stick with me here), Adeline (from Kirby) Is shown to be an artist. One of her main attacks is drawing enemies on a canvas that would then come to life and attack foes. And I assume you just finished watching so... You can probably make the connection.
This is amazing. The fusion between 2d and 3d is really well done, and I love the 2d animation. The 3d could use some work, though, but its not bad. I really loved the part where the lights were off. Awesome!

Awesome film. I really like what was presented in here. Here's some feedback: I think the human movements are a bit stiff, they could use some work. Other than that, everything else looks awesome, including the 2D animation. Great work from everyone who made this possible.

Animation is my favorite thing in the world and this a spectacular reason why, a fun story, amazing-looking art, lovable and expressive characters, it all makes me so happy. Adeline is absolutely adorable and entertaining and my one and only criticism is that the CGI can use a few touch ups and it’s perfect. I hope to see more amazing work from you in the future.😁👍

Tbh, adorable, amazing, loved the story and the idea. Also, the 3D guy never stopped moving? And when he did, the camera made super smoothed out slow motions. It felt like I never got a change to break and process everything. Loved the idea, super cute, the scene where the cartoon literally dies traumatized me, also the 3D could use some more stops and starts. Their movements seemed a little too smooth and slow ig. Great job!
